The most vivid counterexample I can think of in the past 20 odd years is the Ducks-Sens finals. Sens were such a skill team. But right after game 1, it was clear it was a physical mismatch. Pronger and Beauchemin and Getzlaf just bullied them.

Have you officially thrown in the towel Brucey? Surely you can name 5 current Philadelphia Flyers players? Carter Hart. Ok so I gave you one. Just 4 more to go Brucey!

Please leave your auntie Lucy alone, Brucey. I bet she can name 5 current Philadelphia Flyers players. Your diet is frightening. Almost as much as your lack of hockey knowledge is. I award you no Gritty points and may Kate Smith have mercy on your Bandwagon soul. Is PlayStation 2 the name of your blow up doll? What happened to PlayStation 1? Did you DEW her in?

Genius move.

Ask the fanbase how much THEY’VE moved away.

The old school Fishtown kinda guy havent, but a lot of the fan base noted years ago that the old Bullies style hasn’t worked in the modern age.

We’ve wanted to get away from guys whose sole purpose it was to take a head off for a long time.

Wake up. This isn’t the age of the Hammer anymore. Hell, even players like Jody Shelley have been long gone.

We still like guys who can hit, but you better have some offense to your game, too. Simmonds had that. They’re great.

Bruce, I have no qualms with guys who can lay a hit, but a checking line consisting of killers with zero talent is over.

The league has a vaccine for the old Philly Flu. 4 solid skating lines is the way to do it.

Sure you have. I like Google too. Yet you can't name me 5 current Flyers players. Come on Brucey. It isn't that hard. Would you like Buzztron's help?
- gergeswillems

There’s a good amount of talent on that team. Honestly, that’s an easy ask of anyone who watches hockey.

Yeah i’m sure you’re heading for the water closet when the gloves get dropped.

If you are a Flyers fan...don’t publicly rebuke another...for no other apparent reason other than to name drop the cup of coffee Flyer jody shelley.

And i promise not to mention behn wilson or norm barnes or the almighty dave brown who smashed his stick across thomas sandstrom’s face because he was too much of a coward to defend all of his low bridge hits and cheap ass stickwork.

Who’s Dave Brown???

My point exactly.

LET’S GO FLYERS !! !!!

Bruce, those were great times! And it worked!

But times have changed, buddy. I love when the gloves come off. I have fond memories of those days when people were terrified of coming into Philly.

But man, it just doesn’t WORK anymore. You’ve got to adapt to survive!

You are kidding, right?

I will take that as a “yes”.

No one was happier than me in june 2015...that friday afternoon when i heard the sweet words from Ray Shero’s mouth...
“The new jersey devils are proud to select pavel zacha...”

When i heard those words i knew we had ivan provorov...and my prayers for our own mark howe had finally been answered.

Flyer fans talk about hart changing the team’s fortunes...but in reality...provy will be the backbone of many cups to come.

And we will walk together...forever...just like Fred Shero promised.

In the mean time...let’s make fun of these other numb skulls...because...we can!

Of course I wanted Provorov. Who didn’t? Our defensive pipeline was a joke at that point, and a bonafide 1st pairing blue-liner fell into our laps. We needed a guy like that desperately, but it wasn’t because he was an old school bruiser. It’s because he’s a sound 2-way defenseman.

And a Russian, at that! Even Clarkie couldn’t help but smile when Provy dropped. He was the best at his position in the draft.

They finally addressed a big need that year, and continued to until we finally have this really deep core of young defensemen. Don’t get me wrong, man. I love defense. It wins.

And isn’t it great to have these kids coming into their own in front of Hart? Absolutely.

Anaheim, Carolina, San Jose, Minnesota, Nashville, Calgary and Vancouver have never picked 1st overall.

Vancouver has been in since 1970, Calgary since 1972 and Carolina since 1979. All longer times without a 1st overall than the Habs.

Sounds good dude...we’re on the same page and more importantly...the same team.

But i love triggering numb skull fans...especially the ones that play up the Flyers can’t goon their way to a cup angle. Of course not...but you need toughness....you need to stand up for yourself and your teammates...ALWAYS. And there are many teams that to this day...just don’t get it. I live in vancouver...i swear...matt cooke and alex burrows were the cheapest piece of sht punks i’ve ever seen play hockey...dirty hits galore...and never manned up to GD fight when they were constantly challenged. That would NEVER be tolerated. in philly. You aren’t allowed to be a punk in a Flyers uniform...just aren’t. And as for standing up for your teammates...remember when marchand speed bagged one of the sedins in the 2011 finals??? Do you think the Flyers would have let him do the same to G or Gagne or jvr or any of the finesse players??? Not on your Fing life!!!!

Enjoy the summer...still not convinced this playoff is going to happen.

But we’re coming hard these next 10 years my friend...we will win it as all...AGAIN!!!

True dat.

Fishtown today is full of young hipsters who spend hours talking about their V60 skills and their overpriced houses. Not that many "old school" guys there anymore.

Yeah, they moved out. But that was the place.

As for Kensington, my wife taught there for a few years. Not exactly a prime leaning environment for the kids.
