In addition to Boqvist who appears at number 1, here are the other prospects rounding out the top 10...
2) Mitchell
3) Barratt
4) Beaudin
5) Kurashev
6) Regula
7) Shea
8) Entwistle
9) Teply
10) Carlsson - HawkintheD
My list would have Kurashev ahead of Barratt. |

Sounds like Shea has some potential. Wonder why we haven't him much about him before. I noticed the Hawks have to sign him by August 15, 2020, otherwise he's a free agent. Anybody know if he has shown an interest in signing with the Hawks? - boilermaker100
He has in the past. |

Cool. Well earned.
He and Dach, as they adjust fully to the rigors of NHL life, are gonna be needed cogs in order for the 'Hawks to become Cup contenders again.
And I sure hope Nylander can develop, as well. He has shown some flashes and he IS needed if he can get there.
Further development from Cat and Strome and pretty soon you're looking at the real deal here, folks! |

13 right after CHI. Hoglander, Podkolzin and Madden were your top 3. - HawkintheD
No offence to the moron making those rankings but If Chicago is ahead of Van.
I like Ian Mitchell, he was higher on my draft board then where he was taken but if he's your #2 ranked prospect. He would be probably 7th on Van's. |

I think patience is the Key with Nylander ,he can be very frustrating to watch at times .And I believe the reason for that is you can see he has the talent and smarts to be a top player ,just has not put it together .His brother progressed a bit faster in Toronto ,but was much maligned by fans and media, but is now silencing his critics .Can hope for something a long those lines for Alex in Chicago . |

Patience ran out after a lacklustre training camp. Trade Nylander while he still has some minimal value left. A 4th or 5th round pick is better than nothing. |

I’d rather go another year with a potential top-6 forward - as frustrating as he’s been in his first full season in the Show - than get another 4th round pick that likely won’t mean anything. |

If I had to guess it's cause he thinks the Hawks have more guys that could potentially make it to the NHL, but not necessarily have high end or very good prospect potential.
If Boqvist hadn't of been included the Hawks would have finished further back also. |

I’m most excited to see how Teply develops, he’s had an impressive rookie season and a stand-out WJHC. |

Article from Ben Pope of the Sun Times on January 27 quotes Mitchell:
"Definitely, I want to sign with the Blackhawks, and [as] soon as I can do [so] is going to be the plan,’’ said Mitchell, a 5-11 defenseman. ‘‘But I just want to focus on winning a national championship for now, and whatever happens after the season will take care of itself.’’ |

This sounds accurate to me. The Hawks really do have a collection of prospects who could be good to great bottom 6 role players in the NHL, i.e. Entwistle, Fortin, Hakkarainen, Saarela, Slavin, Soderlund, and Wedin.
Elbows said this about what the Hawks had in Nordstrom and now with Highmore. This is very true.
The hawks won't have room for all of them but that's why prospects are also assets for trades to upgrade areas of need, even if just gaining draft picks.
Barratt, Hagel, Kurashev, Teply, and perhaps Wise have middle 6 potential, IMO. |

Here’s a thought. Go the ‘The Athletic’. Read the rankings, and how they were determined. Then, and only then, can you make an educated comment.
I guess it’s not just the USA where people give opinions on things they haven’t read, seen or heard. |

Same here, Darth. Teply and Barratt are the forward prospects not yet in Rockford who I am most excited to see.
Both could be signed to an ELC this summer. Barratt would be a no brainer for me but would be fine if Teply played another year in juniors.
Wise used to be up there for me but his stock seems to be declining. Still a viable prospect, though, more as a 3C than a 2C. |

Seriously OT, but YOWZA, the Waste Management Phoenix Open just came on CBS and they opened with a bit on the 16th hole there...
16,000 people at just that hole.
They were lined up by the thousands at the gate at 6 am.
There are stands set up literally surrounding the hole.
That hole has to be one of the most unique holes in golf, strictly based on the fan situation.
(I'd bet a lot of money they're not referred to as "patrons" there like they do at Augusta!) |

7. Ryan Shea, LHD, 22 (Northeastern University)
If Mitchell is firmly in the conversation as one of the better defensemen in college hockey, Shea isn’t far behind. He has been stellar this year, turning a good college career into a great finish. As with Regula at the junior level, some of that has to do with age and experience as he is now the oldest defenseman on the Huskies. But I’ve been impressed by the growth in his mindset and a couple of his skills, too. Shea has always excelled as a smooth-skating defender who can move the puck up with clean outlets and a heads-up style. But he also moved from forward to defense as a teenager, he doesn’t have a great shot and his defending needed time to round out. This year, it has been nice to see him play a little more aggressively, building on his obvious poise to assert himself in games a little more consistently. I’ve seen him carry the puck more in all three zones, and try some higher-risk plays (which he has the skill to execute on) from the blue line in. His defensive game, which I through had begun to show some NHL qualities last year, has continued to blossom too. He’s an excellent rush defender, gapping up effectively and using his stick efficiently to disrupt carriers and force dumps or bobbles. And while he’s not a physical defender despite his pro size, Shea does a nice job anticipating puck movement in the offensive zone to intercept passes and step into lanes. He may not be quite dynamic enough to run the power play at the NHL level but he can get the puck from A to B — and that’s the name of the game these days. - HawkintheD
Thanks for posting this, D. Great to see marked improvement from Shea during his NCAA tenure. An amped up senior year enhances his chances for an ELC so he can continue his development in the AHL.
Shea would still be lower on the D prospect chart but could steadily rise in the rankings like Gilbert did. Similar to how Beaudin and Krys are being groomed, let Shea focus on his defensive game even though he does have puck moving capacity. |

Hey Fox, not sure if this would be your take or not, but from what I've read, sounds like Nordgren could be included too. |
