Can not believe this guy was traded for Hall. League MVP, power winger, about to cash in on some 7 year 8 mil per deal.
How many years later, Larsson still bouncing from 2nd and 3rd pair D.
Worst 1 for 1 in my memory.

Well, that's just tangibly false. He's consistently been in the top-4 and often sees his pairing taking the harder minutes. Not gonna defend the trade, but you can attack it without misrepresenting reality.

Hall is a band aid that makes every team he plays for worse.

Fact, he also is not a nice person . Sucks he is my kids favorite player. I call him Taylor “Bum” Hall.

I'd say a B- is fair honestly considering the injury he had and how he rebounded back.

A solid #3 that can play top 2 minutes (injury) if needed when on his game. Plays tough minutes and is the kind of player you want in a deep playoff run (IMO).

Would definitely be considering offers to move him though, especially if it brings back a good top 6 piece.

Larsson could really shine and rise to the tough grind of a post-season.

Which he did in the last playoff run the Oilers had.

6 points in 13 games (led all Oilers defensemen) 1 GWG. Highest TOI (compared to other Edmonton Players). Led all players in hits by the 2nd round. Not to mention the one game against the ducks where he played 44 minutes in a game that had 2OT and did really well individually. Not to mention he was assigned tough minutes.

Definitely not a top 2 stud in the long run ( ), but he has his moments. A solid #3 when on his game.

1 for 1 it was stupid. Overpayment, as it was since the trade was made. A first rounder at least should have come back our way. However, the trade wasn't as bad as some make it out to be.

What really (frank)ed us were the Reinhart and Eberle deals. Now those were just ridiculously stupid.

I'd say mainly the Reinhart deal, was that ever dumb. With the Eberle deal, Strome just didn't figure it out here, but look at him this year. The cap savings being immediately handed to Russell was the worst part of the Eberle deal. To be honest, I'd probably rather not have Ebs now at his current cost. Now, the Strome for Spooner deal, that was another story.

Yeah, that Reinhart deal was just stupid beyond stupid. Like damn. The last thing we needed was an unproven LHD. Plus the picks we gave up in what was an insanely deep draft...

As for the Eberle for Strome deal, the trade just didn't make sense in the first place. Why was there a need to make the trade? If anything, Eberle should have been traded for a top 4 defender at the time to solidify a D-corps of Larsson, Nurse, Klefbom. Not to mention Strome was relatively unproven in terms of what he could do consistently.

Eberle was coming of a "weak" 51 point campaign, but if anything, it may have been a minor blimp. His SH% was well below his career average that year. He then goes on to have another 60ish point campaign with NYI the next year. Has a dip the following year, but has an insane playoff run (9 points in 8 games) which destroys some of the points made by critics regarding playoff performances. Last year, he did pretty well considering he came back from injury.

Also, I wouldn't put a lot of weight on Strome's points totals. A lot of NYR fans think he isn't that good and he is just being held up by Panarin's fantastic year (Hart-Finalist worthy imo).

However, that can be debated.
