So he will live or die as a dman. Perhaps worse skater when he resumes playing. We shall see how his game is better or worse. Buff was best used as a second or third pair. Really should be a third pair. Often played more than he should given his ability and steadiness of performance. He had problems knocking down pucks at blueline on pp while in Chicago - never will forget that.

One of the knocks against Big Buff is his disinterest at times during the season. This was when he was young and hungry, I doubt he would be all gung-ho to grind it out during the regular season just to try and make the playoffs.

Buff became a Blackhawk legend in the 10 cup run when he was put on a line with Toews and Kane. Buff was Bickell before there was a Bickell.

I would like to remember Buff for his contributions to the Hawks first Stanley Cup in 50 years. I don't want to remember him like Ladd, Kreuger, and the other trades Bowman made to get the band back together again

Actually, that's true. Your hockey knowledge is fine, but your repeated sarcasm is NOT funny. Time for you to perhaps consider a different approach.

Or if it’s not too late in life, you could try developing a sense of humor. I enjoy the sarcasm. Keeps things light(er).

Otherwise it would be just a gaggle of guys and a few women chubbing over line combos, trade proposals, skating technique and just being angry in general.

Sorry. I have to disagree. I can take informed constructive negativity. Witty, clever sarcasm is also ok by me, especially from Darth. What I would not mind seeing less of is the mean spirited personal attacks and political sidebars.

So that's what you call it? You're right, Darth reminds me of Bill Murray, Jonathon Winters, and all the other comedic greats.

That's what this blog is, coupled with bad humor. That's why there are now about 10 posters, rather than 100+ in JJ's days. And BTW, I think TC does an excellent job since taking over here.

Versteeg never scored 21 goals.

Or 28.

Or 25, which is what AdB is likely to wind up with this season.

Agree, I hate the negativity. The only worse than that is the sarcasm of some posters.

Why is the world is NBCSN showing the Wings/Sabres on the same night that the Pen/Lightning or the Knights/Panthers are playing games that started at the same time.

Not sure if this was already shared:

Retweeted Blackhawks Talk

Per NHL officiating office, the correct call was made on last night's hand pass because the puck deflecting off Maatta's stick after being pushed by his glove does not equate to possession.

hmm...so the official who admitted he made a mistake does not know the rules..

I would say its more the team is not built to make a long playoff run and we have just lost interest. All we have left is line blender arguments, trades, and sarcasm.

I have learned not to compare individuals on this board. (Kubalik/Hossa) Because if you compare, then people think you are saying one person is the same as the other. Which actually is not the case at all.

But if you want to compare Darth to Bill Murray I would be ok with that. I would say Darth's style is more polite cuts, George Carlin-esque. lol.

My guess is Bowman waits right up to the deadline to see how the team is doing. If losing ground, I can see him moving a few guys for draft picks and not taking on any salary for next season. If we are close to playoff spot, I can see him taking on a veteran who will be a free agent at the end of this year, and using the LTIR savings to fit them under the cap. No one of huge value...but a nice plug in player of some nature. That is my guess anyway. I don't see any big deals getting done.

The one player that will be interesting is Lehner. Obviously, they are going to let Corey walk as his age is a negative. But do they re-sign Lehner, trade him at deadline if they can't re-sign him, or hold on to him in the hopes of making playoffs and signing him at end of season? That is the tough decision right now.

I do not think it is obvious that they let Crow walk. If Lehner signs elsewhere and Crow finishes this year strong and will accept a one year deal at reasonable price he could be back next year as the #1 goalie with either another veteran or with Lankinen/Delia backing him up.

Somebody recently said maybe they don't announce Lehner extension until end of season or at least after they are out of it due to Crow that made a lot of sense not only for Crow but if they are pushing for or in the playoffs.

The history of goalies moved at the trade deadline.

Think you guys and gals will like this one.

I said it the day Lehner was signed....

Bowman bought a number one draft pick for $5 million dollars....

Although he is playing great hockey, you have to move him if he stays unsigned.....

# 1 + prospect vs possibly letting him walk for nothing.......

You have to consider all to make the team better and both goalies are great assets...

If he signs, see what value CC has on the market....

Anything would be better than letting either walk for nothing....

This franchise has to be thinking 2-3 years ahead.....

there nothing obvious about what stanbow will do as the TDL approaches...

he may pull the great unexpected and keep both and work with their UFA status after the season...

the only obvious thing about this is one or both will not be here next year..

Think he was a casualty of being rushed way too soon. Doubt he'll ever be a bust. Just would PREFER to see an experienced winger up here in this potential chase. Maybe I'm way off base, but right now, can't quite yet see him as a genuine asset. If they want to do right by the kid, let him marinate a bit.
- gabriel

He did play 2 seasons in the AHL...

High skill level not a lot of sense of what to do off the puck. Too much standing and poor on the boards. Doesn't play a good North - South game as well.

Tough to see the upside at this point.
