Or their attempt to kick them out of the hallway when Q, Kane, Toews, Keith and Seabrook got together and were catching up

- PatShart

Sorry but if you watch that clip correctly they aren't kicking the players and Q out of the hallway. It's to kick the press members and camera guys out to send them to the press room. You can't use that as fuel to your argument when it's blatantly false.

Yeah, I am not going to call him lard ass because 1 guy hates on him. Sorry.

Guy is very good. Should be signed here? Up for debate but there is no discounting his play on the ice.

- SteveRain

Yep wrong use of Lard Ass, taking the piss maybe.

He is real good, Stan has a hard choice to make, wish it were anyone but Stan
but here we are. 4x$7 works as long as NTC/MNC not included

He is having a BAD YEAR is spot on and totally agree, the spin is insane

- gazza53

Got it.

He will rebound. Too much skill, talent. Could easily just be a mental roadblock...and pressure of a new deal.

Im sure not 1 athlete has EVER pressed or tried to hard to live up a new deal in year 1 or right after signing it.

I don't care who screwed up, it was bs it wasn't aired.

Especially after it was mentioned in the pregame show the 1st time out he was being recognized.

Glad I got to see two Mike Bloomberg political ads instead......

Yeah, McD and Rocky's faces that the Hawks chose to include in the video of the tribute didn't scream "thrilled to hear how excited the crowd is to welcome this guy back."

On your second point, I think the team was trying to shuttle the reporters out of the hallway and into the room for JC's post-game, rather than trying to get Q and the players to move along. Of course the reporters wanted to see/hear the reunion, but I don't think it was disrespect being shown to Q.

- pdx2ord

Disrespect...nah, I agree is wasnt that

But they had 5 hall of famers reuniting after a game...but they were asked multiple times to "move along" to a meaningless press conference - where reporters and cameras clearly cared more about this reunion than that

And those 5 didnt seem to give a care to the clown asking them to move

I don't know what to make of it....Hawks overall have a lot of hard calls to make.

They have Crawford, Lehner, Kubalik, Strome. Caggiula.....to start with.

Give credit to bowman...found another gem in Kubalik. Guy has some serious skill and can snipe.

he has 70 million against the cap already with 13 spots, and needs 2 goalies. Delia at 1 million is pretty much a lock to make the team given their cap constraints.

Crawford or Lehner, Strome, and Kubalik and trying to get them to fit in under 11 million will be hard enough. There will HOPEFULLY be a cap increase but.....this is why I am pro trading saad.

Unless Shaw or Seabrook retires.

All of it.

What is sad is that it always comes back to this guy vs that guy.

Ie….Lehner vs Crawford. I think Lehner is the better option long term assuming the financial amount isn't asinine. Doesn't mean I don't like Crawford or respected his game for the last decade here.

We all would love them all to retire as hawks but that's not possible given the salary cap....Ive accepted that.

And this notion of a guy "earning his right to retire a Hawk" is crazy because all you are doing is hurting yourself further down the road to be competitive. Seabrook is a prime example.....

This board should be a riot the next 10+ days until the Hawks play again. All the MDs will be out sending me links of DeBrincat showing a possible tell of some hand/wrist injury . Can't wait.

- SteveRain

Steve, I'm not implying that Cat is playing hurt. Would it surprise me to learn that he isn't close to playing at 100%? Not at all. What little I do know, would suggest that most of these warriors want to play. Especially when they are in the middle of a playoff run. I don't have a clue as to what is wrong with him, but, he's currently stinking up the joint.

The network that the Hawks own 25% of?

They have forgone commercial breaks before and to have the best coach in the teams history, probably 2nd/3rd best in all of Chicago sports history....

Personally, I'm not a fan of that stuff. But...they make it a point to do it and do it better than others. And just seems a bit odd that with all he brought to the city, they made a conscious effort to do it during a break and not televise it

- PatShart

The Hawks own 25% of that network? I didn't know that. Even then, no real proof that it was intentional. It could simply have been an oversight. Sounds like you are getting mad at your own conjecture, but who knows anymore.

Just find it hard to believe that the PR machine which makes every player where the hat they're trying to sell in every interview....or goes above and beyond honoring every ex player and even mentions that 86 year old fans birthday from Beecher, Illinois...forgets to air it to the home audience (while the FLA feed didn't)

It wasn't directed at you.....sorry if it came off that way. That wasn't my intention.

Im sure he's banged up. if everyone one of those guys wasn't a little banged up at this time of year.

He hasn't been what we usually expect of him. He is still getting chances. We all notice him. he's hustling on icings to beat them...hes battling in the corners. Hes trying.

Like anything in life....when you have confidence things come a little easier....when you are struggling it takes some mental strength to keep yourself from going down the wrong path and getting all negative.

12 will be fine. Not a doubt in my mind. He may need to fire one of a d man's @ss and have it go in, but he's far too talented to be a bust.

