Thomas Townsend: Would Turris look good in Union Blue?

Agreed about the upcoming games, the cbj have a chance to shape their destiny going into the trade deadline. And the Seth Jones injury will push this roster on the brink, that's almost 9 regulars out with Cam at the moment ....

Yes. Yes he would. You guys can have Johansen back also.

You know what . . . you can keep Turris, but I will take Johansen back, $8MM cap hit and all. I like RyJo's skillset and upside much better than Turris. Just have to agree on the details.
Also have to get Torts' buy-in on this move. I recall a little friction between them in the short time they were Jackets together.

Let Nashville deal w/there bad contracts, if anything you can always find more affordable players imo

I think Turris is the better bet- he just needs more opportunity, minutes (see Phoenix to Ottawa move for him). He's not getting that in Nashville. He's a little overpaid, but I think he's still a top six centre

Man the CBJ March schedule is BRUTAL. Need every point against teams like NJD, OTT, NYR this month

No to both. Turris could be good somewhere, but there are no guarantees, and he's been awful some the trade.

If you didn't know, RJ and a bunch of top Nashville guys got benched last night because of lack of effort. RJ has not lived up to his contract or potential IMO and he is way overpriced for what he's doing on the ice. If Nashville pays 70% of the remainder of his contract it might be worth looking into, but that's not going to happen.

100% correct, and that's why no trade is better than desperate gamble for offense
Esp with Jones hurt playoff chances are very low.

Zero desire to have Ryan Johansen on this CBJ team. Turris? Maybe. Not too excited about it, though.

If Nashville would hold half his salary, we could send them Wennberg, or Sonny with a 2020 3rd. I'd be thrilled.

Get Poile to compensate the Jackets to take Turris.

Use Wennberg as a piece to a bigger trade (i.e. young top-6 forward). It's too much to pay for Turris. Also, Turris doesn't bring anything to the Jackets.
I don't think it's to our advantage to get into another Foligno/Dubinsky situation where we're in a $6MM cap hit for an old, slow player with decreasing skills. Turris will be
31 y.o. before next season, and has 4 more years on the contract.
Nashville wants to dump that salary - we need at least a 2nd rnd pick, maybe leverage a 1st.

turris for wennberg+ seems rather lateral if you ask me ....not a deal that gets things accomplished.

I am for getting Turris but at the price of giving up next to nothing, right now we are bleeding players to injury....

I'm a strong NO on Turris; and I think you'd regret carrying that cap hit for 4 more years !!
I know RyJo might be a slight head-case, and need occaisionally need a motivational jab in the ribs . . . or kick in the butt, but I'd rather have his $8MM hit, skill-set and upside, than Turris.
And Poile might be happy to get rid of that salary . . . maybe even add some incentive for us. He's paying each of his top 2 centers $8MM per !!
But Nashville is still on the fringe of a playoff push, so all of this may not happen until this summer.

here's the problem with RyJo, not sure he and Torts would get along , just like trading for Joe Thornton wouldn't work either because he alienated him in the past. He didn't commit to playing defense with Laviolette, not sure he would a second time around with Torts.

Oh . . . I agree with you on that. Residual friction may remain between Torts & RyJo. It's possible that RyJo is perfectly satisfied taking his $8MM annually and playing as he pleases. Evidently Laviolette, and now Deboer, have trouble convincing him to play a 200 ft, 2-way game. That would be a big caveat with the deal.
RyJo has to realize he's not bigger than the team.

Probably also instant synergy with Foligno, I simply have a hard time imagining Jarmo revisiting RyJo.

I have other targets;

-Athanasiou
-Turris
-Getzlaf (long shot)
-Stepan (Torts had him in ny and Chyka is quickly loosing faith in his team)
-Coleman

Sorry - thought Deboer went to Nashville. Too lazy to do the homework.
I don't believe a knee-jerk reaction at the TDL to add players for "maybe" a playoff spot is worth it, as we currently don't have a sustainable offense.
My preference is to be a seller - gaining draft picks, with 2nd tier prospects and/or 3rd/4th line type players (e.g. Nash; Harrington)
There are no game-changers available now - and someone will overpay for the players that are available.

Unless a fantastic opportunity is brought to him at the TDL, Jarmo should just wait for the summer/draft to make a big deal or two.
FWIW - although we hear about all the teams looking for defense, I haven't heard any team looking at our D men. The only Jacket I've seen as potential trade material is Anderson.
