I mean how many kids from Arizona make the NHL ? Would that have been a deterrent from selecting Matthews ?

If the kid can play, he can play

I do look forward to all the draft comparables to Leon though just because they are both German even though they are completely different players.

- Pegullaville

I've often wondered if tmgm partiality based his pick on mceichel and a nice Canadian boy like sam for continuity reasons?

Seems like McDavid and leon are fine 🙂

Stop trying to trade our 1st 😡😡😡
- jdfitz77

Trading our 1st for a guy drafted in the first last season doesn't seem to be a negative (was ranked between 5-12 in most predraft rankings) 68 pts in 64 gms last year and already has 50 pts in 32 gms this year. Again, make it a top 8 protected if that helps, but getting Krebs would help sooner than anyone we draft this year.
The experts have said that each year the draft will be considered deeper than the year before, because the talent level keeps getting better and better.

Krebs only on pace for around 20 goals this year
He’s nowhere near the prospect we’d get with our pick this year

- jdfitz77

Only on pace for 20 goals and 100 points. Definitely don't need someone to dish the puck to Skinner.

I’m hoping it’s Krebs and Tuch for Risto.
- Pegullaville

That’s a bit better
I’m not a fan of Krebs though,
So i hope we’d flip him for someone else if we acquire him
Idk that would happen though

William Karlsson would be a perfect 2C
But i doubt they’d move him

Krebs only fell because of his injury. I had him in the consideration for 7 but then Cozens fell into our lap so it worked out. Also had Newhook in the 7-10 range and he is absolutely burning the NCAA right now. Colorado getting him at 16 was larceny.

Bonino makes too much sense.

I'm guessing this is the tdl move or draft day trade.

- Boss34

I’d like Bonino a lot
Not sure why the Preds would move him though?

Being drafted 1 year earlier doesn’t mean he develops quicker
Krebs dropped for a reason
Our 1st round pick this year will immediately jump ahead of Krebs in any rankings of drafted players not in the NHL
This is a very good draft

Perhaps they don't want to pay that much for a 3C and they could use a young dman to replace the 3 UFA dmen who will be 38, 33 and 32 later this year.

I like both sides of this convo.

I’d move Risto for Krebs 1 for 1 if that’s what it took.

I would not move our first rounder this year though for Krebs.

Newhook > Krebs... easily
Krebs is overrated. I don’t think he’ll be a top6 Center in the NHL

Who would u rather have...
Krebs, or a top10 pick this year?

It’s not even close imo

The 1st this year should be almost untouchable
Only way we should even consider moving it would be for a really good, still young,
NHL established player

Maybe
I think they’d do whatever they could to get rid of Turris instead though (no way do i want him- yuck)

everything I hear is build through the pipeline and tinker with a few trades

yet we are giving away picks for frolik, sheary, vesey, miller, etc, etc, etc

Well who was there to fill those spots, Frolic was a waste, but and I could see Miller, but doubt he thought Joker would fall into his lap.

he was drafted as a generational center

that's really not saying much
it's year 5 and he should have clipped the 100 point mark by the end of this season

and if he gets dinged up for 3 or 4 games, he may not hit the mark

he is on pace for 104 points, not a lock with this team

I did add top 8 protected.

From The Hockey Writers Jan '19:
"Peyton Krebs is another player on this list that I think could very easily shoot up the rankings. He’s a well-rounded prospect that brings an offensive flair to his game and is known as a leader. He’s a great playmaker and skater. A big selling point in Krebs’ game is his defensive skill. There aren’t many players that age that are as sound in his own zone as he is. A potential first-line centreman."

Also, Krebs outperformed Newhook at the WJC-18 and WJC-17. Hard to compare NCAA players vs. WHL players.

Matej Pekar just scored twice in a span of 25 seconds to give Sudbury an early 2-0 lead at Niagara. Goals 23 and 24 for Pekar.

Trading away mid round picks (that generally don’t turn out to be much) for established NHL players to *hopefully* help NOW until guys drafted in the top2 rounds develop makes perfect sense when you’re trying to get better now,
but still wanna build through the draft with your top end talent that you’re picking

You can do both
