That's what I mean. Yzerman may want to tank next season too. Blashill is the perfect coach for tanking.

Good point. The Red Wings will also be horrible next season.

They’re selling futures for sure. I will be excited to see Seider start in Detroit though. Man that kid is fun to watch

Jets fan here, how's fan support in Detroit, is it starting to wane?
Are fans tiring of the mediocrity and are expecting a better on ice product next season??
Just can't see a fanbase that had such a strong team for so long putting up with this much longer.

Really hoping the Wings land the 1st overall pick. I think Gallant would be a good coach for any team.

We're just happy Holland is gone. He did alot of damage to this Franchise. It'll take Yzerman a few years to clean up his mess but we're willing to be patient. It's tough watching this team right now but we know good things are coming.

Winning the draft lottery would be nice but I'm expecting the Wings to draft 4th. Bettman has hated the Red Wings ever since Mister I wouldn't shake his hand after game 7 of the 2009 SCF. It's no coincidence the Red Wings have dropped down in the lottery draft the past 3 years. It'll happen again.

Gallant is who I'm hoping for. I wrote an article on it recently. But anyone is a huge upgrade over Blashill. https://my.hockeybuzz.com...t_id=18354&user_id=260330

He didn't shake his hand for the crazy schedule pushed onto the Wings, with the final starting basically the next day.
And Bettman hated Holland for starting the cap circumvention, not the WIngs per say.

It's the only time I can ever recall the SCF being pushed up a week. Plus Games 1 and 2 were back to back. Ridiculous. The Red Wings actually won both those games mainly because Osgood stood on his head. But the Wings were so banged up going into that series. Datsyuk didn't even play in the WCF vs Chicago. Hossa was playing with a separated shoulder. Lidstrom had surgery on his balls thanks to Patrick Sharp. Rafalski was getting cortisone shots for his back. An Extra week off would've made a huge difference.

But Uncle Gary had to get Poster Boy Sid his Cup. So he made sure to take advantage of a wounded Red Wings team. Malkin starts a fight after Game 5 which calls for an automatic 1 game suspension but nope. Malkin gets to play Game 6 where he's the Pens best player.

But I'm over it. No really. I am.

Mike Ilitch. Red Wings owner. He shook Mario Lemieux's hand.

Its one thing to be the worst team in the league, and many great teams tank for a year or two........However, you are 22nd in fights and 28th in hits. That is unacceptable. If you suck, at the very least make teams resent your matchups. I don't watch much Det hockey, but I have watched the first 2 periods today and there is absolute no pulse with this team. At the very least call up some AHL psycho to go take runs at the stars who are simply padding their stats.

Dylan McIlrath played a few games and added some snarl. But he was too tough for Blashill. He's a plug but at least opponents are less brave when he's sitting on the bench. Good thing useless Abdelkader plays each game though. Great value there.

Exactly. As crazy as it sounds you can lose exciting games. At least bring some physicality to the game. Looks like a Swiss B team out there. Nothing for the fans to cheer for. At this point you, Det doesn't stand a chance at catching LA for 30th, so bring in some grit and let the fans cheer for something.

Actually Bettman hated the Red Wings before then. Remember when he stuck them in the Western Conference for years having the worst travel schedule?

Agreed. Malkin should have been suspended for game 3 where he assisted on all 3 Pittsburgh goals with Pittsburgh winning 3-2. Also when Pittsburgh had too many men on the ice when the Red Wings were leading 2-1 at the time, the linesmen were telling the extra player(s) to get off the ice. Shortly after that fiasco a penalty was called on the Red Wings, and of course Pittsburgh tied the game at 2-2. Also remember all the 5 on 3's Pittsburgh had against the Red Wings in both the 2008 and 2009 SCF's? I now call the 5 on 3 The Pittsburgh 5 on 3.
