If it was 2015 Michael Frolik, sure, 2020 Michael Frolik is a #12-13 forward. All your doing is taking ice time away from Highmore, Nylander etc. Rather see the kids at this point.

I’d just switch Dach and Strome.
- walleyeb1

Only reason I disagree with this is because of the chemistry Cat and Strome have. Keep em together.

Isn’t Josh Anderson currently having a horrible season? Last I heard his production was WAY down. But that was like a month ago.

Edit: just checked he’s got 4 pts in 26 games this season.

Strome for Anderson should get someone fired.
- Elbows15

What if anderson and jenner for strome? I know jenner can play both center and wing next year dach becomes 2nd line center and Jenner as 3rd line center. Not saying i would do this trade. I like strome a lot and has been trending in right direction since coming to the hawks lots of upside like nylander.

Murray was #2 overall in his draft year. He may have more games missed than played career wise due to Injuries most if not each year. He is a descent talent, could be strong third pair and descent second pair when he is in line up for a while. Skates and can move puck fairly well; he has been descent defensively but do you take another player on the roster who gets hurt all the time? Like Shaw does although with Shaw it is concussion and Murray all sort of injuries

I get it that you have Murphy natural RD and skates worse than Murray. But I'd Murphy is healthy he probably soldifies their defense. Anderson and Murray a two for one with Murphy departing.....I have to really like Anderson because that Murray is always missing bulk if a season. I have no opinion whether I would do that trade. I want a detailed report on Murray health for start of even considering if I want to ponder if this trade is sensible.

- jhawk59

Economically doesn't work, even if Anderson signs for the lowest he can as an RFA, at $2 Million with Murray at $4.6M, that is $6.6 million coming back against the books next year vs. $3.8 mil going out. You would definitely have to trade Saad, or go with Lankanen/Delia in the nets next year.

Also as you mentioned Murray is often injured and is a left D. We have 2 at his pay grade that are often injured who play left D now (DaHaan and Matta). It was reported that Stan was kicking the tires of Murray last summer, and ended up with DaHaan and Matta. Putting aside the potential talent level of Murray as a #2 overall pick, the player going out and the players coming back in your proposed trade do not make sense IMO, either economically or team structure wise.

This is not to say I do not like the potential of Murray and Anderson, I just do not see them being a fit in a trade for the Hawks. Now if you offer Matta for those 2 (which I doubt Columbus would be interested in doing), I would be all ears.

Why would Zach Smith have a "maintenance" day off after a long break? Maybe other reasons????
- -Doh-

Could be sick.

He's practicing today... so we may found out. But seems like he's fine.

Dach-Saad and Kane won't work. That 3rd line won't be able to get out of their own zone. The 4th line is what it should have been all season.

actually pretty good. I like it.
if Dach and Kane develops a chemistry together, then there will be 3 scoring lines. (could also make Saad expendable)
Toews and Kub is clicking,
Dcat-Strome has always been productive, add Kampf as the defensive player.
Smith-Carpenter-Nylander was good at the beginning of this season too (I believe most of Nylander's pts or goals, was from that?)

He doesn't read the game that well that's why he's on the wing. He's terrible in his own zone. An 18 year old rookie is better than him defensively
- GPHawksfan

He's on the wing because the coach doesn't know what he's doing. He would be fine in his own zone if the team actually played a structured defense.

Dach is a pretty special talent. Arguably as good as Toews in the D zone right now. Not sure that is a knock at this point.

Why won’t Saad-Dach-Kane work?

And that 3rd line would get easier matchups and features a guy coming off a 40 goal season along with 2 other highly skilled former top 10 picks. Not many better 3rd lines on paper across the entire league.

Also, if you agree on that 4th line then where the hell else are Dach and Nylander supposed to slot in?

- SimpleJack

Saad Strome Kane. Someone with some hands to feed either of those guys and good finish in close.

You need someone out there that is not allergic to the defensive side of the puck.

Why would Dach and Kane building chemistry make Saad expendable? Who's to say that a big part of the reason that they do (theoretically) build chemistry isn't the contributions from Saad (corner work, speed, driving to the net, defensive play)?

While his ideal spot is on the 4th line, I don't have a real problem with Kampf being on a line with Strome and ADB considering what else is available to them.
I think if Nylander plays, the 4th line is probably best until he can figure out how to put it all together.

Nylander needs to be on the 4th line and Saad isn't expendable, we need more good players not less.

When Strome and Cat are on the same line, I keep forgetting that we aren't actually killing off 2 minutes. We have the numbers going back, but it makes no difference. We are under a prolonged siege.

Would you trade Jenner and Anderson for Strome? Bear in mind the Hawks should be acquiring draft picks and not adding them to any trades at this point in their evolution

Let's hope it works better than it has up to this point. Though, Kane not having to drag Carpenter around with him should be an improvement. And I like what Carpenter brings to a team in certain roles.

They both try on the defensive end. That isn't their problem. Dinky's decision making is Versteeg-like at times and Strome gets lost due to his lack of quickness.

I think we all need to remember that at the beginning of the year Colliton said that he was going to change the line up game to game (and even within games) depending on what they thought the best match-ups would be. We can debate the intelligence and results of that concept, but he at least is sticking to his philosophy.

Also:

Ben Pope‏ @BenPopeCST · 1h1 hour ago

Colliton on the Saad-Dach-Kane line that he used today:

"It's an option. It's not necessarily how we'll start tomorrow, but [it's] an opportunity to try some different things. Kirby, whoever he plays with, he's been very effective."

I would consider strome for jenner and Anderson but more likely due to strome's upside and high ceiling potential no. Plus everyone down on nylander need to realize he is 21 and first full year so lets wait see.

Blackhawk hockey starved fans:
Icehogs resumed play tonight and lost in a shootout.to Manitoba. Delia in net. Soderlund returned to lineup but Kurasaev still out. Although the vicous play by White on Kurasaev is an example of unfair penalty rules.....if indeed the hit or flagrant act got White suspended, an arguement could be made that he should not suit up again until Kurasaev does. This sort of play happens in the entire hickey playing leagues but to date no entirely fgair system is in place to judge the perpetrators of eggregious plays

They would never make the deal they really wanted Jokiharju instead of Dach who we don't have anymore.
