Hawks should try to move CC (if he would waive his NTC) to EDM for Puljujarvi. Big kid, good hands/speed and playmaking

He'd look nice on Dach's RW and be a good add to the top 9
Caggulia-Toews-Kubilak
Saad-Strome-Kane
ADB- Dach - Puljujarvi

- PatShart

Sounds exactly like a guy the Oilers could use.

LETS START BY TALKING TO BOTH GOALTENDERS SEE WHAT THEY WANT, IF LEHNER WANTS 5 YEARS AT 7-8 MILLION A YEAR TRADE HIM DONT LET HIM WALK FOR NOTHING , I FIGURE YOU MAY BE ABLE TO SIGN CRAWFORD FOR 3 YEARS MAYBE 4 MILLION A YEAR. WE HAVE 2 YOUNG GOALTENDERS THAT ARE GOING TO NEED PLAYING TIME.
ALSO NEED TO TRADE GUSTAFSSON MAYBE GET A PICK OR PROSPECT,

- Ging72

I cant justify giving CC any more then 1 year deal given his health history. He got his big deal, this current 1, and has had multiple concussions. They don't need more dead money then they already do now with Seabrook and Shaw.

Stan has a challenge on his hands this TDL as far as defense and goaltending this year and next.
1. What if DeHaan doesn’t come back healthy for 20/21?
2. Same for Seabrook
3. Should he trade Maatta given #1 and #2 above?
4. Mitchell will probably sign with BH, what if he doesn’t?
5. Koekkoek is playing well, how much will he cost?
6. Goalies, TC covered this one, we will find out soon enough
7. Has to take next year’s cap into consideration
8. Good luck! This list does not include the forward group.

- Angotti

100% agreed....honestly could be his most challenging summer since 2010.

You know....there are two series we LOST that were fantastic series as well, and likely would have been the BEST series had Hawks won them

1. Hawks were down 0-3 against the Nucks, fought all the way back to game 7. 2011 I believe.

2. Hawks vs Kings (was it 2014???). Kings win in OT of Game 7. Super series....if we could have won that, Rangers in Cup final.....another Cup likely.

Two great series....if we COULD have won them, woulda been among the best!

- hawk35

And both Dmen at the heart of key plays in the losses for the Hawks never wore a Hawks jersey again (Leddy and Campoli)

If you move Lehner I would risk giving Crow one year at $5mil/$6mil or 2 years at $4mil. Lankinen or Delia getting their footing as a backup. If Crow goes down with a concussion he goes on LTIR and you can probably find a replacement mid year (similar to the "B" level goalies we are talking about signing if both Lehner and Crow walk).

By the same token, Lehner is one drink away from returning to where he was. By no means do I hope it happens but it is the reality with recovering addicts.

14 Kings. A nick leddy missed block away from a 3 peat
- BMoreHawks

If only he could have jumped out of the way sooner (his preference over actually blocking a shot). Instead he deflected the puck into the net. Leddy currently has the least blocked shots on the Islanders.

My opinion may not be favorable but I'm going to say it.

You do not need an elite goal tender to win a stanley cup. As someone said previously, you need a hot goaltender. That could be Crawford, Delia, Scott Foster, Niemi, Huet, whoever.

Why in the world are we going to lock up 7 or 8 million in goaltending next year when we have far greater deficiencies.

Sure, Lehner would be a great leader and elite goaltender but that is not our biggest hole.

I WANT him on this team, but we don't NEED him.

I think this money can be used more wisely.

2009 vs Vancouver was a fantastic series. that series was a huge tell of the "balls" this team had by winning that series vs a team the media had pinned as cup favorite

2009 vs Detroit....they lost 2 of 4 in OT.

2010 vs Nashville.....that PK to start OT after kane scored was beyond nerve racking. Niemi stoned two guys in the slot right in front of our seats.

2010 vs San Jose...this series outside of game 2 was a coin flip

2010 vs Philly.....Buff hammering Pronger might be my favorite hit.

2011 vs Vancouver.....The Toews SH goal to send it to OT was just pure want.....I lvoed this series. Frolik ripping Schneider's groin, and the drama of Luongo entering the game was movie like. Sharp missing a back door 1 timer on the PP to start OT is overlooked. That game 7 was the arrival of Crawford.

2013 vs Detroit....I can still see Hammer about to tomahawk his stick after firing an absolute lazer by Howard.

2014 vs LA.....I hate Brandon Bolig for this alone. I saw him line up vs Williams and talk $hit in game 7 and then got it shoved in his face. You don't poke a playoff big stakes player. Much like when Marchand ran his mouth vs Kane in Boston. Hawks played very timid that 3rd period...you could feel the tie coming.

2015 vs Anaheim...I call this the meathead series.....I enjoy open hitting as much as anyone and seeing a guy get smoked in person is a huge thrill if it's clean. Its an art....but this series exposed the thought of heavy teams checking teams to death

I attribute that to Bowman's affinity for Swedes and Swedish dmen in particular. If Jokiharju was of Swedish blood and Nylander was a Finn Joki would still be here.

Respectfully disagree

An elite goalie calms everything down. The defense isn't trying to make the perfect the play because they aren't worried every single mistake is in the back of the net.

The forwards can take more chances....

Their is margin for error.

Since 2009.....cup winning goalies

Fleury, NIemi, thomas, Quick, Crawford, Quick, Crawford, Murray, Murray, Holtby, and Binnington

As of right now......out of those 11 championships.

Niemi isn't elite
Binnington is unknown so far

that's it.

Not if you are trying to trade CC for him. Doesn't really matter much. What is the big draw for JP? He seems like a higher drafted version of Nylander. I have no real problem with Nylander, but he's just another guy who doesn't seem to have been able to get anything going (with three different coaches). Yes they are young and should be left to develop, but how many of these guys should we be stashing on this team?

That said he is a PPG forward playing in SM-Liiga this year.

All good questions, here is my take possibly, regarding the goalies I really don’t think the Hawks want to give Robin Lehner that for five years, Hate to say this because I don’t know that much about the man’s personal training habits but I’ll refer her back to Greg Luzinski more recently , Dustin Byfugliens, both of these guys like to sit by the kitchen table and let’s face it they always struggle with their weight. If this guy is 240 pounds already at 27 years old and a goaltender where is he going get a fat contract for five years , I would be cautious, I think it’s all gonna come down to dollars and cents, but if I am the Hawks, and If there is an offer that blows me off the table at the trade deadline for this kid I make the deal. Then re-sign Crawford to a two or three-year friendlier deal and develop or draft A goalie. I do not believe it is in their system right now no matter how high some people are onsome of these kid goalies already here in the minors. If they could pry Spencer Knight away from the Panthers all the better.

If Lehner isn't signed as the #1 goalie, sign Cro to an incentive laden 35+ contract. 2M base, with 2M or so in bonuses based on games played, wins, save %, shutouts, reaching the playoffs, etc. If he stays healthy and plays like a #1, he'll earn 4M. If he gets reconcussed or his play falters, Hawks on the hook for only 2M.

Posted this on the last blog - the link for the full article summarized nicely by SteveRain earlier in this blog:

Month out trade deadline predictions and suggestions for every. team in the NHL. Only Hawk mentioned as attractive trade bait (to another team) is Lehner.

https://theathletic.com/1...efore-the-trade-deadline/

On KKKK question, I believe I read an article recently that said he had been playing tight, afraid to make a mistake and be scratched. Then [someone] talked to him and told him just to play his game and we're seeing the results.

I could, of course, be confusing him with Kubalik or imagining the whole thing.
