Tyler Cameron: Dust-ups and Dusters There were a lot of emotions sprinkled throughout the UC on Tuesday night.

The Hawks lost 4-3 but let's look at the sights and sounds.

Also, I will be doing a mailbag Friday blog, GET YOUR QUESTIONS IN!

Nice 1,000 pt tribute for Kane and as expected, tribute to Q.

Good thing fans have a short memory -- because the last few years under Q weren't the best (and Stan didn't help things nor did Q with his stubborn ways either).

I'm wondering why no one has bothered to fault 19 on the 1st goal. Weak in the slot and behind the play. Lehner had the post covered, it wasn't as if he never got across, he stopped the initial shot off the ice with his pad but wasn't able to cover above it. Weak goal for sure but had Toews done his job there, probably not a goal at all.

Unfortunately, that let quite a bit of air out of the balloon and it took a while before we saw some pushback.

How are you boys and girls liking Coo Coo? Finally given a chance to stay in the lineup, he's provided some solid D, some physical play and has some skills in the O zone as well. Not too hard to see why he was a 1st round pick.

Everyone needs to get less focused on the result. I was in attendance last night. The Blackhawks were the better team most of the night. Except for a few softees by RL, it was a solid performance. And Bob was outstanding in the FLA win.

If they play like that every night, they may be able to win 2 of 3 the rest of the way.

All situations, Natural Stat Trick.

If the Hawks are going to have a chance at getting in, they really need Debrincat to get it going after the break.

Their first unit PP also needs to start making teams pay. Enough tic tac toe around the perimeter and start putting it on goalies.

Crazy month ahead once February hits! Looking forward to watching some desperation hockey moving forward.

Maybe I missed it but, I don't think coach Q's video tribute include this gem.

IMO, playoff hopes rely two things;

1. Alex Debrincat looking like Alex Debrincat and
2. The power play becoming respectable

I wonder if the Toews/Keith fight is going to stop the big trade to LA now?

Yes, JT wants Keith gone. It’s now just going to be Keith for Doughty. Ek5

DeBrincat is awful at the one timer. JC needs to figure out who has a good one, and make a swap.

Didn't watch last night, but was there against the Jets.
I think the best player in front of the net for PP is Caggiula. He's not big, but he'll take the beating. Glad to have Saad back.

Against the Jets, the boys were flying. They were skating with confidence we haven't seen in a few years. Almost like they've ironed most of the kinks out. The Cat definitely needs to get going. He's in a Sikura like funk where I think he's trying too hard. He seems to be pressing. I don't know if the 'hawks can win enough to get back in to the playoffs, but overall, with a couple of tweaks next year (if the cap is friendly) they can compete again in 20-21.

JMHO.

It is far too predictable on their power play.

It also amazes me that we don't see more Kubalik out there on their PP and in more late game situations. Your hottest goal scorer isn't on the ice as the clock is ticking down. I think he was when they scored their third goal, but it didn't make sense to me that he wasn't after JC called a timeout before sending them back on the ice for the final push.

No, he’s still busy making his case that Darcy Kuemper is the greatest goalie in NHL history.

Hopefully it is a 10 day break and not the 10 game break that Tyler speaks of. I can see the young guys Dach and Debrincat benefiting from this break and coming back strong for the rest of the season.

Heading into the all star break, the Hawks have to jump Winnipeg, Nashville, and one of 4 teams at 57 points (LV, AZ, Calgary and Edmonton) to find themselves in WC2. I don't think Win, AZ, Cal or Edm are any better than us, and LV and Nashville both have new coaches. Definitely not impossible to see us jump over 3 of those 6 teams.

What I worry about is that Stan "goes for it," and gives away assets just to make the playoffs, and lose in the first round. I don't think making the playoffs would be bad for the Hawks, but I don't want Stan to be a buyer at the TDL.

Nice to see Jill Mikita and Denis Savard present Kane with gold puck to commemorate his 1,000 career NHL point. But, where was Bobby Hull, the other Hawk with 1,000+ points?

A lot of score-adjusted and PP 3rd period stats included there - Hawks had 3 PPs in the third, and finally woke their offense up.

Through two - when the game was decided (all situations, Natural Stat):

Corsi 32-39
Chances 22-34
HDSC 10-10
XGf 1.75-1.64

Hawks did a nice defensive job through two, I thought, other than in net, without much going on offensively.

From the last one:

For a guy who never learned to read or write, Eddie the Entertainer knew how to market himself and sell tickets. In an era where average players were probably making $20-25K and superstars got $50K, Eddie made lots of dough around Toronto selling Christmas trees, promoted a company called The Pop Shoppe and even shaved off his mustache in a Schick commercial.

And he had enemies on just about every team in the league - John Ferguson, Reggie Fleming, Ted Lindsay, the Plager brothers, Jim Dorey. One of his better moments was when the Canadiens were after him and he punched out Henri Richard and then head butted him. And he also had a scary stick swinging brawl with Larry Zeidel.

But Eddie could also play a little bit - pover 1000 NHL games and he was on 4 Stanley Cup teams. He had almost 250 career goals.

Get off the track, here comes Eddie Shack!

He could act as a shadow on scorers, although he had no control over his reactions and "English" so he many times needed up in the box defeating the idea he could prevent a big gun from getting looks.

Big beak that lead him down the ice...he was a really good explosion skater.

and yes, every team's fans HATED him!

We became more preoccupied isolating on him than watching the puck.

You still find a fanatic fan here or there that will enter the stadium interested in the shenanigans of some opposing player lack of "clean" play...but, now we have trouble keeping up with the puck and play and 32 teams kinda lessens us getting a hate affair with a bad man on each club.

I would have liked to see the nut sack grab too... that cost him the big fine, because some how I missed that...the circumstances, the ref etc., even the fine.

I need details...I just somehow missed it when it happened, and the aftermath...

Back in olden times - the ORiginal 6 era - teams would play each other 14 times each season (70 game schedule during my initial fandom years) - so about once every two weeks.

You could really work up a hate seeing the same guys that often.
