note to the nhl, that laser sensor accuracy contest was a disaster, pretty sure some targets were actually a hit .

I enjoyed the women’s hockey 3v3 last night, but I feel like the push by all in media saying the same thing “the women stole the show” is cheapening it. It feels too forced by everyone. It was good, the all star skills competition as a whole was subpar. It wasn’t amazing or show stealing - it was a good effort to display women’s hockey and hopefully will encourage more women to play. Quit forcing a narrative.

Only watched fastest skater and hardest shot.

The only somewhat enjoyable events in the skills comp.

I totally agree. It was a great mix having both female and male hockey players on the ice together but that doesn't mean that women's hockey should be treated with kid gloves...it still requires development before it can "steal the show". To push a false narrative and/or to not provide constructive criticism is a disservice to female hockey players. It is more than enough that they are out there having fun and showing other women it can be done.

Quotes not working: note to the nhl, that laser sensor accuracy contest was a disaster, pretty sure some targets were actually a hit .

No kidding, just go back to the old fashioned Styrofoam targets that explode when getting shot at. Frank this laser BS!

I had girls on my teams growing up. Some of them were really good, some sucked

They guy above nailed it, it feels so forced and you can say anything negative about it at all

The way to grow womens hockey is exposure. Once a year during the all star game is not going to bring in tv deals or season ticket buyers.

But God forbid you say that or even suggest alternatives people freak out

Remember arena football? No one called its critics biggots. They have the sams issues. No tv deals, no season ticket holders, no advertise sales = no money. No money = no league

How about just having a National hockey league? No gender division. Some of them gals could easily give a few nhl teams a boost to their lineup

The NHL overall did a pretty solid job last night with the skills competition

They need to get rid of the lame accuracy challenge displays. Put some Styrofoam circles and let them explode... That screen they used was barely even accurate

Lol yes. There isn't much upper body power to their game. One of the girls last night passed up a wide open shot from the dot and skated it over to the boards to look for a better play. Not my style of entertaining hockey. Maybe they can find women who will come out and support them as a traveling group but it won't be me.

Just show back to back games featuring these women and nhl players, you will quickly realize how far apart they are. I love that they get exposure from this, more girls need to get into hockey, but stop the bs. They are as far away from the nhl as my beer league is.

Go back to the old puck relay. That was by far the best thing they did.

exposure for the women was good, but they did not come close to stealing the show

in fact it was the worst thing on the show, not that it was a bad thing

The worst thing by far was the shooting the puck from the stands.

Not even close. I thought it was cool, not great by any means, but like said above, no way it stole the show.

Thought the skills comp was ok. Pissed they took out the stick handling and passing relay. They need to add a stick handling comp from now on, these kids stick handling skills are insane and it needs to be showcased. And the accuracy shooting with the electronic targets was a joke. Thought a lot of targets were hit but weren’t registering. Go back to the original styrofoam targets, you knew when was was hit and even barely hit.

The womans 3 on 3 game was the best part of the skills competition.

The women's 3x3 was not very good, so if they were the best of the deal, then the deal wasn't very good. While I applaud the NHL for giving the women a platform, I think they (NHL) did them a disservice by the gimmicky 3x3, running time, two 10 minute periods 'game'. It should have been a full game between these two women's powerhouses......much better way to showcase women's hockey.

Shooting from the stands was idiotic... I want:
Hardest wrist shot
Hardest backhand
Hardest one-timer or most precise one-timer
Most precise shot (increasingly smaller targets)
Targets that actually work

I dont think there is a future for womens hockey. Its just isnt interesting to watch. Most people want the NHL and that is it. Even the AHL and Junior leagues dont get much attention. Some people watch to see future stars which I get but unless Women are going to hang in the NHL, I just dont see it working out and logistically I dont see Women ever making the NHL frankly because its going to put the NHL in an awkward position when a guy lays a hit on a woman. We all know how todays society is going to respond.

NHL radio declared that the women stole the show before the game started. Sounds like the NHL propaganda dept was ahead of this event.

NHL falling all over themselves to be more “inclusive “. They are simply using these women. If the NHL where really serious about women’s hockey they would fund a true WNHL. Until then, they can chew the root

Also, where is the NHL with Manon Rheaume? You know the first female ever to actually suit up and play against NHL players in an NHL uniform? For all this inclusion stuff the NHL is doing why not show off the one girl who you can say actually did it. And she’s not bad to look at either. Definitely someone to promote more for the women game especially on a level like the All-star game.
