Great Blog.
In your opinion how does an imaginary trade between the Flames and Columbus look involving 2 players having down seasons in JG & JA?

Yes we could use Anderson as trade money, but only for a 2C, as the season is progressing , I cringe every time I see either Jenner or Wennberg manning the second line. This must be on top of Jarmo's shopping list , if he has one.

The Flames won't be trading Gaudreau before the end of the season, if they were to consider trading him at all. It makes zero sense for them to trade away their top offensive player, when they are needing more offense. They really need Gaudreau to get back on track, in order to resolve their scoring concerns.

There is definitely an interest in Anderson by the Flames, but he does not get Columbus a player of Gaudreau's caliber, even in a down year for Gaudreau.

My trade would be: 1) Anderson + either Savard or Murray; or 2) Anderson + Milano;
or 3) Anderson + high prospect.

As a flames fan I wouldn’t trade JG for any of those options. In a down year JG is on pace for over 60 points while Anderson’s career high lands at 47 and correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t he playing with panarin. Either way not that I think JG is a player that can carry us to a cup on his shoulders alone I only see us trading him if we don’t think we can resign him 2 years from now.

Considering how bad his season has gone while healthy the most I could offer for Anderson right now would be Bennett plus conditional picks depending on performance.

Hi folks, especially you visitors from Flames land.

With all due respect, Gaudreau is a good player, an excellent player, and obviously having a down year. But IMO he does fit as the kind of player Torts and JK want. The CBJ has been down this road before, when they got Marion Gaborik from the Rangers in 2013 to add scoring to the CBJ.

It didn't work out at all and the following year he got sent out west for peanuts (to Kings or Ducks, not sure who). I really prefer not to make the same mistake again.

Maybe what needs to be said is that at this point the CBJ has what it has and needs to win or lose with it. There are several big players who need raises in the off-season, and the farm system needs to improve (not that it hasn't done a great job the past few years sending players up).

Let other teams try to get our players and we demand a big return, not the other way around.
