Eklund: And Johnny Gaudreau Goes To.... - Eklund the bathroom?
All jokes aside, imagine if Calgary wins the 1st pick. Is there truly anyway that they keep JG, Tkachuk, and Laf? Talk about cap issues in 2022/2023 |

Unless the plan would be to use the cap space to acquire lehner, Calgary would just hold on to JG and use him as an “own rental” until he walks as a FA. We’ve been desperately needing another top six winger the past 2 years, to get one in on an ELC for three years would be perfect |

If Calgary gets booted, expect JG to get traded. If they get 1OA, JG will definitely get traded and most likely at the draft.
Management is losing patience with current core and losing in play-in rnd or 1st rnd of actual playoffs, changes will be coming. |

JG is overrated - Nighthawk
He would be a top line LW on most NHL teams including the Canucks.

I dont think it is even that realistic from a transaction value standpoint, but how in the world would the Rangers do this under a salary cap that is likely not going up? They have 67 million committed to 15 players. Gaudreau will command minimum 7 million. So they would have about 6 million to spend on about 1/3 of their lineup. |

The point of trading Gaudreau would be to sign Hall. So depending what DeAngelo & Georgiev want as they both have to be resigned would be a huge consideration on this deal & I also would want that 1st thrown in as well, forget the conditional crap. Rangers would have 2 years to work on his extension, this isnt a rental scenario. |

What are you on? Management is in no way losing patience with the current core. Everyone besides Giordano still has at least 5+ years of their prime left. The only reason they might consider trading Gaudreau is if they really don't think they can extend him. If Rittich or Talbot can be consistent for a while and they add one more solid defenceman, they'll be competitive in the West for the foreseeable future.
There's also a pretty realistic possibility that teams will be getting a free buyout this year, so they can easily fix their only cap problem. If they can get a $5 million defenceman instead of a $5 million Lucic, they'll be set. |

So... will Kreider or Panarin play RW? Will JG play RW?
I think the deal is fair, but I don't know it makes much sense for the Rangers. |

I had the Flames trading JG to the King’s for the first pick in the 2020 draft straight up. |

Satan's Island, it actually is realistic if you take in the fact that DeAngelo will command big money and with his recent comments is likely on the block anyway. He is in the 5 mil category. To acquire a talent like JG there will be other ways to address the cap issue but Johnny stays in NYR.
Panarin and Gaudreau would both hit the 100 point totals and Zibby if he stays healthy would pot 50+ |

I def prefer that to some of the other Canadian cities
Toronto . Then again, it would be funny to see Dubas give him 13m after his ELC |

Gaudreau for Byfield or Stutzie , not bad but still rather have the duck in the hand than the one in the bush. I suppose if your blowing it up and looking for cap relief it is good. Also if he walks in two years it is really good. I would think LA would want some assurances for an extention.

Taylor Hall will be the beginning of more problems in CowTown. Do you really expect him to stay healthy for a full season. One great season in NJ and a whole lot of expecting more for several years. The only reason this is ongoing now is because JG has made it clear to management confidentially that he will be leaving when he is a free agent. |

😂😂😂😂😂😂
The only reason this is going on is because Hall and Gaudreau haven't told the media their plans, so they just go with the wanting to move home story.

"In 5 years he'll be a Norris winner..He's a Nicklas Lidstrom -- So smart, great hands, skating. He'll be the next MODO player you'll write and talk about."
"He's MODO's best hope since Hedman. Norlinder is part of their new wave."
- Per Hagglund
Who has covered MODO for 30 years
Expectations are tempered but hard not to be excited with hearing that. Don't shoot the messenger! |

Just saying. I've been hearing this same line for 2 decades now. Every decent Swedish defense prospect is apparently "the next Lidstrom." |

I believe Lafreniere would still be on his rookie deal or, at worst, RFA. |

Rangers could do it.
Lundqvist, Staal, and Smith and the combined $18.5 million in cap hit they carry come off the books after 20/21 |
