I do like Sheary. I think he was a very good fit here and probably would be again given that he’s not old and we’ve reverted back to the system that he was successful in. That being said, his handedness is an issue for me, so I don’t really want to expend assets on him. If he costs near nothing, sure. We’re injured enough this season that we can use him, and he’s a rental so we don’t have to commit to him long term if we want to go in other directions. But I also think there are more useful pieces out there.
That being said, usually when the beat starts talking about stuff like this it’s because it’s in the works, so some of the old Sheary haters on this sub should probably start warming up to the move now. |

Blandisi is our leading AHL scorer (I think) so maybe it’s for a depth D? |

24 and 25 year old AHL'ers. Return is probably depth for Wilkes. |

Hearing that the Penguins have made a trade with Montreal, and that Joseph Blandisi and Jake Lucchini are two of the pieces heading to Montreal.

Duclair has found a way his entire career to produce with his natural talents, but has never stuck in a place because of his style of play. He would be in Sully's doghouse in two weeks. |

That's about how I feel. I wouldn't bench anyone for Sheary and he disappeared a lot in the playoffs, but it's not terrible if they get him. I'd just prefer someone else. |

The Penguins have acquired forwards Riley Barber and Phil Varone from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Joseph Blandisi and Jake Lucchini.

Duclair playing 1st line minutes in ottawa and sheary getting 3rd/4line minutes, so not quite apples to apples

You're probably right. Piecing together what GMJR has said the past few days... 'depth forward'... 'possibly one with championship experience' .... 'someone good in the room'.. plus linkage by credible reporters... I'd say odds are at 85%.
Which also makes me sad because I think this is a year to go all in ..the east is so stacked and one more piece could really tilt the balance in our favor.
Speed is great but I'm still worried about a 7 game series with the Caps or Bruins. Sheary has to score to be useful and right now hes in a neck and neck battle with Dom Simon to hit 10 goals. |
