1) sure. I like it.

2) it's tempting. But nah. No free passes. SC is earned, everybody needs 16 real wins.

4) i'd go one step further. Kill offsides and icings for both teams. Open it up. Would bring some uniqiness to the same old pp set up by every team.

Nothing else really turned my crank.

I agree with number 6, laying down to make a play should be a penalty.

I like the no star fish. Players should.be penalized if they leave there feet on purpose. Less shot blocks, more pucks to the net and more goals.
McDavid wouldn't break his leg on a stupid play that should never happen.

I also think on line changes players should.have to wait until the guy they are replacing is on the.bench. way more odd man rushes or tired players on the ice

1) bring back red vs blue all stars. regular game of three 20min period + continuous OT like a play-off game. each team is coached and drafted/roster-created by the top two NHL coaches (no division, no conference). each team sends at least 1 player to the allstar draft. it consists of 6 goalies, 12d, rest are forwards and should form 2 teams with 12F-6D-3G (each goalie is mandatory to play 1 20min period, order and OT goalie is decided by the coach). coach/goalie/players from the same team, has to be in the same ASG team. the prize for winning the game? 2 points added in the standings for the team of all the players in the winning ASG team.

2) free win is too much - how about a free 5min major powerplay in the first 5 minutes of all game 1 of their PO series?

3) up for this, i believe this is being tested now in one of the minor leagues

4) offsides is one way a defense disrupts the offense throughout the game, so this shouldnt be taken out. taking away icing for the defending team would be better. PK is the only time icing is allowed for the defending team. thats a weird rule

5) no, whats a "cool" goal?

6) no, when someone starfish, he takes himself out of the play. leave him laying down.

7) i would like to see this, good for "punishment". would the PK team be allowed icing?

8) additional - icing the puck 3 or more times in the last 3 minutes of the game (and) while the opponent have their goalie pulled results in a 2min minor

Wow #2 is really stupid. The President's trophy winner gets a free win AND home ice advantage. May as well just hand them the first round win.

If you give one team a bye then there would be one less team in the playoffs. Do the math

You seem confused. Grab a calculator and do the math yourself.

Cool goals. Man. We all love em, but I don’t think anyone wants something subjective like this effecting games.

I like the idea of removing allowable icing on the PK and/or as many goals on the PP whether 2 min or 5 min.

I would like the NHL to give 3 points for regulation wins. It's ridiculous that there are only 2 points for a regulation win, which is better, and still 2 for OT or SO.

I get the parity thing though and it's good for playoff races = more interest = more $$$. But I don't think this would affect that too much, and still reward teams more for winning in regulation.

I really like the idea of the highest 3 teams in each conference picking their opponents in the playoffs (the 4th team would just have to play whoever is left). It would reward teams who finish higher more, but also put pressure on them to win and make the chosen team mad, all of which makes for a really interesting series across the board.

As for the other ideas, well I like your creativity, but I don't think any of them ever should or will be (thankfully) implemented.

Nice work, Sean.

I'm curious as to what Tanner thinks about these recent "special" blogs?

Drafting your playoff opponent would be cool!

I still think win's should be worth 3 points and ties be worth 1 point. The shootout is fun, but achieves very little.

Also, instead of the draft lottery. The bottom 4 teams should have a round robin tournament for draft position
