Even with so many young kids on the brink of being NHL players, it is great to see that we still have such a deep prospect pool down in the lower leagues and college.

More of them seem to have NHL potential than roster spots available. That is a great thing when the team needs to shore up a position of weakness or needs to fill a final piece for a run some time soon. All that while still remaining deep.

Hexy had his foibles, but he left this team in a great position for years to come.

Will Kalnynuk be signing with the Flyers or become a UFA?

Barring some kind of trade, It would have to be with the Flyers. Correct me if I am wrong but as a 2017 non-CHL draftee, he can't become a free agent until 2021.

So, will we get a Cup winner before Labor Day, and will the 20-21 season start by December 1st. If they send NHL players to the 2022 Olympics, we might not see a Cup awarded in June until 2023 or possibly 2024.

And this assumes a new CBA without a lockout.

Because he was a double overager when he was drafted he becomes a free agent this summer. I believe it is 30 days after declaring he is turning pro he can sign with any team he pleases. Hopefully it is the Flyers, but with the depth we have on defence it wouldn't surprise me if he chose somewhere that he would get a quicker shot at the NHL.

I think that, with NCAA players, it's 30 days after turning pro.

So from what I saw so far and of course speculation. With the return to play many are saying meaning games will not probably start until late july. Just sharing.

Guessing they are not anticipating the season starting as normal in oct.

Bill have you seen anything about and extension for the rights to college players extended. And any info on how this impacts free agency as contracts will expire here shortly. Just curious.

Typing and walking. Apologies for the grammar.

I’m sure most first time Olympic chosen players would love to play for their country above anything else. Ovie for example. Giroux has never gone. In fact I would argue Giroux has been screwed over by Yzerman favoring Martin St. Louis. I think Giroux is playing for his own legacy at this point.

I think Giroux’s first priority, by far, is to lead his team to a Stanley Cup.

I've seen Kalynuk play a few times for Wisconsin. Did not notice him all that much, though I understand Flyers are high on him.

I think the league will fight tooth and nail to avoid an Olympic stoppage after all the revenue they’ve missed out on this year. The PA is going to have to make some big concessions to get that done imo.

As desperate as I am for the normal love = hate we have on Flyersbuzz plus playoff hockey I am not sure how I feel about restarting.

Would it be better and or safer to just shut it down and focus on next season in whatever form that returns.

That's what I would have done. I honestly feel it's almost a given someone out of these 24 teams will unfortunately get Covid 19 before season's end.

However with that said, if anyone can beat a virus like this it's a professional athlete.
