I stopped by the Hawks section on HF boards for poops and giggles. There was a thread titled “If the Hawks get 2 buyouts who would you pick?” or something along those lines.

So I jokingly commented “Kane and Toews”....and then the mods quickly deleted the post and banned me from making any further replies. 😂😂😂

Must be Eli running the show over there...

Without looking it up, I'm going to guess there aren't many GMs that have drafted 2 1st ballot HOFers out of 5 consecutive 1st rounds.

Heck, I'd guess there are entire drafts that don't produce 2 HOFers.

Note to self: research project, # of HOFers per NHL draft.

Calm down.

All I'm saying is you invoked only 3 years of drafting and said he was 67% successful at drafting.

I'm just pointing out that you have to take all the years if you want to invoke a percentage of success.

made no point on the fact that it was very nice that he drafted on sure HOF'r, and one probable.

Sounds like you have an agenda, you should be in the media..............

This MIGHT be good news.

The league is talking about going with the results of 68 games as their determining factor on who would play in a playoff IF there is one.

That means that the final point totals changed slightly with the hawks having one less win and then a total of of 69 points while Montreal had losses in their "shaved off" games.

That would mean that prior to the lottery balls, the hawks would be selecting from slot 8 or if teams behind them win, 9 , 10 even 11.

I like what is there, but my greedy draft infused brain likes 1, 2 ,3, or 8 better than later...it just gives them more options.

Someone ahead of 8 may reach, and better to be there at 8 to capitalize.

I don't want to even think about if we can jump into the top spots...

Well hope it true ,bounces us up about another 3% to Draft in the Top 3 and another 1 % for that Number 1 spot !!! . Our odds at 8 are better to move into the top 3 then Detroit has to get the number one overall .

The Avalanche vs. Senators arguement. Both have cap space but opposite ends of the spectrum

Just read that the expected Chicago Bulls new EVP hire is the first outside hire to run basketball operations since Reinsdorf bought the team in 1985.

I can not comprehend that. Loyalty is one thing, but I’m hoping Rocky isn’t taking a page out of Jerry’s book here.

Stan needs to be on the thinnest of ice heading into next season.

I thought it was amusing that TSN went to tankathon and did what we all can do over and over ...press draw... and then the wrote an article on how "Detroit and Montreal were the 'big" winners.
It kinda negates the reality of Ottaw's 25 % chance to win that top spot.

I think this was just a space filler for Button top again push his list, and yet again call Drysdale as he did last year with Byram the next generation of super star defenseman.

Let me just tell you to read my evaluations on DraftSite...ok?

both have wheels

Bowen is bigger in where IF he was to develop better defensive anticipation and sense, he COULD find use for it besides his obvious centre like generation skills in the attack zone, but there is a proclivity in his game to enter the attack zone, spend an overly amount of walking and looking for a teammate.
(You know what I mean because we have glimpses in Boqvist' attacks (that in my opinion are better when he finds a shot opening, and scampers back into his defense position.

Drysdale is smaller but even though he is able to cut and slash to the outside looking for options like Byram, he uses his strong lower body to explode everywhere, cut quickly and doesn't waste time "lingering" finds a play or an idea for a look, tries to initiate it, and gets himself ready for the puck to transition back against his team.
Both have feet but Drysdale has perfected the defensive end using his skills in most engagement to his side of the ice, and surprises, in the same way that young Duncan Keith surprised us with how he was a defender and not just a small forward.

I read what others are saying about how the Hawks even if the moved into slot three would HAVE to target a forward where their stable needs an upgrade.

I am not so sure if they would pass on him or at least have him in the conversation because he has been a pretty good OHL defender for more than this season and has shown that in international play a couple years too.
I am trying to say, there is a consistent pattern of good habits.

I hope I answered that a bit anyway....I am not one to predict how a certain young prospect at dee is going to be this or that...so much more has to get filled in on the road to the NHL, including continued teaching, and filling out.

So many misses. Ty Jones, Anton Babchuk, Dan Cleary never made it here. EDIT: I mean he never was an accomplished player for the Blackhawks.

Lots of bad or weak drafts in 1990's.

Ethan Moreau worked out well (1980's). Adam Bennett, E Sanipass. How about Bruce Cassidy, current Bruins head coach.

Good pick Jeremy Roenick

- jhawk59

I remember getting the program for the game and seeing the "Down On Farm" section and there would be Cassidy's picture. Saeson after season after season. Wasn't his career cut short because of injury?

If Drysdale is available to the Hawks at #3 or later they take him and deal with overcrowded defence numbers later. He's a real player. My prediction is he will be an Ottawa Senator.

Yeah, I dont think he lingers long no matter who wants him...but I thought it was interesting in a latest predictions of who they draft by "someone" said Buffalo has need for pivot prospect but wouldn't hesitate if an "elite game changing" defenseman is there.

All the Irish fan funerals on the loss of Henri Jokiharju and the fact that the Sabres drafted Rasmus Dahlin first overall kinda puts things in perspective if they feel it is still such a large organizational need...

I would be fine with Drysdale. You can't have too many young top end D prospects. If they pan out and you don't have enough room on the blue line you can easily move one of them for a young established top 6 forward.

Every team in the NHL could use a young Top 4 dmen. Those are gold and arguably have the highest trade value.

I thought Joki was a shoe in top pairing D guy?!!!! Perhaps some of us here overvalue him just a tad.

Golfed with Brad once. He had some amazing stories.

The best were about Donald Brashear who would bring his great Dane into the locker room and eat fried chicken with when he was a healthy scratch.

Said he was legit crazy.

Very interesting, Wiz and worth keeping an eye on when the NHL decides it's fate for this year.
