Why? LTIR and it’s gone. There’s no dancing around whatsoever.
- Pacificgem

His cap relief kicks in after the season starts. You can't go and sign his replacement until the season has started times three years.

His cap relief also applies to the summer, new rules, if they’re up against the cap ceiling. Plus the 10%. It’s a non-issue.

He wouldn’t count against the cap summer or winter, LTIR is all year long...he gone.
- Pacificgem

Then why do teams trade their LTIR if it doesn't make a difference?

You need context in your statements though because you constantly mislead. The Canucks have drafted 6th, 23rd, 5th, 5th, 7th & 9th overall, four of those are in the six, where the Flyers have drafted 17th, 7th, 22nd, 2nd, 14th & 14th, not nearly as good regarding position.

All that said, Hextall also put Aube-Kubel, Lindblom, Hart and Vorobyov on the team in the second round and beyond as well as trading up for Konecny and Frost who are also on the team. That’s ten players, pretty damn good!!

Take your own advice and put in all the context you are talking about and you will see how wrong you are.

Because of the 50 man roster limit, which includes LTIR players, and money, uninsured contracts (affordability).

Hextall and his group did a masterful job on the draft floor, much better than Benning even with the Patrick (frank)up, trades and UFA signings not so much.

He should concentrate on getting better and hopefully enjoy a normal life. Hockey's not that important.
- VanHockeyGuy

I think fans need to separate the fact and fiction.

Not being able to play hockey does not mean he can't enjoy a normal life. He did not roll into Utica in a wheel chair and dark sun glasses. He said in an interview last week he feels great for some time now.

His career sounds like it could be over and like Dorsett . DD seems to be enjoying life and was well compensated by playing the game he loved. Being an older person you are probably aware that we all go through discomfort in life the older we get

Well we are close to the 50 man roster too. BTW I think you are wrong on this.

Can LTIR be used in the off-season?
Yes, LTIR can be used in the off-season while the 10% off-season cushion is active. LTIR in the off-season is calculated using the basic equation outlined above, which permits a team to exceed the off-season salary cap. To use off-season LTIR the team must provide doctors proof that the player in question will continue to be injured at the beginning of the regular season for 10 NHL games and 24 calendar days.

At the start of the season the teams LTIR relief & ACSL is recalculated when the 10% cushion is removed.

Glad Kesler was there. All the key Canucks were there over from over the years.

Would have been nice if King Richard and Harold Snepsts were there.

He can go on in the summer but that does not mean the Canucks can be 10 % over on the start of the season. I am not positive about any of this but I would still rather do a Rock DiPietro and have a 6 year 1 mil penalty and forget Ferland was ever a Canuck

Sure, which is why I don’t think Benning is some miracle worker just like I don’t think Chevy in Winnipeg is either, or Craig MacTavish for picking Draisaitl 3rd overall is, etc. etc.

You get great players at the top of the draft, that’s the beauty of tanking, Benning accomplished what I wanted, unfortunately he was trying to be competitive but unintentionally tanked....which is why he’s an idiot

10% over during off season, cap compliant day 1 of the season.

Cap works differently now then R D's buyout I believe

#Canucks SHL

HV71 4 Linkoping 2 FINAL

18 year old Arvid Costmar was called up to the SHL today to be Linkoping's 13th forward. He made the most of his 1:07 TOI scoring his 1st SHL 🚨 on his 1 shot of the game leaving him with a +1 in the 4-2 loss.
