it's the 80s all over again. We're so far away from the 90s-2000s teams, even the 2012 flash in the pan. NO defense, a prayer in net.. as in we'll see how Blackwood develops.. and a mish mash up front, with again.. prayers Nico OR Jack, let alone both, can be a 70pt center.

Remember Butchers first year? Seemed like every pass he made resulted in a goal. If there are teams that feel he is a great dman I ship him off to those teams. Dude has fallen off so bad.

And is it just me, or does Severson play like very cocky? Like he makes stupid plays. Plays with no urgency. He tries to play like Neids, that calm game, but makes `10x the mistakes.

THIS IS WHY WE NEED #4. Dude will shape up that backend.

Butch has always been a bit of a liability. Now that he has become an NHL regular, the guys know what his tendencies are. He is ultimately a 5D, and is paid as such. I agree he has some major drawbacks, but he chose to come to Jersey and helped us in a time of desperation. As long as everyone sees him as a bottom pairng D, he will be effective. Lets hope hope Hischier can get fellow countryman Sbisa to join the bottom pairing for a quality duo on the cheap. Out major issue is in the 1LD role that needs to be addressed. Vats just isn't enough, and Greene is miles away from that level of play.

Blackwood looks legit. Our D is certainly not helping him out. But I am confident that our top 2 C's will be studs going forward, and our goalie is developing at a fantastic rate. We need a 1LD, and 2RW to become a solid squad going forward.

TO be honest we dominated this game and the stats show, it's just unfortunately Cory is to slow, I think he would struggle in the ECHL

As far as goal we need a quality veteran backup and Blackwood to share the net. Domingue just was never good enough to trust outside the AHL.

Buy out Cory or send him down. But he’s done. Yet to get some quality goal prospects in the draft but don’t waste a 1st rounder in one.

The offense was totally addressable this past year in free agency and we can pick up some decent help this year.

The D is the disaster that will keep this team down for years. I’d try to sign Vats out of desperation.

Maybe we should suck again next year. Then we'd have kids in Hischier, Hughes, Boqvist, Bratt, Zacha, Blackwood, and hopefulls in this years 5th overall, Smith, Bahl, one of the kids in Bing, maybe a Walsh...and the Following years top 5 pick. So that would be 7 forwards under 25. Add to that guys 30ish in Coleman, Palmieri and Gusev. Add another 1 or 2 UFAs..theres your top 12.
Defense is another story lol.
SURELY out of all that we can develop some sort of great group of guys with great leadership. Or maybe we'll never have that again lol. Stevens and Neids dont come around too often.

This team is never capable of pushing back physically.

If the skill game isnt working for them they just dont have an answer and arent willing to switch it up and play mean.

All we needed last night outside of a goal was a physical spark to keep the momentum going when we were pouring it on and bot getting anything for it.

Where is Miles or Simmer with a big game changin hit or fight ? There never is one its we are down by 3 lets roll over and die instead of fighting, battling and crawling back in games they quit.

We got one guy who can bring it physically and he only does in a defensive situation he is never the aggressor setting the tone for us he is quiet as a sheep until Jack gets smoked.

We can agree to disagree all day long but this team doesnt intimidate anyone not offensively, defensively or physically so how can they ever figure to be succesfull when they are losing the mental battle almost every night.

Also its was rumored a few days ago that the wild are shopping Dumba.

He has 3 goals and 13 pts this season so something is up but do you take that risk he gets back to being a 20 goal dman that can hit or is he done randomly like so many before him in this new NHL?

Goal scoring as a defenseman is extremely volatile. Usually it means they got really lucky and had a lot of power play usage. He has 2% shooting percentage which is way lower than his career average, so there is something about him getting unlucky. Problem with him is that he isn't a great defender and this team has enough guys who aren't defensively sound.

Good points. I think the fact that he throws the body had me thinking he could play defense as there isnt to many nasty offensive dmen out there.

Although we dont need his poor defensive skills because all ready have a few similar players but he is interesting... Gives us another big bomb from the point with Subbs and a guy who can lay the body.

Overall the price will be to steep for someone who wont address the dire needs but would be a nice luxury to have.
