Totally agree. Despite the lack of success that he had, I was still a bit surprised they fired him when they did. As you mentioned, I think the combination of the Hynes extension, along with his unwillingness to fire him (when every person close to the team knew the locker room was lost) was the last straw for ownership as well.

I have to agree with this also. The Hynes extension was awful and then the slow-mo firing just snuffed out any hope of a turn around. AND THEN picking Nasreddine to be the interim coach felt like a giant F.U. to everyone for making him fire Hynes; because Nas had such a long history with Hynes and Nas's D was arguably more of a problem then the offense.
HOWEVER: I also felt like ownership could have stepped in and said to Ray not to offer any or a big extension to Hynes when the team sucked ass AND could have told Ray Ray that he had to move faster on getting rid of Hynes and pick a legit head coach: WHICH really should have been done if they wanted to have any shot at keeping Taylor Hall. Although it seems Hall was pretty sure he was moving on and Shero was pretty sure he was moving him.
Considering how much ownership clearly loved Hall, it could have been better for them to get involved earlier and in a productive manner. Firing Shero after the season turns into a train wreck and not installing a real GM or Head Coach is not a recipe for success.
Marty Brodeur is a heartbeat away from running this organization. I love him, but he could be the next Garth Snow.
