by the way,

anyone else clearly see how disappointed 55 is with Maurice extension?

that's how I read it anyway,

I don't put much stock into any of the comments that were complimentary because its their boss and he's going to see it, but 55 looked down right upset.

- Ross77

I think Scheif is a bit under the weather right now so he wasn't elaborating on any of his answers. Josh Morrissey was probably a better interview to listen to / watch.

Looks a bit awkward. Doesn't even bother to look up. Is there a strained relationship or ruffled feathers?
- CharlieDog

no way of knowing for sure but this coupled with his similar comments about Maurice at his end of season presser last year does raise eyebrows?

also, a new agent???? cant remember if it was someone in here or on twitter who asked but a new agent now? hope its not to pressure a trade out of town????

like I said though, I would never be absolutely honest if someone asked me about my boss knowing full well he would see it and still be my boss.

I think Shief's and Copp's were the most telling interviews. sheifs end of season was also polar opposite of Wheelers

We allowed 5th most shots on net last year with all so called defenceman we miss so much!!
Why is this point missed by so many?
All that changed this year were the names in D not the results!!
This whole D excuse this year holds no water!!! The results have been the same for two years.

Very much agree, the defense core issue has been overblown this season.

The coaching staff runs ineffective systems that will never work.

But you would go fishing with Buf, wouldn't you? I would....even tho I am a bit miffed at him.

God no, I hate fishing! Mind you a couple of Bud Lights might change my mind!

Looks like his agent used to be Newport but now is Octagon? Am I correct?

You have to wonder if he is a little upset with his contract now, making less than some of the other top liners? But it was signed in good faith by both sides so shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe, like you said before, Paul has asked Schief to get his butt back faster? I wouldn't be opposed to that.

I believe you are correct. Scheifle looked exactly the same in the exit media interview as he did now with the PoMo comments.

I was making a joke at wesley's happy post. So relax Jetsnation

But since you asked Leafs 26th GAA, Preds 25th, Panthers 29th, Sharks 28th see a pattern?
As for the Hurricanes they are on pace for 1 point less than they had last year.

this is the same system that worked well just 2 years ago. (107pts?)

Something I like about the man/zone they run is that almost all shots are contested and lower the quality of the shot.

Scheifle has a relatively flat demeanor in most interviews, can't read a lot into those.

His choice of words is at least interesting;

Good for “him”
“He’s “ been here a long time.

Nothing about good for us, me, organization

Am I grasping, absolutely possible. But I don’t see a happy player

You might be right but we won't find out anytime soon.

On another note Bogosian was waived, does anyone see a fit? I think if they are comfortable with his character that I would take a chance on the injury history as he only has to stay healthy for about 3 months. He will be motivated.

Go back and read Jetsnation question there is nothing about coaching in it.

But if you are asking, trade Hellebuyck for one of the mentioned teams goaltender and then tell me where you think Maurice's great coaching job would have the Jets right now. Maybe ahead of LA only and who besides Jetsnation would be saying an extension would be a great idea.

Good observations Ross!

The entire Jets coaching staff should have been let go this off-season. Even with Byfuglien, Myers, Trouba and Chariot, this team has been in the bottom 10 for penalty kill every year except one.

I dare Maurice to make a bold move. By bold move I mean playing Ehlers on the top power play and putting Wheeler on the second one.

Your asking thorough bread horses to run like Mules. This will only work for so long and that is what Maurice is asking from his high end forwards.

Scheifele's play since last January should say plenty. He has been overplayed and overused and I think he's tired of it. #55 checked out a long time ago!

Look the Jets just had to wait 2 days and they could have signed Boudereau or is he also a worse coach than Maurice?

Bogosian waived...I remember the days when some people on this board were calling him the next Chris Pronger.

I hope you are right, but compared to the all star interviews and this one and the exit interview, the all star interviews were enthusiastic. The Maurice extension interview and exit interview were polar opposite. Who knows.

They were more aggressive 2 years ago. They also had the best defensive years out of Enstrom, Byfuglien, and Trouba. Now they have none of those 3 at all, let alone in career years defensively.

I’ve also heard rumblings the organization is no longer happy with Adam Oates influence on Shief and actually now sees it as a problem
