If either (or both) the Habs or Hawks eliminate one of the top teams then we'll hear cries so loud it'll make Sabres fans in June of 1999 sound quiet.

For the play in round, teams should be given wins based on current standings. For instance, Penguins versus Habs should be a best of 5, and Penguins start with 2 wins. Will make Habs winning and getting into playoffs the long shot it was already.

Wild's "hot streak" was against non playoff teams. They weren't suddenly playing better, they were suddenly playing teams they were better than. Anything can happen in this dice roll for the playoffs situation though.

Players like Carlson and Makar will put up big points but not Q Hughes mentioned in that "like" group? And Minnesota beats Vancouver. Total disrespect to the Canucks thanksđź‘Ť

Toronto is lucky to play Columbus? You are ignoring the fact that this is just a preliminary playoff round of sorts. With the rumour out there (Elliott Friedman) that the top 4 seeds will not be re-seeded, the Leafs winning would mean they get Boston in the round of 16.

Hmmm....Boston or Toronto in the round of 16...ask any Leafs fan who they would rather face.

The majority of the pens fans I’ve spoke to in the burgh is that if the pens lose it’s disappointing but not unfair.

I think that’s because the team was a tire fire for the weeks leading up to the shut down.

You forgot one: This 24-team playoff gimmick will be an absolute failure.
