Unfortunately, that miscommunication was the game. Islanders lack shooters. Too many passers. Can't get shut out for two straight games.

Even Butchie mentioned the problems with the offense.

Hopefully Nelson is not going back to his old ways since he's been paid now.
- ses111

It just seems like he's losing puck battles more than usual. Not skating hard enough.

It’s not that. He’s just really inconsistent.

Somebody tells these guys they need to shoot the puck, right? I’m just making sure. It’s just mind numbing to me that 6 of their shots were in the last 3 minutes. Where’s that the whole game?

I would not discount anything with Nelson. It's in these players DNA to pass first, 2nd, and 3rd.

Sadly we've seen this with Nelson and others.

They were in their zone way too much tonight. Can’t score or generate offense that way. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lou goes and gets a d man. Dobson’s not cutting it as far as minutes and the others are starting to get worn out imho.
Of course we need help offensively but we were in our zone way too much.

I'm not saying he is the answer but maybe Aho can at least help skate the puck out of the zone. Might be worth giving him a game? When you get shutout two straight it's time to try something else.

Trots mentioned passengers again, stating this is PO hockey and guys need to play with PO hockey mentality.
Boys need to step up their game, because every team is desperate here looking for points to get into the POs and there aren’t going to be any easy games from here on out.

We really should be beyond passengers this often with Lou and Barry running the show. This team somehow needs a serious shakeup. No idea what this is but they need something. The players have to decide do they want in or out. The players are playing like fat cats that cannot be touched.

I mean I’m not an Aho fan just don’t think he has the size and physically for me Ses.
Also you have to think Barry would put him in if he thought it was a better option than Dobson who’s only playing ~ 10 minutes a game, which is starting to take its toll on the dmen who are playing 20 plus minutes every other night imo.
That said he may just throw him in there to mix things up a bit. Who knows?

For me me it’s about desire and wanting it. It’s hard to do for 82 games but those teams that do have more success than the ones that don’t obviously.
I’m thinking there will be a shakeup to the lineup soon.

I honestly have no idea on Aho except he can skate but it's probably worth it just to mix things up and it's the perfect time after going scoreless again and to give someone a breather.

It's just concerning we've heard Barry mention passengers more than a few times. After the success of last year it should not be happening this often. I still feel these players are too comfortable and sitting only bottom 6 players will not get the attention of the top 6.

Agree Ses.
I think the passengers mentioned were the top 6 tonight with the exception of Barzal. As far as Barry saying it typically the team responds and honestly we used to hear that nightly from Cappy and Doug so for me Trotz hasn’t said it too much.
I thought Leddy and Pulock looked fatigued or a step slow tonight at times. Again they are playing a lot of minutes and I think it’s starting to catch up to them.

19 shots on goal. Yippee

I love the way they pass around the perimeter. No team is better at avoiding taking shots on net then this one.

Well Varlamov had a good game so that’s a positive. Hopefully he can go on a little run here.

Edit: looks like Aho may get a spin in the next game against the Yotes.

@AGrossNewsday
Trotz says it’s time to give Sebastian Aho an opportunity. Obviously for Dobson.

Said it last night Schwein, I wouldn’t be surprised if Lou goes and gets a dman because for me Dobson’s 10 minutes per game isn’t cutting it.

I like it. Greene’s a stand up guy still can play and was The Devils Captain.

He’s definitely a Trotz style defender.

I don’t like how much Lou paid to get him, but I’d bet he thrives in this system.

Guy plays 20 minutes a night and can still play. The Islanders need help in the D zone. Pelech’s injury has taken its toll on the d as Dobson just isn’t cutting it.

You want second rounders or do you want to make the POs this year?
