Just saying. I've been hearing this same line for 2 decades now. Every decent Swedish defense prospect is apparently "the next Lidstrom." - gergeswillems
I don't think he ever said he was the next Lidstrom. He is obviously just comparing their style of play which is similar. I imagine Mattias grew up idolizing Lidstrom and took after his game. Like many Swedes do
If he's half of what Lidstrom was that is a win
Really glad he'll be furthering his development with the more prestigious Frolunda organization
Habs up and coming Swedish sensation Dman Mattias Norlinder (the one that reminds Per Hagglund of Nik Lidstrom - a journalist who has covered the SHL for 30 years) pulls off the Forsberg on Lundqvist
As a Rangers fan, this is intriguing. My question is, does Gadreau play the right side as well as the left? Panerin and Kreider are both left wings.
Rangers hope Chytil will be able to replace Strome at 2C, but that's a greater need. Hoping K'Andre Miller or one of a couple other prospects will eventually replace Brendan Smith as Trouba's partner, but left D is also a bigger need.
Unless the plan would be to use the cap space to acquire lehner, Calgary would just hold on to JG and use him as an “own rental” until he walks as a FA. We’ve been desperately needing another top six winger the past 2 years, to get one in on an ELC for three years would be perfect - RedC21
Wouldn’t say no to Laf obviously, but the Flames don’t just need a winger. They need a RW.
I dont think it is even that realistic from a transaction value standpoint, but how in the world would the Rangers do this under a salary cap that is likely not going up? They have 67 million committed to 15 players. Gaudreau will command minimum 7 million. So they would have about 6 million to spend on about 1/3 of their lineup. - Satan'sIsland81
He’s not a UFA, so not sure what exactly you’re talking about.

Good luck in the play-ins...

Congrats on being one of the worst teams ever in hockey and still losing out on the 1st pick! Get use to that, it's going to be a long, long time before you muster some type of relevancy again

JG playe RW in college and I believe tkachuck may have played that side a few times this year when mangiapane had reps in the top six. I would expect one of those two to slide over

If they make the trade next offseason than maybe. The Rangers’ cap situation this year is shot. They still have Shattenkirk’s buyout of like $6 million and the cap is going to flatline so not likely that trade happens. Total dead cap space will be almost $7.5 million.
They just Signed Panarin last summer and extended Kreider recently. Both play LW. Does JG play RW? Nope. Not that I know of.
They will have around $12 million to sign 7-8 players. JG takes up more than half of that.
Rangers don’t need JG. Unless they move Kreider which they won’t. So dumb choice as the best trade proposal. Thanks for coming out.
