Ya, your right. We do! and Laffy could be just what the doctor ordered

Imagine the Habs get swept by the Wings and then end up with the #1 pick. That would be some more sweet sweet karma headed your way

On a more serious note, let's be real, they will be giving that #1 pick to a US team. Like it's been stated before, it'll be the likes of the NYR/Minnesota/Chicago/Coyotes.... or a US team that is on the cusp that could use that one final piece to push them over the top

And if Vegas loses hell gary will gladly give them the pick. Follow the money, read between the lines

- Komisaurus Rex

The owners that employ Gary are totally in agreement im sure. 7-11 is an inside job!

100% the owners would be. They know gary's moves are to grow the sport and the more money the NHL makes the more money the owners make

This whole conversation about choosing between tanking to have a 12.5% chance at the 1st pick or playing for the cup could have been easily avoided. Yesterday's draft was fine, but the next draft made up of the losers of the first round is where the problems begin because everyone has the same probability of getting No.1. To avoid all of this, they should have taken the 8 losers of the first round and rank them according to how they finished in the regular season, with the lowest seed ie. Montreal, getting 8 balls in the draft, the next lowest seed getting 7 balls and all the way up to the highest seed losing getting only 1 ball. This would have eliminated the dreaded tanking option.

Will the Leafs tank...again to get a chance at the 1st pick?

What if something went wrong and we got stuck with Laine. Too dangerous

As a Ranger fan beating Carolina to get in the final 16 would be great andI want the the Rangers to advance. I feel the rebuild is ahead of schedule. If the Rangers lose to Carolina it would suck but the number 1 pick would be great consolation prize.

I don't think there's a big gap. Lafreniere is the bonafide #1 pick. But Byfield and Stutzle are both excellent. Lafreniere isn't McDavid, Matthews, Eichel or MacKinnon.
- gergeswillems

No but he may well get a chance to play with some of those superstars, except Eichel, Other possible teammates might be Crosby and Malkin, Kane and Toews, etc. etc,

What was the rush to do the draft lottery yesterday.
Why didnt they just do it after the play in round?

The Canucks have never had the top pick.

I'd rather see them get the 1st overall pick then just win the play in round.

As a leafs fans, I would rather they go for it not tank. A 12.5 percent chance they win otherwise the higher pick goes to Carolina. Not worth it. I would think most fans, except for some in MTL, Chi, Ari would want the chance for lafreniere.

And the winner of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft Lottery is...

“Unnamed Team”!!!

What an F’ing bozo league.

Should have held the WHOLE lottery AFTER the play in round.

Complete clown show.

In the last 20 years only 3 first overall picks have won a cup ( fluery, crosby and kane)

Guys on the ice who may never see the NHL again arent going to pass up an chance to play for a cup. Especially not going to tank for a pick of a team they might not be on next year ( if they get traded, released)

This whole draft was dumb. But some teams consolation prize will be the 1st pick.

You’re logic is correct.
Flames have 0 chance to win the cup.
I admire a fan’s admission for cheering a tank job.

It's not a tank. The Canucks haven't made the playoffs in years an have been a bottom club for 5 of them. Things are trending up but it's debatable wether or not they would have been a playoff team this season. (They were points %)

Adding Lafreniere though would be unreal. I won't be upset if they win the play in, just don't care much about hockey in the summer anyways.

Flames have as good a chance as everyone else with this whackadoo playoff only format. Everything is reset and back to zero. Rittich and Gaudreau at their best are good enough to give them a shot.

They have all the pieces if everything clicks together. Their top line was one of the best in the league last year. Backlund was one of the best centres in the league for all of February. Rittich always has a month or so as one of the best in the league. Giordano is only a year removed from winning the Norris. Tkachuk might be the best second-line LW in the league. Mangiapane was starting to breakout. Bennett is somehow always a beast in the playoffs. Lucic isn't afraid to fight any goalie in the league.
