Not even speaking about the rest of this post, but as to the bolded:
WASH: Ovi, Backstrom, Kuznetsov
TAMPA: Stamkos, Point, Kucherov
BOS: Bergeron, Pasternak, Marchand (ooh, it hurts to type that)

Nylander is not superior to any of these players and therefore would be at least the fourth best forward on any of those teams. And that is just off the top of my head.

- Tonybere

Nylander is way better than Kuznetsov, he's probably better than Point and likely better than Stamkos today (not at his peak obviously). Boston you're probably right. So two teams in the NHL. That's not too bad.

Not refuting that. But, he is not currently a team-driving Superstar, either.
I haven't watched as much of the Leafs as usual in the last 3-4 weeks, but the NYR game, in particular, he was invisible. Last year in the playoffs, he played scared. Always curled back with the puck and wouldn't go near the tough areas.
I'm not saying that analysis still describes him fully, but he is not a superstar.

- Tonybere

This player who doesn't go to the tough areas currently leads the NHL in net-front goals. He's also near the top of the league in on-ice shot-attempts, shots, scoring chances, dangerous scoring chances, goals and expected goals percentage.

On pace for 40 goals and roughly 80 points. Nylander also one of the best in the NHL at controlled zone entries and driving play.

He's a legit superstar.

funny, how many years now have you been calling the Leafs the best team in hockey?

I said it years ago and I'll say it again, the Jets will be the next Canadian Franchise team to bring the Cup north of the border. NOT this year ( but no Canadian team will )

book it,

edit, my confidence was lowered a bit today with Maurice extension

Not really, I'm just ignoring facts that don't fit my pre conceived ideas, so it's not worth even talking to you. I'll just go on being wrong, and you won't be effected either way.

I've always gone out of my way to respectfully disagree with you. Then you call me an idiot when I dare to disagree with your hilariously outlandish claims. There really is no point

Excuse me? You can’t be serious. Nylander is having a good season and is a good player, he isn’t better than any of those players. Even you can’t believe what you just said.

Some of these "stats" you base your opinion on are questionable, to say the least.
I looked harder than I care to admit and couldn't come up with a singe website that would tell me what "net-front goals" refers to or who has the most.
So, I doubt your intell.

"On-ice shot attempts." Would that be as opposed to off-ice shot attempts? WTF?
Just dumb.

"Expected goals percentage." I expect that 100% of the goals you score is what you should be expected to get.
Just really dumb.

This guy who doesn't go to the tough areas currently, definitely didn't in the playoffs when you have to fight for every inch of ice. So, until I SEE differently, yeah, he plays scared when it matters.

Despite how annoying you phrased it, I will address this.

The idea that St Louis is this great team is ridiculous. They were the last place team in the NHL and they got insane goaltending from a random dude, and won the Cup.

This year they have 2 more wins than the Leafs, but the Leafs have been without one player for virtually every game, sometimes as many as four.

The Leafs also have had to change coaches, and are playing at a pace that would put them second overall last season since they hired their new coach.

As Boston, they have one good line and are getting the best save % in the NHL.

None of these teams have as many first line players as the Leafs, and on none of these teams is Nylander the fourth best forward.

The Leafs also have three top pairing defenseman, which is more than most of these teams have.

To sum up:
The Leafs are the 4th best team in the NHL since Keefe took over, despite all the injuries, and have the most elite players and the deepest roster.

They also have Matthews/Tavares down the middle, something no team can match.

The Leafs really are the NHL's best team.

If you put Nylander ahead of ANY of Bergeron, Marchand or Pastrnak....you are so far gone Jimmy, there is no way back!!!!

"on-ice" means all the stats that happen while that player is on the ice, not just him individually.

We do use stats. Just appropriately. Unlike you who cherry picks some rather obtuse stats in the past to make a sweeping statement.

Nylander is a very good player but you are overselling him. Same with the Leafs. Very good team but hasn’t been consistent over any period of time to prove they can do damage when needed.

You used to talk about confirmation bias a lot. You seem to be the biggest victim of that circumstance these days.

After winning the Cup I bet the Caps thought "just imagine if we had that playoff stud Nylander instead of that overrated slug Kuznetsov."

I knew this blog was coming. Tanner you are a troll! The leafs almost lost last night. Coyotes were on the second night of a back to back. with Hill in net! He's the AHL goaltender. You make excuses about why the Leafs were playing so bad. I can't wait to watch the Greatest team in the NHL miss the playoffs this year!

James, Who is the third liner Hall is playing with? Garland? Because Garland has 5 more goals than Hall. Do you know anything about Hockey? Who should Hall be playing with? Let me guess Hayton. His 1 Goal in 14 games proves the Yotes should rush him up, after a bad injury. And lead the Yotes to the Playoffs? Idiot!

The Leafs are the best team. Next to the Oilers that is!

Chayka is the best GM, OEL the best defenseman and on and on and on.

Cup winner is random. It's mostly based on luck. Best team is the President's trophy winner. Caps would've been a dynasty if it weren't for MAF's goal stick.

Any third liner can easily be replaced. After the top line all other players are garbage. Unless their CORSI is comparable to Gormley, Runblad or Franson.

Don't forget, Gardiner is an elite NHL defenseman.
