It did get us Tre White and Edmunds, so it could have been worse. Think Bear's fans are happy they took Trubisky #2 overall that year?

You don't get it. You're saying the only way to win is to play good defense. Yet when history tells you you're wrong, you just stick your fingers in your ears and babble like a child.

For the hundredth time, yes, it is A way to win, but it is not THE way to win.

History favours the 49ers in the Super Bowl.

When is the last time a top offence beat a top defence in the Super Bowl ?

The last 10 Super Bowls, 6 had a point total of 50 or higher. 3 had both teams score at least 4 TDs. The average points scored in the regular season in those years was between 44 and 46 points. 50 or higher literally means "below average" defense was played in those games. Some, very bad defense was played. There were games of 74, 62, and 65. That is plain atrocious defense.

Hard to make a line-up, if we use some of those Dmen, we don't have Kane and ROR

The Pats and Falcons was the last time a top defense played a top offense. Which, wait for it, was the game with 62 points scored. The Pats also had the 3rd best offense.

Pegulllllaville represents that as the only way to win. To which I've conceded that, yes, that is definitely a way to win, but it is pretty (frank)ing far from the only way. That's what I take exception to, and despite all the evidence pointing to the misconception that great defenses always win. He refuses to acknowledge that because he can never be wrong or his world will implode.

They should've though, and I think that was the point. It was painfully obvious Tyrod was not the answer. The fact we got an All-Pro CB eases the pain somewhat.

When the Atlanta Falcons face the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl on Sunday (6:30 p.m. ET, FOX and FOX Sports GO), it will be the eighth time the No. 1 scoring offense has faced the No. 1 scoring defense in the Super Bowl. And the defense has won every matchup but one

I’d rather miss the playoffs 8 years in a row then lose like that ever again.

In 2010 the numbers 1 and 2 defenses played in the Super Bowl and the final score was 31-25. Couldn't possibly have anything to do with Rodgers and Roethlisberger combining for 567 yards and 5 TDs, could it? Even if you take away the pick 6, that's still 49 points, assuming the Steelers got no points on that drive. For the 2 best defenses in football that allowed a combined 29.5 points per game to allow almost double that?

7 out of 51 ain't bad. WTF world are you living in?

And again, 62 mother(frank)ing points were scored in that game! Defense had absolutely nothing to do with it.

You are wrong in every way, shape, or form.

Pretty sure the #1 offensive team and the #1 defensive team were both sitting at home watching today.

Sure and like Hatboro Swords pointed out, I watched the best offence of all time put up 40 points a game and lose by 30+ to the Legion of Boom.

Then I watched them go out and sign D.Ware, Boss Ward, Talib, and Darrian Stewart and best the Panthers who had the best offence in the NFL that year with 188 yards of offence.

Patrick Mahomes is still playing football because his defence gave up 14.1 PPG the final 8 weeks of the year to secure the #2 seed. Brees, Wilson, and Rodgers are finished because they didn’t have an elite defence.

Derrick Henry best Brady and Lamar Jackson in back to back weeks. The Chiefs dared Tannehill to beat them and they lost.

7-1. That’s 8 Super Bowls. 87.5%.

Because it happened once is the exception that proves the rule. The best 2 defenses in the game combined for 49 points. When push comes to shove, as it very, very often, but not always, does, you need a QB to put the team on his shoulders and will them to win, just like Brady did against the Falcons.

They won 7 times. Are you a moron?

Edit: There had been 50 Super Bowls at that point. 7-43 16.2%. That makes just as much sense as your cherry picked numbers.

Posting about #1 defense vs #1 offense without posting the others defense/ offense rank is also misleading.
When Seattle beat Denver they had the #1 defense but also had the #8 offense. Denver on the other hand had the #1 offense, but their defense was ranked #22.
Big difference having the #1 O going against the #1 D and having the #8 O going against the #22 D.

#1 offence vs #1 defence.

If you look at all 50 Super Bowls I’m sure the team with the better defence won more than the team with the better offence.