If you think about it....The Hawks have 2 players each night consistently you know what you are getting and it's elite.....Kane and Keith.

Toews has found his game and looks like he should....Im sure 12 is right around the corner.

Hopefully that goal last night helps 77 get going.....

Meh. It's available all over the internet. Doesn't seem like an egregious thing. It played inside the arena just fine; and all parties seemed happy. It was a nice night.

Not sure why some (not directed at you) want to find evidence of ill will among the parties. I guess it helps to advance preconceived memes.

Yes...Hawks, cubs, sox, and bulls all owned 25% of the station.

With Cubs moving on, that's bumping it up to 33%.

Thus the move to push, I believe, all the Hawks games not nationally televised to comcast and not wgn.

Business.....not an issue with it.

Bad game by Lehner last night....I'll say it.

I can look past it because it's not a normal thing....but that 5 hole goal against in the 2nd was a bad beer league goal.....

If you haven't read the athletic article by clown Lazerus do so.....not fan of ole Mark by any stretch but that article of Q and Dale down in Florida was a solid piece.

Q mentioned saying they were on the same page.....something he and Bowman were not if you read between the lines and Mark even brought up the Hammer and Panarin trades.....Im amazed mark didn't have his press pass revoked.

- SteveRain

Both of those trades were wins for the Hawks how much time Hammer has missed, Panarin did bolt for money Hawks couldn't come close to in fact same whiners about that trade are the same people that want to trade Saad because we can't afford him it hurts my head. Trade Dinky not Saad it's a no-brainer.

Toews seems to have developed a Crosby's jockstrap type superstition with his mandated Hawks bball cap or has decided this is one small way he can rebel against the machine. He's wearing the same hat after every game and it is covered in sweat stains.

Respectfully disagree.

Saad at no pay raise, is tough to stomach ROI on this team.

Saad is going to get a pay raise....

Panarin is an ELITE hockey player. You are correct Hawks couldn't pay him, but hes an ELITE player.....

Hammer is not Seabrook. Murphy has been better but he couldn't hold Hammer's jock.

The trade topic has been discussed by plenty of people on this site so instead of picking one to respond to, I have just a summation of what I think is the better choice because it is the most sensible approach going forward.

This team has stepped up to play much better hockey and overcome - at least to some extent - some issues which dogged the team from playing well and actually winning. Overall the team may hoover around .500 record assuming the goaltending remains stellar.

Now that the team has an identity and some confidence as well as enjoying playing the game within a redefined structure -!and each team does have some sort of system no matter how strictly adhered or not - the big question is whether a buyer or seller at the deadline.

In terms of building for the future the answer is to be a seller..

Although this team is close to making the playoffs, there is no depth and the other teams that are bunched near us will probably be adding some pieces. Except for Edmonton (minus McDavid), those teams are on an upswing, are improving and hungry and have descent goaltending. I don't see any of them stumbling.

You can probably expect that Bowman does not make any trade of major proportion. Not that he won't consider such, but his mandate remains a rebuild
on the fly.without tearing the team apart. Adding a bad contract could occur but only if Bowman is making out somewhat as a thief in the transaction.

There is no pressure to make a trade now. Really there is not since Bowman knows that he is going to move both Gus and Saad after the season if not at the trade deadline. This team is not going to be impacted as in significantly better by subtracting a piece in Gus or Saad and adding some player at the same or another position.

And we are not going to play at a .750 clip or whatever to make the playoffs. We struggle to win and with our strong net presence we are most likely a .500 team. Capability that is such....but know that it is hard earned points in tense hard played games the remainder of the season. Expecting to play .750 clip is just not happening!

Trading a goaltender is tempting but really once carefully reviewed is not really a good idea. Sure if someone gives you a #2 for Crawford and he is amenable to moving on, alright do it. Bowman is nuts to trade a #1 goaltender in Lehner. Bowman just has to decide where he gets salary cap room insofar as to fit Lehner into the mix next season.

Saad, Gus and Crawford each for any combination of or seperately: a prospect, a draft choice, or taking on a bad contract is the way to go. Ideally to gain a first round pick even if we had to surrender our #2 is not totally unrealistic.

Perhaps after the season Bowman could trade a veteran like Maate but not likely Murphy if he feels like Koekkoek is the real deal and another kid (Mitchell) will step up.

Of course this affects depth but maybe Bowman wants Gilbert or Carlsson or even Beaudin to progress should they be recalled due to Injuries. Totally plausible since Bowman is transforming the roster piecemeal in small incremental steps.

The rebuild just needs to retain Lehner to be a credible rebuild on the fly. That is the biggest decision Bowman makes. Some who feel Saad is so nice to keep......yes, nice player but too much coin for a third line when he can be replaced eventually later next season by a Rockford player. Some cuts have to be made to get the additional money for Lehner.

Hasn't shown up the first month of the season, for a few years. Could that be considered a form of rebellion? Just kidding, of course.
