Tyler Cameron: "Best of" Blackhawks Armchair GMing – Part 3
How is everyone doing out there? Has anyone learned any new skills? Guitar? A new language?

Ok, moving on to hockey; we have our 3rd edition of "Armchair GMing".

This week will feature GM Savard2Secord. Here is the team he has put together...

LA will never do that deal. They already have $11 mil. in dead money on Richards, Phoenuf and Kovalchuk. They would not take Shaw. They do not need a $4 mil. dollar third pairing defenseman either. I do not see a fit with the Kings, unless we give them a forward that is a top 6, or is projected to be a top 6, which is what the Hawks are looking for.

They love Cal Peterson in goal, but with the trade of Campbell, there is no one besides Quick that is NHL ready. I believe they keep Quick as the veteran back-up to Peterson.

As bad as the defense looks on paper, I believe they will resign Ben Hutton as a veteran, and they have some young D that have played on the NHL already and others that they are very high on Clague, Bjonfort, Mikey Anderson, Macdermind.

Offensively they are very weak. The top 6 right now is Brown, Kopitar, Iafolo, Carter, Kempe Frk. Doubt Turcotte will be ready next year. Gabe Villardi has a bad back and is often injured.

And if there is a compliance buyout, Jeff Carter is the one they would launch.

Me? I've been working on a side-project that I am really excited about and will be able to share with you soon.

Actually, maybe you can help me out?

I have a question for you all, how many of you out there have kids? And if you have kids, what's the best part of being a parent? What's the hardest?

- Tyler Cameron

Trying to work on some smaller house projects that I now have time to do.

Besides the house projects, we have a Nintendo Switch so playing the Just Dance game with the kids and thoroughly embarassing myself. They're way better at all games than me except Mario Kart.

Best part of being a parent: having fun with the kids, making sure they are happy.

Toughest part: home schooling and now worrying about keeping them healthy.

That team is terrible. The trades are unrealistic at best. The Yotes are no longer a dumping ground for bad contracts. Why in the world would anyone want Quick? He is done and even more injury prone than Crow.

Signing Subban? Special K? Let them both move on. You won't regret it.

That roster you've just created is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent proposal were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I’ll give credit for trying, but do not like any of the moves.
1. Toffoli’s $5.5M will get you 20 goals and nothing else
2. We cannot afford $10M on goalies
3. Detroit will not trade you Velano for what you’re giving up, they are hoping to reunite Lafreniere with Velano.
4. We need some veteran presence on D, with DeHann and Seabrook questionable we may need to hang on to Maatta.

Hey TC. No kids (I find that they are always sticky, and I don't like that).

I've gotten back into woodworking. The wife likes the results, but can't stand the noise or smell of stain.

Being a former chemist, I've gone back to all of my old textbooks and notes to refamiliarize myself with all the fun development work I used to do.

Sto imperando l'italiano.

I hope everyone stays safe. I just braved Costco and the grocery store in So Cal. I'm outside LA county, so masks are not mandatory, but everyone seems to be wearing one regardless. California is seeing some comparatively mild numbers so it seems to be working.

I have not come across information regarding the economics of finishing out this suspended NHL season.

Looking at the financial windfall for only playoff qualifying teams, the immediate thought is - windfall is not even a consideration for fruition. Owners aren't playing games if no fans show up. But they might play if a shortened format and monies does not need to be returned else then they have to return money to prepaid ticket holders. What about TV revenue and a contract to televise games.

And BTW the ice is not good if the weather in July even August is 90° +.. A grave concern is lawsuits and protecting players from contracting the virus. Operating a stadium is an expense too. Another point of contentiin- player contracts end June 30 but games played after that is/not possible? !Provision for any of these issues is covered in the player associated contract with the NHL?

I don't think Detroit or LA would go for either deal. Would be a bonus to send Zack on his way but the offered compensation will not get Veleno. As for the LA trade, I don't think you could get that approved in NHL 20. I don't see LA taking on Shaw's salary with his concussion issues and I would assume that they would prefer to keep Quick as a backup. I don't want to see Quick in a Hawk sweater ever. Nor do I want Subban as Crawford's backup, ever.

I do agree with the compliance buyout for Seabrook, that is just such a bad contract (Note for Stan). A close second to that would be Shaw's if you can't off load him (which would have to be sweetened, which Stan is good at).

Absolutely NO to the Toffoli signing, he is a streaky player and really doesn't play much defense and I just don't see him as a 1st line player. I would much prefer Kubalik on the first line, I think he has earned that much after his year (partial as it was/is). I would spend my FA $$$ somewhere else, like on veteran off-D who can make a routine pass to clear the zone or a really good backup Goalie who will be playing (if Crawford is resigned).

I think that about covers it.
