Wonders? Are you serious m-effer? They have more talent up front than anyone else on the West.

and how exactly is that relevant to talking about bednar? plenty of completely stacked teams underperform every single season- just look at the leafs’ first half of the year, and their struggles with consistency continue. the bolts have a nearly identical lineup to the one that skulleffed the entire league all season last year and yet from october thru december it looked like they wouldn’t even make the playoffs.
and those are merely two examples of teams from this season.
a stacked lineup only translates to success when there’s a fundamentally functional and sound system in place, one the players as a collective buy into, one which plays to their strengths, e.g. throw a coach who is all about defense defense defense (to the point that it’s at the expense of offense) on this avs team and you think you still have the highest scoring team in the league? no. you don’t. leafs’ coaching change this season even shows that- moment the players could focus more on offense with the new coach things began to turn around.
moreover, the avs are the youngest team in the league; it takes a certain type of coaching personality and demeanor to speak to young guys in a manner that’ll translate to success and confidence. bednar’s style is exactly what helps make this young team successful. he also handles the young guys properly, not stunting their development by throwing them into situations they’re not ready for.
he was thrown into the fire when that a$$ roy opted to leave the team hanging and coach-less mere weeks before that season began. the team had a historically awful season but blaming bednar for that even remotely isn’t just inaccurate, it’s downright moronic.
every season since this team has improved. hell, look at last year; best line in hockey and literally zero backup to them, secondary scoring almost nonexistent and yet bednar took them to one game out from the western finals.
honestly, if you’re too thickheaded to understand what a great job he’s done then that’s fine, have fun being ignorant of the facts. but in no publication or report or tweet or anything of any official capacity has even hinted at bednar being gone, because guess what? he’ll deservedly be this team’s coach for years to come.
if anyone needs replacing, it’s our special teams coaches. the fact our PP and PK are both so atrocious isn’t on bednar- it’s on the guys running those special teams.
