Still not going to watch this all star figure skating show.

All star game is almost as ugly as the overhyped outdoor matches. Just can't warm up to a game where there is always more discussion about the weather than the hockey.

I love Brady, but there were better players who were "overlooked" here. this seems more like an inclusion because it's a good media story, rather than him being deserving of inclusion. i'm not saying he isn't a great player, but should he really be there ahead of guys like Barkov, Marchand, Tavares, etc

that being said, I think Brady's personality is PERFECT for this event. he'll likely be a "star of the show" during the skills comp, if for no other reason than his reactions to what's going on. it will definitely be more fun than having those other guys there.

I feel similarly.

Maybe it's the nostalgia, but i wouldn't mind north Amrerica vs the world again, but i doubt even that I'd watch much of.

Or maybe that would be too one sided...

The few times I have watched the all star game, I begin to wonder what I am supposed to be watching for. I don't care who wins. I don't want anyone to try too hard and get hurt. And, the next day, there is nothing from the event that I can remember. Clearly the event is not about fans. It is a league event for corporate sponsors and their strategic partners.

the game is just a footnote to the skills competition......that's the highlight of the event, that's what fans want to see and remember. the game is meaningless, just something they "have to do" in conjunction with the skills comp

No doubt. But that's part of why I like it. The NHL passes up on good media stories too often, so it was nice to see them take this one.

I loved the All-Star game as a kid. Couldn’t wait to watch the skills and game. The allure got lost as I got older and recognized the players play at 10% but I still see kids having a blast. It’s for the next generation of fans.

That said, I went to the All-Star game in Ottawa and saw Chara break the hardest shot record and gave several well-deserved standing ovations for Alfie. It was special event to watch live and be a part of. I don’t regret going at all.

Definitely agree there is not much excitement watching it on TV as an adult, but it is what it is. I think they should combine All-Star weekend with the outdoor game. Two awful birds with one stone and you’d still pack the house.

Perhaps you have the best perspective. It made me think about the Calgary game when the ref tossed the starting centres so the Tkachuck brothers could face off to start the game. Fans and media loved the story.

Maybe the all star game is primarily a convention. Everyone comes together to confirm their commitment to grow the game. I am not a fan of what they do on the ice. But, I can certainly support their desire to grow the game.

I think Hainsey to Leafs makes sense.

More important, I think he would immediately help improve the Leafs defensive play.

Leaf forwards appear to be defensively inept, more often they are simply MIA.

Need a veteran Dman, almost an assistant coach like presence on the ice, to remind Leaf forwards to play out their defensive responsibilities. Too much blame is being dumped on goaltending. Problem is, the attack guys are so preoccupied with their offensive ambitions they come up short on their defensive responsibilities.

if babcock was still the coach there, this deal is probably already done.......but with dubas and keefe running the show, I can't see a dman like hainsey being used there.

I could see maybe a fit for him in Columbus......maybe a package with pageau and hainsey for a 1st and a prospect or something like that.....or maybe a return to Pittsburgh for him.

I like Brady on the team. Yes its a pr move. But so is the whole weekend. To promote the great NHL , the best game on earth. I like the fact Mathews still went and took part of off ice activities.
