Looks like the Jackets will be in the market for a d-man after losing Seth Jones for an extended period of time.

Gustafsson for Gerbe????

How come nobody has mentioned the 'new look' PK ? All 4 were bunched AWFULLY tight. On Winnipeg 3rd goal, Gus was guarding #9 Cobb, then followed him when he moved away from the net, and instead of moving back closer to Crawford, Gus starts puck watching, Cobb slips past him, and GOAL !! The reason I mention this is because there is something with Colliton defensive structure that causes defensemen to get out of position over and over again. They are supposed to stay with their man. But this causes confusion as to WHO is supposed to guard WHO ?? And another thing. After Dcat TWO IN A ROW complete giveaways, Kane refused to pass again to him when he had the chance. This was very noticeable to me and I was thinking that Kane thought, I aint doing that no more, all Dcat does is cough up the puck.

How about ??
Penguins receive Brandon Saad, and Blackhawks receive Galchenyuk, 1st rounder, and Dman prospect Calen Addison. Would people be happy ?? Wonder if Bowman and Penguins had talked about a trade similar to this ? Well, Bowman looks like he is not trading Saad, at least while Hawks have slight chance for Wild card spot. Still 2 weeks to go, more NHL trades are on the way.

I would absolutely give up a 3rd for Kovalchuk.....

I would also sign Byfuglien which would cost no assets.

I would also make a push for Joe Thornton depending on what San Jose wants in return....

- Savard2Secord

I like your thoughts...let's get them and roll through the playoffs

Great review Tyler, your on point. Chicago's Power play is atrocious, whomever is running Chicago's Power play should ve fired.

Couple of other observations , cat and strome have been mia most of the season regarding scoring and just sheer energy and creating chances.

Seekers looked pretty good for having only 1 game to examine him.

Gus should be packaged up for either a high draft pick and prospect or teams like Toronto who are looking for a LHD would be ideal trade partners for Chicago, kap and Johnsson are available .

If Chicago ends up trading a goalie , in hope it's Crawford. Lehner is younger , healthy and his numbers are better. Crawford while he has recently played well the elephant in the room is his age and his 2 concussions and he wants to be the starter

- Taylorst1

Throw the puck to the front of the net. I could do it. You could do it. We could possibly, possibly do it. And that's how we create havoc around the scoring area. Watch boston. Best team in the league

Might as well get Brower while we are at it.
- Angotti

Brower and Dustin Byfuglien back for the remainder of the season. Kinda like and an extended "One Last Shift". I like it.

The real standings

_____________ GP PTS PTS/G
Blues_________56 73 1.304 1st Cen
Av's__________54 70 1.296 2nd Cen
Stars_________ 55 67 1.218 3rd Cen
Canucks______57 65 1.175 2nd Pac
Oilers________ 55 64 1.164 1st Pac
Knights_______57 64 1.123 3rd PAC
Flames_______57 64 1.123 WC
Jets __________57 63 1.105 WC
Yotes________ 58 63 1.086
Preds________ 55 59 1.073
Hawks_______ 55 58 1.055
Wild _________55 58 1.055
Ducks________56 53 0.946
Sharks________56 52 0.929
Kings_________57 43 0.754

Based on these results you will need a minimum of 1.105 pts per game. So 82 games x 1.105 = 91 pts. Based on that the Hawks have 27 games left and have to get 33 points. So 15W- 9L – 3OTL. They have to win or tie in regulation 18 of the of their last 27 games.

Ok Stan. Sell wisely.

Speaking of hockey - The Beanpot final between Boston U. and Northeastern has been very good game. BU took a 2-0 lead after the 1st. NU came back with 4 unanswered in the 2nd and now BU ties it up 4-4 with 1.2 seconds left. Starting OT now.

All 3 Hawks prospects have looked pretty good. Ryan Shea has a couple assists and is bigger and a better skater than I thought and he plays big minutes in all situations. Jake Wise has been very noticeable with a goal and assist including the assist on the goal to send it to OT. Alex Vlassic has played pretty well too.

It's a shame I feel the need to give this disclaimer, but here it is - Disclaimer: I'm not a habitual Stan basher.

That said, we have a tale of two GM's (actually 2 organizations, at least in Stan's case). We have the Wild and Hawks in a virtual tie - 55 games played with 58 points with both being 5 points out of the final wildcard spot. Their goals-for and goals-against numbers are virtually the same as well so there's no real reason to suggest one team has (1) a better chance to make the playoffs, and (2) a better chance to do anything once they get there.

The major difference in the two teams is one team faces that reality by proactively making the best of the situation by making a trade to improve their future while the other team doesn't. Now, maybe Stan pulls off a trade or two and this assessment proves to be untrue - but as of right now it looks like the management in Minnesota is superior to the management in Chicago.

Players to trade are apples and oranges between the two teams, takes two to tango as has been said before.

Truth. Flashes elite from time to time but never has been all the way.

Would trend elite and then fall down the stairs or something and miss a month.
