Yes Lou. Back in the day, opponents would put a 'shadow' on Hull. Most of the time, Hull found ways to overcome it, but he certainly had trouble finding any kind of open ice many nights. When teams 'shadow' Kane, and Kane has no room to skate fast with the puck, he is useless. His reach is short, so he can't backcheck because he gets hooking or tripping penalties. But the 'I don't care' attitude when he does not have the puck, is truly pathetic. I have no clue why anyone thinks he is a great player. Offensively he is very good. In ALL other aspects (forecheck, backcheck, boards, and god forbid, parking himself in front of the net) of the game, grade D or F. - MadHatter
You're gonna hear it now from the Kane fanboys. I agree with all of this and never liked Kane. He's great offensively but terrible otherwise. |

I think coaches are like defensemen, it takes some time for them to learn and grow into the coach they will be...I would say something like 3 or 4 seasons in the NHL before you truly know what kind of coach they are. - ToewsdNKanefusd
Agreed.
I knew a guy back on the DH board who was a fill in for media in the room. Had some decent contacts, etc. He told me the knock on when Q took over was his inability to beat Detroit and/or go deep in the playoffs.
7 years in STL, 1 Conference final and an overall playoff record of 34-34
3 years in COL, 2 of 3 playoff appearances and an overall playoff record of 8-11
JC's biggest hurdle is getting his team and the most out of them on a consistent basis. Think that's improved as time has gone by.
The other variable here is what JC wants to run and Bowman/him working together to have the right players to maximize the return.

Any predictions on tonight's game.
I say Bruins walk 6-1. It's over early. Lehner vs Crow argument will heat up. Posters will be saying sell off and tank big time tomorrow.
Sorry about last night's prediction. I said Minny wins 4-2 (with an overtime goal). |

LMAO
Right.....1003 pts in 958 career games, and another 123 points in 127 PLAYOFF games.
Hilarious.
Old time hockey....the great Bobby Hull who always played every shift and this and that....please.
No, Kane is not a great player. You both start a petition to get him dealt since he isn't in front of the net grinding away...……Maybe they can get a pick and go sign the lazy goof whom Winnipeg is about to part ways with.
Is he a defensive liability? NO. He has improved since his rookie year. His game has also improved based on his production.

Kane has always had a handful of games a season where he looks like he would rather be anywhere but playing hockey. Last night was the first one since early in the season where he had no jump at all to his game. It happens. Every player in the league has nights like that. Also, it is okay to give the other team some credit. They obviously had a plan against Kane and they went out and executed the plan.
Kane had a poopty game. Nothing more. Nothing less. - Elbows15
Anyone who has played sports at a competitive level knows some days you just don't have any legs (especially as you get older).
I imagine even for pro athletes it is hard to "bring it" when you don't have legs. Mentally you know you don't have it and physically you just don't have it and there isn't really anything you can do about it.
It happens. This team is in last place by a mile without Kane.
Kane is as dedicated to hockey as anyone. From what I have read/seen he eat sleeps and breathes it all year round. |

I think the HAWKS come out with a lot more fire tonight . Lehner will need to be stellar, as he has been before . HAWKS win 3 to 1 and the Kreider talk heats up |

I didn't catch the game last night, but by the looks of this board, we just capped off a 5 game losing streak with an 8 - 0 loss to the Senators. - Dieselhead

A win or a loss tonight will not determine whether we get in the dance or not. The Bruins are the better team, but the better team doesn’t always win. I want to see them engaged from puck drop, and energy all game. We need for Elbow’s favorite goaltender to stand on his head tonight. 5-4 Hawks, we need to start winning at home. |

For sure. Last night was a clunker. All teams have them and the fact that the Hawks weren't on the wrong side of a laugher after the first period was a good thing.
They battled and found a way to get a point. Two would be better, but to get one where it looked like none was possible is a good thing.
I'll take it and hope for a better effort vs BOS tonite. - HawkintheD
Some peoples just gotta always biotch.....if Hawks beat bruins, rockin robin sucks.
If Hawks lose, lardass AND Strome suck.
So let it be written, so let it be done |

Would love for them to make the playoffs Also realize they may not have enough to get there as constructed.
More importantly Im looking 2-3 years down the road. I don't want Bowman mortgaging the future for a short playoff run this spring. Still think you have to listen on 1 of the 2 goalies at the deadline as you aren't resigning both. Losing 1 for nothing is foolish IMO given their need to replenish the system at F.
I can't stand Marchand. Dirtiest player in hockey. Theres being an agitator and then being a piece of crap and he's the latter. |

Would like to see them make playoffs without mortgaging....goalie situation is a tough one, time will tell.
Marchand is bolland on steroids, would take him any day

I'm not advocating either side here, but considering the following two options, which do you think would put the Hawks in the best position for the future and now(and yes I'm being vague on purpose)?
1) Hawks make no moves at the deadline.
2) Hawks make five trades. |

Line #1, LW Kane, C Kane, RW Kane
Line #2, LW Toews, C Toews, RW Toews

8-0, Lehner gets pulled after letting in the first 3 shots over a 2 minute span. |
