I can't imagine Wings passing on Raymond or Rossi..
- MartysBetter88

Raymond is the big question of this draft. I think every team looks at him differently, so if he goes high, then we could get a player a lot of us covet. If he is on the board at 7, there will be a lot of pressure to take him as he will be seen as sliding.

Perfetti or Holtz with #7 would be ideal for me, With Quinn waiting for us with AZ's pick. Dmen take longer to develop and are ore of a guessing game. Grab one with VAN's pick and call it a success.

I'm not really worried about it, we're gonna be getting 2 really good prospects whether the pick is 9, 10, or 11. At this point im just worried about AZ actually losing their series, if the play-ins even happen. Having the pick drop from 9 through 11 to 16 or later would be awful

As to Drysdale compared to Sanderson theres no doubt Drysdale is the better pick, not only is his offensive ceiling is through the roof but he is very sound without the puck as well, i dont think that should even be a debate. Drysdale is in the Byram tier imo. Theres a reason why Drysdale will go top 5 and Sanderson is just sneaking into the top 10. Both will be very good defensemen though, just with different playstyles. Just the more i think about it and rationalize it in my head, the more i think we're going to take Sanderson at 7.

I just wish he was right handed, but our left side could look very good in the future with Sanderson, Smith(even though he can play the right side), and Bahl there. Plus the like of Okhotyuk and Misyul as well. Not much going on down the right side in terms of the future though, essentially only McCarthy and Walsh? Who we may lose next summer.

Yea the more I read about Sanderson the more I see his immense value to a team, as he can actually play defense, and at a more elite level than Drysdale.

I think our largest concern is that AZ pick. We NEED need need them to lose this best of 5 against Nashville. I have such minimal confidence the Preds are going to be up for this.. even with all their veteran players.. Hynes. Hynes Hynes Hynes. I fear Rick Tocchet will have that team ready to be the first to 3 wins.. after both teams having 4 months off. And Rinne has already been struggling with consistency. Kessel, Hall and OEL are going to light him up if they get a favorable matchup against Preds' bottom pair, or even mid-pair. That structure has to be air tight.. which is the opposite of Hynes. SO much rides on that matchup. Then we have to deal with AZ having a 12.5% change at 1st lolol. such a weird bonkers draft . If only the regular season played out.. we could've known for sure we'd be picking 10th.. or 9th.. or even 8th. Bah.

Zero chance this team gets Rossi at 7. Or Drysdale. Rossi could go as high as 2, but he's going no lower than 5. Drysdale will probably be a top 4 pick.

We're probably getting a gold-helmet.

Maybe we should start discussing the Yotes/Preds matchup. That's so much more important than Raymond vs Holtz. That could be the difference between adding a top 6 forward.. or not adding one at all. yeesh. We gotta wait a whole nother month for answers.

Absolutely, any team can always use a big bodied minute muncher who can PK and run a PP if need be. A very good skating D that is very sound defensively who makes a great first pass in transition? Seems solid to me. Some good comps i've seen of him are McDonagh, Slavin, and Lindholm. Also, i know some people doubt his offensive upside but Steve Kournianos posted some things about Sanderson in response to those comments:

--He averaged more assists per game than Thomas Chabot did in his draft year and did so playing in a lower-scoring league
--His shooting pct of 10% is pretty much the same as Cam York, K'Andre Miller, Quinn Hughes, and Adam Fox had in their respective draft years.
--He's the only defenseman to lead the U18 February 5 Nations in scoring since I started covering the event in 2016
--He's the first defenseman to win player of the game at the AAPG since 2015
--He spent the entire season as the No. 1 point man on the NTDP power play which operated at over 25% in 8 games against top international U18 teams.
--His 0.86 points-per-game against combined USHL and Intl teams when added to the 16 or 17 games he missed means he finished the season with around 45 points, which would tie with Jack Johnson and Noah Hanifin for 9th in NTDP history.

