So, Pens' lineup sans Simon... (Grinder does a little dance)

Jake-Sid-Sheary
Zucker-Geno-Rust
Marleau-McCann-Horn
Zar-Blue-Tanev

The big question marks to me in setting this up are Marleau and Bjugstad. I mean, chances are Bjugstad will get injured right away anyway, but still...

Now, I don't necessarily WANT Sheary up at Sid's RW, but it just seems that's where he will be.

How we lookin?

Looking like the Pens would have a one game elimination vs Price and the Habs from what Ive read...if it happens at all....50/50 coin toss game

To answer your questions though, looking good.

Wait, what? Where did you read this? I thought they were proposing a best of five?

Yeah I just went right to Sportsnet, who I trust with this stuff, and you are correct.

I must of read it around here or on a less credible site.

In a best of 5 I'd like the Pens to win in 5 to get a few more games under the belt haha.

I'll take four games and not play with fire lol. How about this...

Pens go up 2-0 in the series, lose game three and win in game four? lol

I definitely like the Pens chances against the Habs, a lot, but it's so hard to predict how long it could take a team to get going. Like the regular season, so many sub-par teams come out strong then fizzle and vice-versa.

It would be great if they did like a two week pre-season type thing just to get the legs going.

Im totally fine with winning in 4, 100% haha.

I just think theyre really running out of time here. Its almost June...

I said it over on Eks story the other day...I dont know if I agree with anything they're proposing or them even trying to finish season but I'll sure as hell be watching if they do haha

Now, my assumption is that after the this tournament to decide the bottom four teams in each conference is they'd revert to the old playoff seeding system.

Tournament:
Pens/Habs
Canes/Rangers
Isles/Panthers
Leafs/Jackets

My picks: Pens, Canes, Panthers and Leafs

First Round:
Bruins
Bolts
Caps
Flyers
Pens
Canes
Leafs
Panthers

Bruins/Panthers
Bolts/Leafs
Caps/Canes
Pens/Flyers

I’d prefer:
Zucker-Sid-Sheary
Guentzel-Geno-Rust
Marleau-McCann-Horny
ZAR-Blueger-Tanev

I think its more balanced and every line has some good speed as well as guys who can dig in and get the puck it controlled entries aren’t working.

I think this will be it. As Boyd does below you can argue Guentzel and Zucker swapping (and it probably happens at sone point), but most of the beat guys like Yohe are saying they want to reunite Sid and the Kids and see if they get that chemistry again.

Habs are a little scary to me in that they've also had a lot of injuries and are actually really deep up front and probably could have been at least a bubble team. And I've already got enough bad memories of a Montreal goalie stealing a series from us. Pens should win on paper, but this short series and potential rust has me nervous.

Also, nice to see a little Pens talk back on the board!

A healthy Montreal with a second chance at life, they have a real shot to get hot. Drouin was turning the corner this year and stared to get it. How to be the superstar he was projected to be. It'll be fun regardless of what happens, as long as there's hockey.

I actually like that better, too. I defaulted to Jake with Sid.

Healthy ZAR would complete that very effective defensive forward line... Assuming they could get that level of gel back.l between them.

That's a pretty damn deep forward group. Fvck I wanna watch hockey. Trying not to get hopes up too much haha.

Well, a short series after not playing hockey for months could realistically level the playing field across the board. We have no idea which teams will come out of the gate faster than others. Like in the regular season, you have a group of teams that overachieve early on and then good teams who are slow out of the gate.

While the Habs had their share of injuries, remember also that the Pens dealt with a comical season of injury-issues and will also be 100%.

I'm really hoping that they do a pre-season and let each team get a handful of exhibition games in.
