Actually, if we have to give Zach Smith with retained salary, and Crow for a prospect, and a third I would have to sleep on it.

I think Stan is aiming higher (with 3 weeks left to go in the TDL) To me, if Stan does not trade either Lehner or Crow at the TDL is ok by me. we gave up a whole $5 mil. in salary for Lehner (but of course Stan haters will say it was a fail, should of signed him long term for that amount of money)

Campbell had a good season last year behind Quick. Not so much this year, he has been struggling. .90 save percentage is not that good.

Toronto gets a back up goalie, the team lost complete confidence in Hutchison, they needed someone back there with a different name on the back of the jersey. They get the tough guy that Babcock always wanted Dubas to get (Clifford). They gave up a California kid that was never going to be more than an energy player for the Leafs.

This is more a trade of desperation by Toronto. There hope is that Anderson gets better, and Campbell does nothing more than wear a baseball cap the rest of the year.

Can't wait for the knives to come out when Toronto misses the playoffs.

Take a break. You can't handle this anymore.

I think it's time to swap Highmore and Smith. Highmore brings too much energy to sit him. Other than his role on the PP, Smith has been very average. I'd argue you don't have much to lose by swapping the two.
- catrisc

What energy does he bring? He's just a filler who throws a hit once in awhile. He should be in the ahl to help players like Enstwhistle develop

If you are looking at careers there is no comparison. But if you are looking at the last two years they are comparable. This is this year.
Campbell 28 yrs old. 20 games started. 8 W, 10 L, 2 OT, .900 Save %, 2.85 GA
Crow 35 yrs old, 26 games started. 10 W, 13L, 3 OT, .912 Save %, 2.91 GA

Crow has 2 cups and won a ton of big games in his career. But the last cup was 5 years ago. Crow also has had 2 concussions.
Campbell is 7 years younger.
Also Crow is a rental. Campbell is signed for 2 more years at $1.65 mil.

- -Doh-

Seriously, you are really making this comparison?

Jack Campbell has played 58 NHL games total career, never ever in meaningful games. He is player who has never reached what supposedly was his 'potential', whatever that is or was.

Cro has about 750 regular season and playoff games. He isn't a 'rental' for any other reason than his contract expires at season end. He is still a #1 NHL goaltender by anybody's evaluation.

And one more thing, we"ll see just how good 'cap friendly' Jack Campbell is playing behind that godawful Maple Leaf defence. As much as Michael Hutchison is really an AHL goaltender, he has faced the 2nd most high danger chances of any NHL goalie this year.

You know what goalie has faced the most high danger chances this year? None other than Corey Crawford playing behind what is probably an even worse group of defenceman.

Why don't you try to officiate. Really...your such a tough guy.

The role of refs is to consistently police the rules of the game during play. You cannot honestly say that they did their jobs well last night. I'm not going to go all Powerenforcer on this, but last night was not a good game for the refs in terms of calling a consistent game.

We are allowed to criticize the refs when warranted. No one is taking away the difficulty of the job (and I really didn't think their comment was all that egregious).

Tough loss. Back to back ot games.

Last night they had more chances but missed. Kampf had a gimme tap in he jacked up. Toews hit the bar.

Debrincat Gus hit posts tonight.

It’s going to get more intense as the season wanes down. I already wrote them off weeks ago so I’m in the bonus mentally ....😂

Their pk and goaltending is masking a lot of issues here. No team is perfect but hawks have less room for error.

Hopefully 12 gets rolling.
- SteveRain

If he can all of a sudden start scoring in bunches would obviously be good. Strome has had a couple of meh games which isn't surprising given he's just coming back from injury.

Somehow a so so couple games for him has translated into a terrible season for some. Guy was on a .75 PPG clip after a slow start and he was just starting to look really confident, shooting more and burying his chances.

Getting those two going and Kubalik getting hot again on the trek through CAN would be welcome sights.

Hope Boq is ok. I know the result shouldn't influence the penalty but thought Krecji could have gotten five on that one.

I would swap out Nylander for Highmore and keep Smith on that 4th line. Smith/Carpenter/Highmore are 4th line type players whereas Nylander is not. Highmore's speed and forecheck would add to that line's effectiveness.
- 67hawks

Couldn't agree more. Before someone jumps down my throat, let me kindly say that I can't see what Nylander's role on this team is. Getting incrementally better, as time goes on, but can't he learn the bulk of these things in the AHL? Months in, and he's still engaging the game on the periphery. Still has an opportunity to be good, but the timing of it, remains out of sync.

Opposing teams have forever and a day to set up their plays with little to no forechecking in their zone. Highmore, with some speed at least, can bring a little heat. Smith can't provide either. Not ragging on Smith. He shouldn't be getting a ton of ice time, is all.

Welp, we're back to the days of farming the players out to places in the community to try and drum up interest in the Hawks:

Question though - why would you try drumming up interest at O'Hare with people LEAVING Chicago? Think the days of Keith and Sharp at Union Station made more sense.

Ref in over his head, inexperienced

.The goal immediately was waved off, with referee Peter MacDougall — who had only 83 games of NHL experience before this week — ruling defenseman Olli Maatta, who was lying on the ice after drawing a tripping penalty, hand-passed the puck to Caggiula.

- LAHawk

If the refs acknowledged that they got the call wrong, why don't they have a mechanism in place to get the call right there? They huddled up, why not have a quick peek at the tablet.

We can review a skate blade 1/8th of an inch off the ice for offsides, but we can't review a hand pass... what a load of sheet.

My problem is Pasternak told the ref it was a hand pass and the ref blew the whistle, at least that's what i saw, the ref didn't blow the whistle until then

Or score, anyone can score 40 goals in the NHL. When he learns to skate and shoot, maybe he can score 60.

People have been "Giving" the Preds one of the wild cards all year. I have seen several of their games. They are not what they were. The Preds, to me, have no more chance than the Hawks, Jets, Yotes or Flames for those last couple spots.
They are good, but not great.

Another note:
Why do Hawks finish season vs Islanders, Habs, Rangers????
We always ended with Blues, Preds or somebody in our division.
I don't like the fact we are not playing the teams we have to hunt down. Takes the control somewhat out of our hands. Isn't it strange we finish the year that way???

- hawk35

Yes! Agree with you. Preds goaltending has suffered a little this year. Could get hot at the right time, but we've heard this all before. They could easily miss the playoffs this year.

No specific message - just struck me that it has been a long time since the Hawks have had to do these "out in the public" appearances to drum up interest in the team. And, I found it a strange choice to pick people departing Chicago to approach. Thought they would be better served going to Union Station and talking to local commuters like they did in the mid 2000s decade with Keith and Sharpy and others.

As others have said on here, nothing sells like winning, but in the meantime, found it interesting the they've redoubled on the old marketing tactics.

Hopefully they found him last night, scorers are always streaky.