And yeah i agree, i would give the edge to AZ in that series. Goaltending alone is a huge advantage for them, and everyone is healthy. Lets watch John Hynes screw us one last time. I want to watch playoff hockey in the worst way, but at the same time if the playoffs get cancelled then we dont need to worry about them losing, we just gotta worry about them not winning so lottery. So i wouldnt be extremely disappointed if the playoffs dont actually happen, which is definitely a possibility

I would be pretty surprised if the Yotes even look competitive against the Preds. That team is WAY too young to compete against a pretty experienced Nashville team, even if they're in decline. Soon, but not yet.

I think it'll be deja vu for Hall.

so really we're rooting for no playoffs, to assure we get either 10th or 11th overall, depending on which of the teams win #1.. not to mention 16th! I can deal with that.

If there is no playoffs do we get the Vancouver pick? Enquiring minds want to know. Seriously.

I'm not sure but i would think so. I've seen multiple people tweet out that if the playoffs dont happen, then teams 8-15 would be seeded by points% when the season ended. And by that category, Van would've been 3rd in their division/7th overall in the West at the time the season ended. So they wouldnt be in the lottery, which i means we should get the pick i think?

McKenzie tweeted that if no playoffs happen then the teams entering the lottery would be MTL, CHI, AZ, MIN, WPG, NYR, FLA, and CBJ

Rossi just screams an NJ pick because all the 67s NJ has drafted. If Raymond is there I hope they snag him he’s Unreal but I wouldn’t be disappointed with Rossi
- K-dizzle

A different gm will be picking than the one taking all those previous 67’s

And the NHL announces that more players (25) have tested positive for Corona Virus.

I'm doubtful we will see playoffs before a vaccine...

I know Bob McKenzie's ranking isn't the bible, but none of the scouts he talked to had Rossi higher than 5. I don't think I've seen a single list with him even at 4 let alone passing Byfield and Stutzle. I think its crazy to think he could go at 2.

A dman that can play 25 minutes a night in all situations is very valuable and is definitely something we need. A lot of people want a sexy pick but I'd be perfectly fine with Sanderson at 7.

Absolutely, i agree. The description you gave is probably what the front office essentially thought we were getting when we traded for Subban. Obviously Sanderson isnt as flashy, but i mean in the sense of an all situations guy who can play 25 minutes a night, be a leader, kill penalties, play on the pp, blocks shots, throws hits, and be out on the ice in the last minute of a game to defend a lead or try to tie a game. Like i said before, the only issue i have with him is he's a lefty instead of righty lol. Also that he's going to college starting next year, i always get scared of guys walking(especially a first round pick) but i think he'll be in the NHL before he even gets a chance to complete 4 years and walk as a free agent

1) Lafreniere
2) Byfield/Stutzle (probably Byfield)
3) Stutzle/Byfield
4) Rossi/Drysdale
5) Drysdale/Rossi

From here you’d start thinking of names, because most likely these are your first 5.

Sanderson, Perfetti, or Raymond. At least 2 of those guys will be available. If you get lucky and someone falls, take it, but I doubt anyone of those top 5 makes it past Anaheim. Holtz is another to consider.

Could go totally crazy and trade the Arizona and nucks pick to a team in the lotto and hope that it turns into the #1 pick with the 12.5% chance

Don't get this at all. Why would you trade a #10 and #17, for a 87.5% chance at one pick between those two spots? 12.5%chance is nice, but not near enough for me.

According to NHL Tankathon Vancouver is 17th.

It doesn't matter because it depends on the playoffs.

There was a show on MSG last night with Fitz, and he was asked about getting extra time to watch/look at players before the draft came and he name dropped Sanderson as someone he's going to spend more time watching. Lock it in boys, thats who we're taking lol.

Sanderson would be a great pick, as long as we have AZ's pick at 9-11 and we can still get Holtz or Quinn.

If we take Sanderson, that means the team behind us probably gets Rossi and we have to hope Chicago drafts Askarov leaving us to pick btw Holtz, Quinn or Lundell.

That wouldn't be the worst draft!
