Are Leaf fans ready to accept that Barrie, is in fact, a poopty defensive player? Just imagine if he was a top pair 65 point good defender and Colorado moved him for Kadri. Not a chance. - aminnes
Maybe Dubas thinks it’s basketball on ice Allstar game style? |

Angry? Loool. Perplexed.
I have a teenage daughter who literally is more emotionally composed than you. It would take me probably 40 seconds to explain to her the benefit of moving one player, and wouldn't once be tempted to blow it out of proportion and talk about the next 5 years being cratered.
You on the other hand, well... Here we are. Add that to how hung up you are on other people joining in, well... There's definitely something there.
You should see a doctor. Not whatever it is Max sees, an actual professional. That sounds like a joke but it's not... - joel878
Listen to yourself man telling me to see a doctor? Saying I have a personality disorder?saying I’m mental? But saying I’m blowing this out of proportion.
Come on you see the irony here don’t you?
I’m blowing this out of proportion Oh the irony. Please if this is some sort of comedic performance I applaud to you.
Ps
I hope this isn’t your best shot I expected better. |

Harlem Globetrotters.
When Barrie said he's signing for 8 million next year having not played a single game with the Leafs it was obvious his personal agenda of racking up points on the PP was his main priority. |

You mean Barrie is exactly what everyone thought he was? Essentially a right-handed Gardiner? I am shocked. |

Some guys did. But there were a lot of guys that were talking like they just picked up a number one d man.
For me I was just disappointed it was yet another offensively centred player. Which wasn't a need. |

2nd pairing all he is. Good there vs a liability on the 1st pairing. Get Reilly a good partner.
Reilly ???

Meh, he puts up points (63 point/82 game pace under Keefe) and his cap hit is nice.
The Calgary deal looks like it would’ve been worse. Brodie would’ve been the better D pickup but Jankowski has been terrible. Kerfoot’s play makes that trade even.
Leafs still need another top-4 D, no question. Dumba is most likely available and would give the Leafs another physical Dman. One who can skate, too. |

This is the biggest issue right now for sure. After next year Reilly re-ups his deal also. Gotta figure 7 million anyway. Not a lot of room unless they are willing to make some sacrifices. |

Dumba would be a nice fetch. Hard to say how they stay good after though. 6 million. That means Muzzin is gone and then it becomes almost a wash heading into next season. |

Ah. Then more than ever getting a legit partner needs to be the top priority. |

If it meant giving up a B prospect and a 2nd for the Wild to retain 1-1.5m, Leafs should do it. They’ve drafted well, and have a few prospects posting a PPG or better in their respective leagues. |

Yeaaah I dunno. I have zero to back as much up to with other than my humble opinion, but I think dubas is a realist and more into asset management then making the playoffs with a team that isn't so likely to go all the way.
He sees the team for what it is, he knows that if push comes to shove trading Barrie isn't the difference between winning a cup or not, but missing out on those assets he could fetch in return and watching him walk for nothing does make quite an impact down the road.
Of course I could be on glue. Just don't see doobie passing on the opportunity when the team with Barrie is unlikely to see the second round. - joel878
I think he thinks he has the best team in hockey, he’s all in this year. |

Yup. If he was managing assets thinking they aren't winning this year then why did he think he could win last year? He let gardner walk, and he will do the same with Barrie. Since Shannahan took over the Leafs have consistently allowed their UFAs to walk for nothing despite having no business talking cup run the last few years. |
|
|
|
That part I agree with. He needs to go on that basis alone.
I just don't see it getting into a situation where we had to settle for a 2nd. - joel878
There is... one situation... Ryder + Halak + 2nd |

do you honestly think Rielly, after seeing Dubas hand out 10+ million dollar deals like they were candy, will really sign for 7?

Barrie has his flaws for sure. but he does a lot of other things very well also.
Since Keefe at 5v5 when Barrie is on the ice the Goals are 30-19 (61%). Best on the Leafs
If you factor in the Cap hit, and they Leafs also got Kerfoot who has been fine.
Barrie has been pretty much what you should expect
