Haha. No. No. No.

The PP runs through Kane as it should. The issue is the damn drop back enter which leaves 3 of the remaining 4 guys flat footed trying to enter the zone. That’s the problem. Kane has to dance through 1-2 guys circle back and set it up.

The hawks also have a very limited amount of above average offensive d men on the point.

I don’t understand how many damn times we are going to watch 56 misplay a 2 on 1 before something is done but it’s beyond old. He may be the worst defensemen I have ever seen. Ever. He’s pure dog poop.

- SteveRain

If nothing else, his on ice decision making ranks him the dumbest in the league

Meanwhile the Jets lose 4 defenceman off their roster from last year and find a way to keep winning with AHL types.

Winnipeg is not a great team, but they have quite a few players who can enter the zone with the puck AND with speed. Who do we have who can do that ? Toews, Kane. I think it stops there. Dcat loses the puck as soon as he takes a few strides. Saad is more of a Al Secord type, they score and can do everything but carry the puck well and stickhandle. Strome dont have top speed. Cagg ? Decent player but not offensively gifted. Kubalik is pretty good. 4th line guys like Highmore and Kampf are not goal scorers and cannot hang on to the puck very long. Dach rarely finds any open ice. Yes its just a bubble team at best.

The entries don’t explain why, when they do get set up, that nobody moves their feet. Just play pass around the perimeter until they get it to Kane and then wait.

Nobody has the stones to try and make a play that doesn’t go through Kane.

They don’t even pass with any urgency. Just pass and look. Then pass and look. Then pass to Kane and wait.

Bench him. Honestly, how much worse could the PP get without him?

Give me 20 77 8 and see what they can do. It honestly couldn’t be any worse.

For those that think if the Hawks have Crow and Lankenin/Delia and expect them to be a playoff team next year, tonight was exhibit A as to that fallacy. Arguably the biggest game of the year, Crow needs to make those saves. He did it in previous years, no question, but his numbers the last couple ( especially penalty kill save percentage ) of years haven’t been there. It’s Crow and we love him, but Ward gave us the same last year. Play well and then let in that saveable puck.

I am not blaming Crow for this loss, but if you are going to tear it down, or try to make one last run with this core, the only way Crow fits is as a low cost back-up. Be interesting to see if he accepts that reality come TDL or the offseason.

This is another Colliton loss !! A team that plays only 20 minutes a game of intense hockey will lose close games. Way too soft again with the lead......Colliton's M.O.

I've had it with another failed playoff run by this genius coach with zero experience. He's had almost 2 full years to get this team in gear now and yet they scramble again, no better than last year.

This team made huge improvements in the off season in goaltending, defensemen, 3rd and 4th line free agents, and the PK. Also rookies Dach, Boqvist, and Kubalik. Where's the problem ?
This team should be at least 10pts better than they are.
What's the plan for next year Blackhawks because Colliton is failing miserably.

- Hawkytalk

How do you figure 10 points better? They have a very bad, slow and aging d.

2 is maybe 50-60% of what he was. It happens. He’s been used way too much and he’s wearing down faster.

56 is not a nhl d man on a playoff team. He’s hockey stupid.

5 has improved.

27 is young

The rest....does it matter?

Power plays don’t win championships, penalty killing does and the hawks PK has improved immeasurably this season. The hawks need to get Gus off the powerplay, the shorthanded goal killed them tonight and while the ADB giveaway was the main reason for the goal, this was about the fifth time I’ve seen Gus not take the cross ice pass away and in each case he falls to the ice compounding his mistake by taking himself right out of the play.
- paulr

Gus just lays flat. Seabrook is the best at it because when he goes to the ice he closes the space on the player with the puck. He takes away the space to make that saucer pass. Conner did a nice job of batting that puck out of the air.

Hawks won 3 cups without a good PP. PK was more than good during those runs.

Happy to see the PK make a massive jump this year again, but the Cat has been an issue all season on the PP. Just not getting it done. That shorty is on him alone. How many times has he missed one timers this sesson as well? Contractitus.

- ItHossaGood

The PP was never this bad. No excuse to not be at least in the top 2/3 of the league, and to not be a liability.

The only D-man over 30 is Keith. All the rest are closer to 25 than 30. Slow is the problem.

No. You aren’t benching or taking your best pure offensive F off the pp. that’s insane.

19 needs to stand in the soft spot in the slot or 12 or 8. Somebody who can finish. Below the fs and in between the d men.

Their mantra on the pp has been this way for years. They have talent to be a good pp. just like they corrected the pk.

IMO they need to hire a pp whiz. The next Adam Oates. Implement a new approach.

Gus has a hard slapshot and it impresses the hell out of Stanbo and JC.

Gus, Dinky & Strome need to join Nylander with a seat in the press box. None of them are playing competitive hockey.

He’s horrible. There is no reason why he’s routinely out there. People can female dog about marginal 4th line players all day. All of them combined haven’t given up the moronic goals 56 has. Not even close.

I agree except you lost me at Gusto could play defense for 15 non playoff teams. I bet he ends up back in Sweden next year.

You must not be paying attention. No one wants Gus on the team. Every poster here has been trying to trade him since last season.

For some reason, it isn't working.

The insane thing is doing the same thing over and over agin and expecting different results.

Again, what would they have to lose? Bottom 5 in the league with Kane.

Seabrook? Dehaan?

Their d is awful. Without these goalies you could 1996 Scotty Bowman coach this team and it wouldn’t matter.

I didn’t say they have to sign Lehner either. I am all for blowing it up. Blake waited too long to do it with the Kong’s and that team is still in worse shape then the Hawks for the next few years.

You have this ALL........CORRECT.

Curiosity killed the cat....and satisfaction brought it back life

In that vein, the Pp is practicly dead SO I would love to hear what Toews offers up about the structure and success rate of the Pp this season and actually all those years under Q"s reign. He won't come out and directly lay blame on......but after the season is over...might he be a tad more forthcoming......he is a proud warrior and I am sure he realized from his and team point - of - view that they should score more goals, gain more points if the Pp was not so one dimensional.
