Saw the Stones at the Amphitheater in the mid-60s, before their (and every bands’) over-produced outdoor-stadium shows - just a great rock-n-roll band doing their blues-based best.

I didn’t go to many live shows back then, but did manage to see the important ones. Wish I could have seen Elvis, when he was still a rocker, before the movies and Vegas - but he never played Chicago. I’m not sure if any of the other Sun Records greats played in the North - they were mostly Southern performers back then.

It would have been fun to see the Winter Dance Party tour back in 1959, before “The Day the Music Died” - Buddy Holly, Dion, Big Bopper, Richie Valens, Waylon Jennings in Holly’s band - but they didn’t get to Chicago, either. At just 14, I’m not sure my parents would have let me go, anyways.

Memories - light the corners of my mind - misty water colored memories - of the way we were....

Saw a couple shows at the Amphitheater in the late 70's before they stopped doing shows there...just UFO though and no Michael Schenker.

When I saw them at SF (2007'ish), they also did a couple unannounced shows at Double Door on Damen, pretty close to where I was living. That place couldn't have held more than 500 people. Would have been a great place to see them play especially at that stage of their career.

Was Brian Jones still with the Stones when you saw them? From the live recording I've heard, the Stones were at their best with him in the mix.
- Beaver-Warrior

Yes - it was mid-60s - just after Satisfaction came out, IIRC.

I'd have to go back and check out their live stuff, and I know early on Jones was kind of the driving force behind the band.

More than Mick? Can't remember but recall reading an excerpt from a book that talked about how as his drug use became more prolific, Mick and Keith started to leverage Jones out of the band.

For their studio stuff, I think the years with Mick Taylor are best and their best with Wood is Some Girls...for me anyway.

You and several others might be interested and may even have an idea the value of old Stones material

I am thinking of the Stones orange vinyl record. And specifically originally it was released with all the cut out faces forming a crossword puzzle or checkerboard box look? There was a lawsuit which forced that album cover to be changed. Who were the faces on that album any anyway?

Lastly, they played a summer concert in 1979 at Soldier Field. Someone back then claimed the sound carried over the Lake Michigan water and they could be heard in Michigan. I don’t think so but good try - as a teenager I questioned if that could be true.

Late add: curious too the value of the lavender color vinyl Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple.

Back in those days even .45 records had pictures. I had one by The Cars.

One issue with the play-in and subsequent CUP is the players would like to see teams re-seeded following each round instead of going bracket-style.

This is why I stuck to explaining this process as it being best vs worst each round...and it looks like that is what the players want...

DID Lil Richard open one?

I was there.

It probably was a lot earlier since I may be much older, as I saw Cream at the old Coliseum and just about everyone, and was a weekend and Tuesday night regular ate the Kinectic playground that replaced the ice on Clark North of Lawrence..

At Double Door? That’s possible but have no idea. Either way, if you were at one of those shows, think that would be pretty awesome.

There is a long video of them at the Double Door in the 90s, I think - also video of them with Muddy waters at the Checkerboard Lounge in the 70s.

Moving Keith would be huge mistake. one of my favorites and some day number 2 will be hanging from the rafters.
- SaskHawkFan

Keith should retire a Blackhawk then given a position in the front office, he needs to be Blackhawk for life.

Alternatively, he should be traded for a 7th round pick and free up some glorious cap space.

I wonder about people's opinions on this decision of 24 team playoff format.

Do you want a higher pick or do you want playoff experience? I'm leaning towards playoff experience.

- I Am The Breadman

This is a deep draft and I haven’t seen if the 24 team playoffs would impact the Hawks draft position.

But I would go for the playoff experience too. I think it would be a tremendous benefit for the likes of DeBrincat, Strome, Boqvist and Dach to get a taste of post season play.

The ice arena turned Rolle rink became the kinetic playground a music venue where if you waited in line and ran fast enough when the doors open you were about ten feet for a weekend show like this one I saw, ELO, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin for $7.

Before we get crazy on the drafts deepness.

I say

there is a deep dozen on REALLY good high end prospects with skills, and feet.

Then there is this tier with more than a dozen with the abilities to jump up to that high end and truly help an NHL club, but where I see the deepness is after that, because the 4th tier of prospects that need to develop... its filled with names that extend farther into the third round than I have ever seen...that is not to say there is a franchise player diamond buried as there may be a guy you take who really helps the NHL team in a bit type...
and most drafts, after slots in the 20s, you start getting iffy, and mid-second selections you start selecting from a list that you were going to pick no matter when you have pick, because they are works in progress, although we look at them optimistically their success is tied to so many improvements.

Maybe it is the nature of the recent improvements in conditioning, coaching and the time a select group of youngsters are now putting in to improve, but I haven't seen this many good fast and hockey smart kids than I do in this one...aqnd remember...none of these kids got in playoffs to look bad and get downgraded either!

Wiz, do you think that Holloway can move up to top ten? Also, it seems like there’s a top seven, and then another few that seem to be more in line with 12-16 slots, or am I wrong here? If the top end talent is gone by the time the Hawks pick, would it make sense to move back a few spots? Maybe get Holloway at 13 or 14.

Hey guys. Bit of off topic here.
My wife is a big penguins fan (keeps things super the two times a year the hawks and pens play). Anyway, the penguins are doing a fan art competition, and I have an submission that I was hoping I could get some support for. (My wife is a fan, and I'm trying to win it for her)

If you could help me out by following this link to vote:

Click anywhere on the page that loads, and you'll be presented with a bunch of choices. Please vote for the penguin holding a hockey stick and wearing a scarf. Looks something like this:

Really appreciate any help!

The drawing is for a series of digital paintings I'm making for all the NHL teams while stuck at home. Haven't done the hawks yet. Kinda saving them for when I get a lot better at it.

Bill, do you see anyone with first-round talent being available late in the second for the Hawks?
- tvetter

Maybe Dylan Peterson . . . lots of USNDP kids are being overlooked because they never had time to develop after the program got decimated by the 2019 draft. He could end up being a first round talent in terms of career achievement.

Thanks, I'll look up his highlights.. I'm still holding out hope that the blood clots scare enough teams away from Justin Barron that he falls to us.

Not sure they are being overlooked. This class was always thought of being relatively weak in top rated prospects.
