Hains: The One that Got Away
A lot of former NHL players are in Québec city right now be it because their son is playing in the pee-wee tournament or because they are coaching a team, for Owen Nolan, it’s both of these reasons. |

Solid info. I never knew that. Owen Nolan a Hab? That would've been interesting. I'm still bitter about the Habs gifting Patrick Roy to the AVS. The Red Wings pasted Roy and the Habs 11-1 and Tremblay left Roy in the net to embarrass him. Roy gets traded to Colorado who eliminate Detroit in the WCF. No way Colorado wins either of those 2 Cups without Roy. Thanks Habs! |

Great blog Karine!
You're abolutely right about Houle and Temblay sending us into a Dark Age.
Everything from drafting to development has been a disaster ever since.
If we look at our current lineup, very few players have been developed in-house ... no wonder why we've been where we are in the standings for years.
Nolan would have been great in a Habs jersey for sure. |

no matter what, Montreal would have never got a fair return for Roy, you're trading horses for ponies, Like when the Bruins traded Thorton or Seguin. Good read though. |

I don't know the kid but I see he's a D ... that is definitively our weakness at this time. |

He's Geoff Sanderson's kid too
And I don't know too much either, just what I read but like you said, their biggest need and he's the only one they wouldn't really be reaching for in the 10-15 slot, where they'll most likely pick |

Yeah, when other GM's know you NEED to make a trade then you're never going the get full value for your asset.
Gotta give credit to the Bruins however, they've made some good picks over the years and it shows in the results these days. |

Must be pretty good at it if he's ranked in the top 15, right? |

He likely is. I just remember his Dad being allergic to playing any defense when he played. He could score though. |

Yea he could, real fast...
Jake is ranked #2 amongst D on most lists, so if available when they go up, he'd be my pick... but I fired all my scouts so wtf do I know? |

Speaking of the One that Got Away ...
Just for fun, I was looking at the 2003 draft (when Patrice Bergeron was picked 45th overall).
We picked Andrei Kostitsyn (10th) and Cory Urquhart (40th) before him ... I know hindsight is 20/20 but damn!
And he was in our own backyard in the Q. |

Not only that, he was playing on the same team as 2002 Montreal draft pick Jonathan Ferland. |

Yep ... and we've been looking for a 1st line center like forever ...
Timmins should have been fired ages ago, his lack of results speaks for itself. |

you obviously don't know the guy. or did you just google his name?
(frank) off with your garbage, I'd take Trocheck before Domi, before Drouin, and many others. the guy plays big and can put the puck in the net,
and btw, I know it won't happen, I specifically wrote they want a dman, and Habs have none beside Scandella.
so don't ruine my Sunday and move along, tks |
