8 X 8 for Lehner should result in Stan being terminated immediately. - Ogilthorpe2

He has a .898 sv% and 3.28 GA currently
7 Yrs at 10m/yr cap hit at the age of 30
they're all nuts !
Maybe he rebounds and plays well thru most of it, then again, perhaps not - BobP.
tallon gave an absolutely undeserved assine contract to a guy who has done nothing but make the occasional highlight real save...
yet he may have one of those all world years and carry this team to a cup and i suspect that's all tallon is looking for...

Failing to trade one of the two goalies would be a typical Blackhawks fail. Keeping one of these two gives you basically the same shot to make the playoffs. This team is not going to win the cup. The coach is too green and the team doesn't have the makeup.
Now I'll wait for someone to bring up the Blues as if the Blues are somehow comparable. People forget the Blues were favored to win the division and were underachieving. The Blackhawks are playing about as well as anyone could have expected. This is not the same. |

Good point, yes, I was counting Kubalik (about 4m) and Caggiula (Caligula) being retained, Smith bought out and Magic Gus off to greener pastures. Maatta will have to stay because he might be needed due to LTIR dmen (and might be needed because some Dmen have to be exposed in expansion draft). I think that means 3 of 5 retained, unless something else big happens:
Saad
Debrincat
Strome
Lehner
Crawford
Pick 3 to keep. - totem
Kubalik has gone cold since the break, not playing like $4M now. Playing closer to Perlini last year. |

On the other players you mentioned, I also have Kubalik and Caggiula penciled in for next season's roster with Smith either bought out or buried (I believe that's an option) and Gustafsson traded for a mid-range draft pick or prospect.
I'm not down on Maatta as others but do agree with Elbows (?) comment that he's really not that bad when the Hawks blueline is comprised of swift skaters. If a slam dunk trade comes along to ship him out, then fine; otherwise, I like what he brings to the ice on the whole. - AEL_Fox
They need to move like tomorrow to get that for Gus.

If Magic Gus gets a 4th or higher, trade him, otherwise keep him. Might just need healthy guys on the D due to injuries.
Strange to say but if no one goes at the deadline it will be weird but OK I think. Would like taking on expiring contract for something, but might not happen.

Most definitely agree. Hindsight is 20/20 but the best time to have traded him was at last year's TDL when his value was likely the highest it would have been. A summer trade would have been fine, too. |

Now that Ty’s made a reasonable and logical pitch for both Lehner and Crawford to stay until the end of the season I fully expect one, if not both, of the goalies to be dealt this weekend. - DarthKane

I like Lehner but agree if that ends up being the deal, can’t do it. Others need new ink too...wouldn’t mind Crow coming back for a year or two on a short team friendly deal. |

Maatta is another buy out candidate. He is just so slow. If the rest of the Hawks d was more mobile, Maatta would be fine. They aren't. Its not the player. He gives his all. He is just a bad fit for the Hawks' D as it is currently constructed. - Elbows15
That's very well put. Classy even. Not the usual negative dart being chucked. |

That would make more sense. What happens to Wolves when Knights take all their players and where do San Antonio players go? - rpeters01
Maybe writz buys out rockford and the wolves become blackhawks ahl team. That would make more sense if the wolves were the hawks ahl team affiliate. Plus the wolves have a tv deal more exposure for the hawks young players. |

Could happen but I doubt it. I would think they want to keep the kids away and use the big city as bait. When the Hawks farm team moved from St. Louis to Dallas due to the Blues coming into the league the players loved it. Nice weather, golf most of the year, a lot of the players didn't care or preferred to stay in Dallas. So then the hawks moved the team to Moncton and there was a lot more competition all of a sudden.
As far as a working relationship between the hawks and wolves, I just don't see it. When the hawks sucked before the run there were a lot of shots taken by the wolves at the hawks. In particular, I remember seeing a sign on the tollway by the wolves saying come see some real professional hockey... and don't think for a second hawks management didn't know about it or will forget about it. |

A million years ago the White Sox had Hawaii as their triple A team for one year said never again. Couldn't get any vets to come to the majors. |

Well, it is when partisans push a key witness - Lt. Col. Vindman and his twin brother - out of their White House NSC positions.
He returns to the Pentagon to be reassigned.
Didn’t take long for the first retaliation to take place, did it? - StLBravesFan
It's better than reality tv. Government should be called Barnum and Bailey

It's not the goalies fault. Cubs can't afford Bryant because Theo hasn't developed one starting pitcher in 8 years it's hard to be that inept even on purpose. - rpeters01
Basically they drafted position players as much as possible, he said himself after we won a world series his game plan was to sign pitchers draft position players because their math said the odds of drafting a stud pitcher were much much greater.
He said injuries are the worst for that position. He's not wrong, besides Theo accomplished what was thought to be impossible. |

Yes but that was with the first wave should have had 3-4 bonefide starters by now.

You keep saying this yet he was on the FA market last year and no one touched him. The best he could do was a 1 year deal. We'll see but if I'm Stan i trade him and quietly sit back during the FA market and scoop him up on the cheap again |

I'm not the guy saying 8x8...For all the Dinky lovers he's at $8 the third year of his deal. You're saying Dinkys worth more than Lehner. NFW! |

First wave? If his math is correct why would he change his approach. Bullpen was decimated last year only reason they didn't make the playoffs, at least we ain't the Astros |

Theo also totally mismanaged his funds with the POOR additions of Hayward, Chatwood, Morrow, Darvish etc. If I'm Tom Ricketts I cut him off too !!! |

Carl Crawford in Boston. Theo not very good at FA's. There was a line to sign Heyward nobody saw this coming. At the end of the day right now St. Louis is loaded with 100mph arms. |
