Actually the Avalanche did trade for a goalie (although not a very good one). So therefore, Sakic made more than just the one move for Namestnikov.
Kevin, you’re usually better than this.

I didn't even notice. What goalie did they pick up? (I'm too lazy to go look lol)

Hutchinson from the Leafs. Grubauer still hurt and they need someone to backup Francouz

Florida is better with Haula & Wallmark. If you watched any Panthers games for the last, oh, I don't know, 2 years, you'd know Trocheck is wildly overrated and he is a bottom 6 player. Florida will be tougher to play against and better defensively down the middle. But why let that get in the way of any chance to call Florida losers?

My initial reaction when I saw this trade was that Florida won big in the long term. The more I look at it the more convinced I am that this is the case. I initially thought it benefited Carolina more in the short term but you are right, Trocheck is pretty inconsistent. It is unusual that two teams in playoff position would make a trade, though.

I agree that Trocheck is a little overrated because of that once season which appears to be an outlier, but isn’t that kinda Haula’s case as well? Did Florida really get enough real pieces considering that although Trocheck isn’t a 70+ point guy, he’s still pretty reliable for at least 50 when healthy, and provides nice secondary scoring.

I mean, Haula’s outlier was like 55 points. 45-50 is about what you can expect from Trocheck if his ankles allow him to can stay on the ice. Haula is like a 30-35 point dude regularly.

I’m not trying to say that Trocheck is great, but I dunno if he psyched about trading him considering the return. I guess we’ll see?

I wasn’t really blown away with the other pieces they acquired, either

The idea is that Trocheck is, at worst, probably a 40~ point guy and $4.75 million is a pretty reasonable price for that kind of production.

Meanwhile, Haula is a pending UFA and Wallmark a pending RFA who is probably going to get a raise that pays him more than he's worth. Priskie is promising but he'll be 24 years old in two weeks. Luostarinen is the only guy I worry about losing because he's been solid.
