Hello Todd, Many thanks for the information. I am a big fan of Futa and Bracket is certainly interesting. Either add would be great - but would that mean someone else has to move out? Also think Gillis would be a great add. Not as big a fan on Stevens.

My only concern with Fitzy is I have no idea how much he is close with the other GM's. It's a very small network of operators and you want a guy who has good connections and relationships. But I'm fine with making him the defacto Devil's GM.

Beyond that I'd agree 100% that we should hire very established support people. And that includes the head coach.

Agreed. But I’m doubtful it’s going to happen since we interviewed him weeks ago.

Shero gets an A on his report card as a Dev GM in my opinion. This team was a joke when he joined, and the future's he acquired through trades will continue to help this squad grow. Having to compete with MANY teams to ink Gusev/Butcher, trading for Vats, Palms (or was that lou?), trading for Hall, believing in Coleman.... He did an unreal job setting this team up to sell at a premium. I couldn't be happier with the job he did in NJ.

That being said, Fitz made some amazing moves in his short stint thus far. Vats and Greene both fetched better returns than any other D at the deadline. I was expecting a conditional 1st rd for Coleman, and instead we essentially received 2 1sts, wow! I hope Fitz can recruit UFA's as well as he executes trades. But he certainly has earned a serious look at being our next full-time GM.

All comes don to if FITz can attract UFA 's
Shero has not gone that route . And overpaying is not the ay to go but sometimes filing out roster on short contracts to fill needs is the way to navigate the UFA pool....

example we need a few D men while our young D men get ready .

The UFA market might be another advantage to the Devils. A lot of teams will be cash strapped and in this pandemic scenario a lot of teams might avoid long term contracts. That way teams with space can overpay UFA on one year deals and depending on how the season plays out might have a number of attractive trade deadline targets. As good as this year if for top quality forwards, next years draft is loaded with top end D prospects and a goalie comparable to Askarov.....as Devils fans we still have to think about the long-term plan.
