I love how Tanner can’t fathom why Florida paid Acciari $1.6M x 3 years. Let’s see…

First of all, they probably watch the games rather than the boxscores. Haha.

Maybe the average fan (or blogger) didn’t see it, but those who understood the game could see that Acciari had developed into a very useful player for Boston. He broke in on the wing scoring 10 goals in 60 games, then transitioned to center the next season, and was featured on the Bruins PK. He elevated his game during the playoffs where he chipped in some offense and played steady defense. But after the Bruins added Coyle, they had to choose between Acciari and Sean Kuraly. Kuraly was better on faceoffs, and more importantly, was an RFA that could better fit their cap. Acciari was a UFA. It was reported that he had numerous contract offers…so clearly a few other teams also recognized that he was a valuable bottom 6 player.

While you think anyone who isn't a star is interchangeable and should all make $1M or less, others recognize that locking up a versatile, bottom 6 guy that can take draws, help the PK, and chip in some offense is worth $1.6M, especially when you can lock in at that price for 3 years. The 20 goals was unexpected, and likely an aberration. He should settle into a 10-15 goal guy that can help the PK and anchor a 3rd or 4th line.

I guess if Tanner was GM he would offer $1M. Acciari would laugh at your offer. And then you would just go find some AHL guy and give him a $1M, since they are all interchangeable. Is Nik Petan available?

Lol. Lessons from the guy saying you should have some superstars making $9M and everyone else making $1M or less. Although Hjalmarsson is an exception. Teach me more.
