There are plenty of stiffs in our system and we have room and flexibility with the number of contracts; so I’m surprised this is the teams decision.
Yes the goal total isn’t eye popping but he’s got a lot of assists. Seems like a Devil-esqe/ Blake Coleman potential player... probably not but why bail?
That said wuzzup with Xavier Bernard??? |

I just hate giving up an asset for nothing - no matter how small that asset is. But then again I am also not an NHL GM.... |

Can't wait to hear this bullpoop.
Hi, 24 teams make the playoffs and 7 other teams can go (frank) off til next year but we are going to have 8 playoff teams participate in the draft lottery because it's not really the playoffs. So bottom line '(frank) New Jersey'

This is the perfect time to do a lottery tournament. I don't see how not playing for almost a full year is fair to any team, or even getting 3 games over a 10 month period. |

Wow. I can see letting go a depth center on a team loaded with centers but considering we don't have Richard for defense and X has been playing well, I am surprised. |

I agree why let an asset go for nothing. I understand we have a lot of 3rd and 4th liners but guys with "heart" are the guys you love see succeed. Bernard I do not see being an NHL Defenseman but we are so weak on D I'd give anyone a chance.
The strangest part is we continue making these decisions and interviewing coaches but do not have a GM. I would like Fitzgerald to be the next GM but either officially give it to him or replace him with someone who is going to be with the team (hopefully) long term before we make these decisions. |

I honestly have no insight as to if either prospect (Hoelscher or Bernard) have any realistic shot as being NHL quality guys; but both of their numbers don't look bad and their write up on Dobber Prospects isn't horrible... If we had real depth I'd get it but we are a mess.
Regardless, yes it's just another day at team rudderless. No GM. No Coach. No Payroll. No desire to sign prospects. Not gonna spend in Free Agency.
Ownership says they want to win now!!! |

I think the NHL just screwed the 7 teams not in the playoffs, including us. |

Per the video conference the regular season is over and 24 teams make the playoffs.
Now the condition per the Blake Coleman's trade is NJ gets Foote and Vancouver's 1st round pick if they don't QUALIFY FOR THE PLAYOFFS.
Does that mean we get their 1st round pick regardless of Vancouver loses in the qualifying round? |

No, they need to win the opening round. The qualifying round doesn't count as the playoffs for conditional picks. If they lose then their pick goes becomes a "lottery pick" therefore they keep it

I like their chances against the Wild. Hopefully they come through. |

Well the Preds SHOULD beat the Yotes.. right? That stout defense?.. albeit an aging Rinne... and Phil should be fat and slow right?
Canucks/Wild will be interesting. Hope I'm wrong, but I see MN winning this best of 5.

Yeah i do too, especially now that they should be fully healthy. And the Yotes get Nashville |

Could be as low as 8th if Montreal and Chicago win. |

This set up makes it more likely the Yotes picks is worse than 10 actually, if one of the top 3 picks is one of the unnamed teams. Since then 8-15 will be a lottery
So we want the top 3 picks to be from the bottom 7 teams. |

That outcome is only marginally more likely than the Yotes themselves moving up. If I were a betting man, I'd say one of Chicago or Montreal gets the upset and the Yotes lose and their pick is 9. |

Yup but we just need to hope all top 3 picks are the bottom 7 teams. So that 8-15 is seeded by points% of the losers, and obviously the Yotes losing to the Preds. If any of the top 3 picks are outside the bottom 7 teams the Yotes have an equal chance of any loser team to move into the top 3 |

Thank you for figuring this out for me. I'm sure it was simple, but I'm triple tasking in a stuffy room cuz I can't get cell service in the basement lol |

I just read how they are planning the draft 3 different times and still don’t fully understand how the Devils are impacted?

so basically, we have 4 key matchups to be watching..
MN vs VAN
ARZ vs NSH
EDM vs CHI
MTL vs PIT
it's exciting to have something meaningful to watch, even if I'm not a fan of doing away with the regular season and everyone hopping into this tourney ice cold. Hope the boys stayed in shape. Should be some highly motivated "tourney teams" to play their way to win the Cup. .. like the habs.. who are 10pts out of a wildcard spot. .. making this very gimmicky.
but whatever. 4 matchups to root for, and hope for the best picks.
Can someone figure out our best case scenario for the Vancouver pick? |
