the only 3 things I wish would have been different in that ceremony:

1. not sure why he wasn't there, but I REALLY wish Volchenkov had been there. those 2 together were the best shut down pair in the league when they were together.

2. I wish they had the players wear all the different jersey's in warmp, like they did when they retired Alfi's number

3. I wish Alfi would have been more involved, as the only other player with his number retired (for the modern franchise)

those are just minor "tweaks" I would have loved, but you're right, it was an awesome ceremony.

If they can get the right numbers for a deal with Pageau, I vote to sign him now.

He is a great skater and has several good years left. If he wants a deal of more than 4 years, trade him.

Really enjoyed the game last night. Had a Buddy over for the game, he is a Leaf fan. So, we watched both games simultaneously.

It was a very good night.

Ottawa has had our number for flippin' years now...

I always liked Anderson, though. Nice to see him hit 200 with you guys. You're killing us this year, seriously, we don't get stomped by you guys every time, we're still chasing 8th.

I think we're done.

Yeah, the A Train would have been a good guy to see there.
Have to admit didnt watch most of the ceremony, opted for pts vs tor. I do find the nbc commentators amusing. They talk through the game as if its baseball and nothing is happening

I object to this characterization of baseball.

I read last night brady is on track to be the first NHL player to register 300 shots and 300 hits in one season. awesome stuff.

number one thing I love about brady is even when hes not on his A game offensively some nights, which is a rare occurence of late.

you know he'll finish every check, agitate the other team, draw penalties, drive the net with reckless abandon etc. he can directly impact the game in so many ways.

more skilled guys like hoffman , when he wasn't on offensively you weren't getting a whole lot else of anything that night.

Points Per Game + Draft lottery

1. DET - 0.5484
2. LAK - 0.8733
3. OTT - 0.8833
4. NJD - 0.9153
5. ANA - 0.9322
6. SJS - 0.9492
7. MTL - 1.000
8. CHI - 1.0169
9. BUF - 1.0333
*MIN - 1.0517

Key points: Sens fans can cheer for NJD, ANA, MTL, CHI, BUF. Of course LA is in there for the Sens, however, it is really ANA, MTL, MIN that I would look at because Chicago, Buffalo will not go into "sell" mode and look like they will surpass the 80 point mark. San Jose is on pace for just under 78 points

Dorion just continues to look like a bigger horses ass with each subsequent trade

^maybe after seeing how bad he did on Demelo, he’ll actually make better deals on the rest of his UFAs?

Or just stick to being owned in almost every deal because he’s just not good at making deals.

At least we’re gna be loaded with cap space for next season..and we’ll be able to make even more moves with teams looking to dump salary or trade valuable players.

Seattle is coming, hopefully Dorion uses the cap to his advantage...God I hope he has a brain.

Two things of note...

1) A game between two teams in the East should never start at 8PM. After the ceremony was completely the talking heads talked and talked. What's the freaking hold up?

2) Martinez got TWO 2nd round picks. Just incase you weren't convinced Dorion phucked up bad on the DeMelo trade.

tells us that he spoke to a number of teams around the NHL about the Sens return for Dylan Demelo. His response:

"No one was going to pay a second round pick for Dylan Demelo. I didn't get a single team that said, 'Yeah, they could have gotten a second.'"

Yeah, last time I checked, he was fourth in the AHL in
points. Not bad for his first year turning pro.

Edit: He's currently 3rd right now.

Rookie scoring leaders in the AHL is such a crapshoot. (The AHL website lets you organize by rookies and year)

Still, never a bad thing to have a guy put up points in the minors at such a young age. Not all those guys scored so many goals either.

Norris, Formenton, Batherson all in top 10 of AHL scoring.

Mikko Rantanen, Frank Vatrano, Matt Murray all won the past few years (rookie scoring). Formenton and Norris both 1st year pros, really good signs here

I believe Formenton is one of those few players that actually gets better at each new higher level of competitive challenge. His speed and anticipation benefit directly from playing with higher skilled players. He will top out as a first line NHL player.

So did Appleton, and Danny O'regan.

Now obvisouly we need to take into account a player's age, the fact these guys didn't score as many goals as Norris. I'm excited to see Norris get a shot next year.

Just saying there's a lot of fluctuation here.

who was the guy that Ottawa had in the late 00's who led the AHL in scoring, a couple of times I think, but was a career AHLer and looked AWFUL the couple of times they called him up................to save my life I can't think of his name.
