Yep. Go at Gus, and activate your dmen in the Ozone when Kane is on the ice. 2 men deep forecheck. Hold your blueline.

Q didn't like Murphy either, didn't he DNP coaches choice him a few times?

Yup. Loved the 17 seconds vs Boston too...but, maybe cuz I am old, and suffered through the Habs Lemaire killer on Espo...and decades of disappointment for 40 years more...that Nashville comeback, and how it set up ending the Cup-draught. It stands as my #1. The 17 seconds likely a close 2nd on my list. But, we had a Cup triumph before the 17 second episode. I truly did NOT think I would see a Cup in my lifetime. The 2010 Nashville comeback changed that feeling. I can't describe it really. But, that feeling of hope...no, not even hope cuz I always HOPED....that feeling of BELIEF that Nashville comeback gave me. It was a special feeling. I kinda felt then, a CUP was definitely possible with that 2010 team.

Can't really put in words what I am trying to say. But, it made this (I believe 45 or 46 year old, at the time) man believe Santa was real, the Easter Bunny thrived...and the Hawks were gonna WIN A CUP!!! It was special!

I understand totally, we are around the same age, and obviously have been Hawks fans for a lot longer. When Kaner scored the Cup Winner, all I could do was stare, no screaming, yelling, just stared. Then opened up the Tequila and partied all night.

Yup was sitting right under the Blackhawk Standby poster underneath In defense of TonyO, the fog on the ice was so thick, you could barely see center ice, let alone someone shooting the puck.
- LAHawk

Soon as you mentioned fog, it brought me back to that 1970's game between I think Buffalo and Philly. Fog so thick I think they delayed the game and waved towels and things trying to lift the fog. And....didnt Rick MacLeash or Reggie Leach or Rene Robert or somebody smack a bat outta the air. I dunno, maybe I am going mad. The things I think I remember and reality often blur.

another rum please nurse!!!

I remember the 1966 playoffs between the Hawks and the Red Wings. The game was switched to the afternoon because you know "television". This was when color TV was first being used for hockey and they painted the ice deep blue, and they had huge floodlights for lighting.

The stadium at the time did not have air conditioning, and they still allowed smoking. It was a warm spring day and between the heat, the lights, and the smoking, a deep fog developed on the ice. After several skate arounds by the players to lift the fog, Harvey Wittenberg asked the fans to please refrain from smoking, you are fogging up the camera's. My dad re lit his cigar. Hawks upset the first place Red Wings that year but lost to Montreal in the finals. Some things you never forget.

Understood, however Espo had issues tracking long shots, I witnessed a couple of them at the old barn.

Yes sir, I like tough hockey too, not Vandemeer tough with clowns only purpose to fight and "intimidate" opponents. I remember when you didn't need enforcers, the players were their own enforcers, including the stars. No one was tougher than Richard, Howe, Hull. The smaller players were extra tough, Mikita, Pocket Rocket, Bathgate. Yeah Hull had his shadows (Watson, Provost, etc.), but they were talented hockey players too. Even John Ferguson who was probably the "toughest" guy in the league at the time averaged about 18 goals a season when if you hit 20, was like hitting 30 home runs (other than the juiced players and juiced ball seasons).

Ferguson was one of those type players you hated unless he was on your team. Looked him up. He was only 6 feet and 178 pounds. Thought he was bigger than that.

I'm sure they are both very amped to play in front of Q again.

As long as it doesn't continue or devolve into some stupid Sharpy in 2015 like thing in the media, all good. Just brothers tussling.

- pdx2ord

Hockey practices should not allow tussling. This board primarily opts for minor verbal sparring. Everyone stays safe and impractical to their own DNA, that way. Hate like hell for anyone to go beyond sanctioned behavior.

It seems Boqvist is dedicated to being a two-way defenseman, and is focusing on that side of the puck. That is fantastic news.
- mohel

He is progressing every game. Says a lot about the kid that he focused on his defensive game since he was recalled. The last 3-4 games he starting to take more offensive opportunities.

Not sure what caused it (and beats aren't either), but here's the vid of the tail end and some tweets:

@MarkLazerus
Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith were just scrapping at the morning skate. Toews had Keith pinned down on the ice. and had most of his jersey off. Sheldon Brookbank broke them up. A few stick-taps from around the team and back to the usual morning skate. That was... interesting. It was hardly a violent affair, but it didn't look playful, either.

Not sure what's going on, Gabe, but Gus seems better lately, too. Probably a mirage brought on by my terrible thirst.....

Edit - Elbows says it is because of Murphy. If so, Murphy must be good.

I was totally stunned. Some tears may or may not have happened. The best part is I had just sent my oldest out of the room. That season the Hawks always seemed to score when she left the room.

She didn't believe me when I told her the Hawks had just won the Cup.
