Ok, but what about the point they made about even hitting the stick, it does not constitute possession. The rule doesn't say anything about that. Is that just something they made up, because if it hit the stick (and they are admitting it) then there is no hand pass. The whole thing still stinks.

I’m much more concerned about not being able to generate any attack on the following PP, or much of any offense all game, or more than 22 SOG, or more than half as many scoring chances as Boston....

But...that’s just me....

Anyone. The PP has been awful all year.

Seriously, on the wall on the opposite side of Kane, where DCat has been.

- scottak

It was terrible with the same players in their prime plus Sharp and Hossa under Q. How could it not be terrible now?

Before he is finished, he might find some life at a wing- position. His size he could hang out by the net of course there is a price to pay by doing just that. Battered and bruised, even Big Buff. If he tries to just be a scorer and not work hard by using his girth in board work, then he will be about as successful as he once was as a forward - and that is the bright side outlook. It is going to be a tough road to plow. Maybe he will dig deep and be a full time physical presence only after he fails trying to rush the puck as a dman and thinking he can coast a bit just trying to get passes or in position to shoot as a forward. He wants another big contract but how bad will he put out?
- jhawk59

He hated hanging out by the net when he was young fought Q tooth and nail wanted to play defense he's not going to play wing.

Versteeg never scored 21 goals.

Or 28.

Or 25, which is what AdB is likely to wind up with this season.

- StLBravesFan

Versteeg could skate though. We need to play with more speed.

That line of Cat-Kampf-Strome is slllooooowwwww

FWIW, ‘Charting Hockey has CC #2 in the NHL this season on shots saved above expectation. Lehner is above average as well, but CC has seen a bunch of hard chances.

Why is the world is NBCSN showing the Wings/Sabres on the same night that the Pen/Lightning or the Knights/Panthers are playing games that started at the same time.
- Elbows15

Great point. And this happens A LOT(them showing a game between 2 awful teams on a night when there’s several other games that would be much more entertaining).

It’s seriously inexcusable. Look at what the other leagues do, they adjust the games on national TV/during prime time. They make sure the best teams are always being shown. The NHL....not so much. It’s pathetic. Every night it’s the Wings, Devils, Sabers, etc.

Horrible job by the league when it comes to marketing their sport.

They are just trying to make sure every team gets national exposure. How many national tv games did the Hawks get? How about all the other teams?

So he will live or die as a dman. Perhaps worse skater when he resumes playing. We shall see how his game is better or worse. Buff was best used as a second or third pair. Really should be a third pair. Often played more than he should given his ability and steadiness of performance. He had problems knocking down pucks at blueline on pp while in Chicago - never will forget that.

Interesting to see progress of players whom were in conversation for Blackhawks draft pick had they moved down in draft. And the development of players whose dad was an NHL player.

NYI tonight K Bellows debut quite successful. But he did not have big AHL point total. Wahlstrom learning in AHL. And Dobsion has been playing this season as a member of NYI blueline crew.

And in Phoenix with OEL out injured Oesterle has assumed his big minutes last two games (24 and 23 TOI)

Making sure all teams get equal amount of national exposure and making it a priority ahead of showing the most entertaining matchup possible is DUMB. No other league does that. Does the NFL go out of their way to give the Bengals just as much National TV exposure as the Patriots?

Seriously, no wonder this league isn’t popular with the masses.

I'm not sure if it is by design, but they almost always have a pair of bottom half teams go to England.

Oh boy...come on, 2nd or 3rd pairing? 2nd pairing I could somewhat wrap my head around, but then you say “he’s more of a 3rd pairing “. I stopped reading after that. Doesn’t matter what followed after that. It’s just an obvious incorrect statement. For the last 7-8 years he’s a 1st/2nd pairing on every team in the NHL

He really is not too good defensively BUT he does intimidate.....even when carrying puck into Winnipeg end of ice, players see Buff on the side they are coming and will advance instead to other side. It has always been live with good and bad Buff brings. Although you are correct about first or second pairing, on a deep good team he is better employed on a third pairing IMHO.

Nbc coverage of the nhl is horrible and down right inexcusable. Last week hottest topic Edmonton and Calgary at 8 pm so instead of flexing to that game for 7pm on Wednesday they had nashville and some other team. Football does it a lot i m sure other leagues too. Goes back to bettman not marketing and advertising the nhl properly.

I wasn't saying that all teams get an equal amount of national exposure. The Hawks are a middle of the pack team, but have a big following. They get more nationally televised games than a lot of the better teams because of that.
Also, you can't compare the NFL to the NHL because NHL teams play just about every day for 6 months. NFL teams play 3 days a week for 17 weeks.

Plus, the NFL sucks!

Why don't you try to officiate. Really...your such a tough guy.
- just69sayin

One of the main reasons I rarely post here any longer are posters like you. Three negative comments in a row by you towards previous posts. Instead of engaging the other posters you just make a snide comment. By the way you spelled 'you're' wrong 'tough guy'...

Officiating a game in any sport is a tough job, but bad officiating continues throughout the league. Despite all of the technology available they should more often than not get a call right. Meanwhile the other penalty late in the game was similar to what Chara did in the 2nd. Yet he didn't get called while our guy does? Even an inexperienced ref should at least try to call it even.

The Jets looked really good (and physical) vs the Blues last night. The Hawks better put on their big boy pants Sunday night.

I wonder who gets the net. I am thinking Crow.

The current WC teams play Sat. Preds play at Oilers and Flames play at Canucks. Must see TV.
