Kevin Adams has an ‘aww shucks’ I cant believe this is happening to me look on his face every time I see anything about him. He seems star struck with himself. Can we get a GM who feels like he belongs in his job for Christ’s sake?

hopefully it's only a front to disguise the killer that's inside

right?

how many sabres' coaches have talked about the "five-men-as-a-unit" mentality?
- Michael Pachla

I know, everyone, but looking back I think we can safely say they didn't have the developed talent to carry it out or enough talent but they sure paid to the freaken cap.

totally agree...somebody posted the minutes of vegas' d and that's what the sabres should be doing...and they might just have enough talent to do so
- Michael Pachla

That was me

If at some point Dahlin & Jokiharju or whoever turn into Keith-Seabrook, then cool... play them 25-30min

But for now...
Let’s see who plays well together,
and put them in situations where their skill set lets them have a better chance at being successful

I suppose that’s what they’re trying to do now
Maybe it would look better if we got some more consistent goaltending??

true, and if i might add, they also didn't have the buy-in amongst some key players

i read where skunk can go to arb the next two years and come out the other end an unrestricted free agent...i think montour's in the same boat...

perhaps they can go 3-4 yrs of guaranteed money and when they hit free agency, they'll still be in the middle of their prime

- Michael Pachla

Yeah, it’s gonna be interesting to see how this plays out with a lot of guys (not just here)

You know what else will help is the D play by the forwards the top four D plays with too. Besides strong D players on the 4th line they need to find complete players for lines 1-3 too, maybe to put at least one in the top 6. Acquire a complete 2nd line center who can score 50+ pts, kill penalties and plays a 200 ft game. That won't be easy.
- GilPerreault11

Bonino, Henrique
-the 50+ points is a stretch maybe,
but 40+ for sure

The absolute main reason I dislike Risto is because he’s used constantly as a franchise D. If the coach would play him as a 2nd pairing PP guy I’d have 0 issue just trading Montour.
- sbroads24

To be fair, Ralph made the most progress in doing so, still more to be made, but he did way more than both Bylsma and Housley put together. Almost 4 fewer minutes of ice time compared to 2 years ago(200 more minutes in only 4 more games at evens), and about 2 fewer than last year.

When we gutted the Sabres in 2015 to make sure we had mceichel, there should be some expectations of losing.

Maybe 3 years worth

We're at 5 years now. He owes us a few more years.

Maybe I'm speaking as a paying customer vs. A casual fan?

- Boss34

You’re just being emotional about it vs logical
Eichel’s contract is with the team
Not the fans, not the city
He fulfills his contract by going out there & playing great

Also... that’s a joke to even start with

- jdfitz77

Most of these just aren't true anyway.

It's the "cool" thing now to just kick the Sabres while they're down, and bloggers are just posting bullish!t more and more.

The B's didn't make that offer. I mean, Charlie (frank)ing Coyle?!

Bahahahahaha!

Yes, that was my point.

He needs to play hard for his contract.

He needs to play hard for the city and fans too.

There was a special kind of welcoming for eichel. Sold out arena for his scrimmage. Lots of individual eichel fans as well. First named jersey I've had in years.

T. O. Getting the key to the city was ridiculous

Everyone will be dead inside if we miss the playoffs next year it would be up there with Danny and Drury

Funny how you left out playing hard for his teammates & (most importantly) himself

Boss, no one wants to see Eichel go
But he doesn’t owe the fans anything than an honest effort, which he makes

His contract is strictly between him & the Sabres
Us fans don’t have a role in that

Hopefully we can make a couple good moves and Cozens & Mitts are ready to produce for us
Then we should make the playoffs & we won’t have to worry about it

I’ve been watching a lot of old games from the Briere-Drury seasons
MSG has been showing them here

I’ve got no doubt in my mind we’d have won multiple Cups if Golisano/Quinn/Darcy didn’t screw all that up

That team was so talented that there were playoff games where Derek Roy was playing LW, Kotalik & Pominville spent time on the 4th line, and Vanek was a healthy scratch (after scoring 25goals as a rookie)

If only $$$ wasn’t an issue then
Ugh

What do Makar’s minutes look like? Or Quinn Hughes? Better than them is what all the snake oil salesmen around here were pitching. Ennnnnnt. Wrong again.

Well that’s good then... for now

I think it’s no secret that the Sabres need to win hockey games ASAP

Most of us assume Jack is gonna ask out if we miss the playoffs again next year
If that happens...
we’ve probably gotta blow it all up

Then it’ll be another 3-5years before we are MAYBE a good team
This (seemingly) never ending cycle sucks balls

- jdfitz77

It’s why if we get a legit offer this year in a loaded draft Adams has to seriously consider it. Once he demands a trade GMs will be circling us like vultures.

If LA is offering Turcotte and #2 (Byfield) and something else that would make me consider. Guarantees another top 5 pick next year and we would could have a team like the 06/07 Sabre’s. No superstar but three lines centered by Cozens/Byfield/Turcotte

Why is that a bad thing?
Let them ALL come & make their offers
Drives up the price even more

And if we don’t get the offer we like, that’s fine
Bc he’s still under contract for years to come
There’s no hurry whatsoever to move him

Seems like we suffered alot for eichel. Would be nice to enjoy his talent and see where he brings us?

Cozens at 1c

Not sure he's even an nhl player yet.

How hard is it to surround him with some talent? Maybe mortgage the future a bit now that's hes in his prime?

See ya pick #8
