I have to give the edge to Sweden in a tight thriller. Checko plays an amazing game but Renberg and Forsberg create just enough scoring chances to cash in. Big Kjel is able to contain and effectively neutralize a game Jagr. Jake and Vinny do their damnest to create but, ultimatley cant solve prime Pelle

2-0 Sweden

I'm with Kingkenzo and picking Sweden, but this is a much tighter game than one might expect. I think Sweden wins it 3-2 in double OT with Forsberg setting up Renberg on a blind backhand sauce pass over sticks and skates to the barely open net far side for a quick dunk. Game over!

1-0 Sweden on a Kim Johnsson end to end rush similar to his beauty back in 05-06 against the Rangers.

When you add the poll, it's been pushing the text to the middle.

I wouldn't bet against any Swedish team that has Peter Forsberg in it. The guy was a beast in playoffs and international tourneys. Just a flat out beast.

Definitely the tightest of all matchups thus far but I went with Sweden.

For what is being described as a tight battle, the voting sure seems to be lopsided

I wonder if people can vote more than once? Survey Monkey used to have some issues with this in the past.

Yes it does, like many others believe, the Czechs are pretty good and have a tight lineup, but Sweden has some guy named Forsberg that tilts the scales, even if just by a little bit.

Should have been a tighter vote. That Czech team isn't a pushover.

There is a way for people to vote multiple times, which I think happened yesterday.

If anyone knows of a more secure (but free) survey marker, I would be interested. I may just sim the rest of the round robin portion and then resume reader voting for the playoff round.

I will do at least one more day of round robin voting first: Manitoba vs. Quebec.

Cechmanek put up great numbers but he never bonded with his teammates and never did much postseason. Pelle more than equals him out in goal and that Swedish line is just dominant up front. Even as late as 05-06, Forsberg was still one of the best players in the world and Renberg was one of the top 3-4 wingers in the NHL in 94-95. Add to that Forsberg’s ability to win a game by himself and it’s pretty hard to pick team Czech.

I think most sites will, at best, use IP addresses to limit multiple voting. But this is easy to get around if people are determined enough, which I assume will not be the case.

Poll-maker, here, seems to suggest you can restrict multiple votes: https://www.poll-maker.com/Guides

A fool proof way would be for everyone to simply respond with their votes like a post, so they would have to log in.

I could volunteer to tally them.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again...one of you kids should create these teams and simulate them against each other on your video PlayStation

It might be a closer game but I don’t think it’s a close vote.

An EA Sports simulation version saw Alberta win, 3-2, behind a 42-save performance by Carter Hart

My alternate take:

The Czechs.

Because of the Superior Healthy Hygiene Factor.

Czechs consume more beer than any other nation in the world. And not just for drinking. They bathe in that stuff. They probably are using it now as sanitizer on everything. And it's not that watered-down stuff that is ubiquitous in the US.

Meanwhile, the Swedes all stink of lutfisk.

Bill's quote is taken from his current blog.

Don't know if the simulation (as a video?) got posted online anywhere.
